Work in progress: New Republic Prison Ship from The Mandalorian
Circa replied to OCD2's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
I was about to say the same thing. The reference shot above compared to the picture above it shows the scale is way off. Mando looks tiny in the game compared to the shot from the show. This looks really good though, keep it up! -
Was thinking that too. Two months would be good. I think the least amount of time we've had for a contest before was like 2 weeks. ? I would have preferred to start that one this month, but Halloween was requested a lot to me. Maybe we'll have better participation with a Mando one here soon.

Would really love to see it completed and released anyway, that sounds really cool. Or save it for next year's contest! We will also have more contests throughout the year you can submit that to. Next one will probably be Star Wars-only themed.

Requirements for audio files can be found here:

Merged the duplicate topics. No need to make more than one. If you ever need a topic moved, simply report it or PM a staff member. I went ahead and moved it to Modding Assistance, where the duplicate was created.

The time has come! Voting for your favorite spooky mod starts now. I'm a little surprised we only got 4 submissions, considering the amount of requests I got from people to do this contest. If y'all don't participate, contests are a lot less likely to happen. Luckily we got a nice variety of types of mods. I highly recommend downloading them and trying them out before making your decision. I know most won't do that, so if any authors of these mods want to update their mod page with more screenshots/gifs/video, feel free to do so. The contestants are:

Does anyone here still read old EU books or comics?
Circa replied to TDG's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
Yep, sends him to Wayland, but also at the very beginning when Luke is assigning each student to a master, he assigns someone named "Raltharan" to a "Master Horn". I remember someone made a really good Corran Horn skin and made a mod to replace the Jedi Master NPC in the game to be him, so you actually see him in the room when Luke mentions him. It ends up looking goofy later on when you get to Korriban and see multiple of him spawned to help fight the cultists. -
Some people have asked for an extension, so y'all have until the EST morning of Monday the 26th. Particularly after I've had some coffee.
-
Two more days until all entries must be submitted! After which the poll will open!

Weird. I recommend trying EternalJK anyway, which has a bunch more features than normal OpenJK does for multiplayer, including server browser improvements. Try that:

Are you making sure the top settings on the server browser match what you have in vanilla JKA?

Can't get any animations mods to work.
Circa replied to Cain Ordo's topic in Jedi Knight Tech Support
What other mods do you have installed? What operating system are you on and are you using the Steam version or another version? -
Interesting. Looks pretty cool.

Looks awesome! Just be aware that making a new game using an existing protected IP can get you shut down with a C&D. What other projects are doing is to name their project and any related things inside it nothing to do with Star Wars, and then have a free unofficial mod that changes it all into Star Wars to be how you want. Still a grey area, but can probably work. As soon as you make enough progress and gain enough followers, Lucasfilm will notice pretty quickly. I wish you luck though.

Does anyone here still read old EU books or comics?
Circa replied to TDG's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
Short answer, yes. I still have a shelf full of old EU books that I hold dear. Just because they aren't canon doesn't mean they don't exist anymore. They never were technically canon anyway, no books really were outside of the novelizations and films/shows. Nothing changed other than an official statement when Disney took over. But I digress. Not a fan of getting into that topic. Your list looks interesting. I, Jedi is one of my favorite Star Wars books, especially because it's connected to Jedi Outcast and Academy (you even here Corran Horn mentioned by Luke in JKA). I highly recommend picking that one up. I think it has mixed reviews because it's in first person which is pretty rare in the fiction fantasy genre, especially in Star Wars books. It's really good though. I'm currently reading through the old Jedi Apprentice YA novels that I read as a kid. They are actually really incredible for YA books. That's not just nostalgia speaking, because I only read a handful of them and even the ones I never read are great. If you like Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and that era of SW before the Clone Wars started, I highly recommend checking them out. It's my favorite era of Star Wars because of those books. The sequel series Jedi Quest is great as well, from what I remember. I plan to read all of those after. Speaking of that era, the new books coming out about the new High Republic era look very intriguing, and I am definitely looking forward to reading those. The Jedi are the best part of SW to me, and having an era where they are the amazing heroes and are a thriving group of knights that we see in the prequels and what we see Luke strive to be by himself is what gets me excited. -
I’ll allow it as long as all parties involved are okay with it, approve of their work being used, and can handle sharing the glory of potential winning.

The source code is what makes up the inner workings of the game, and allows us to essentially edit to however we want to. OpenJK is the main project that spawned from that, which aims to fix a lot of bugs and help modernize the game a bit. Though it hasn't been worked on much over the last couple of years. However for multiplayer, EternalJK is probably the most popular project because it adds a lot of features as well as fixes bugs. If you get back into the game, I highly recommend downloading that to use as your exe file.

Yeah man. I started playing in 05 and got heavily into modding. Back then was the golden age but now there is so much cool stuff out there. With the source code, anything is possible, essentially.

A classic returns Okay, so I had high hopes that we'd get a contest in before October, but the main reason that didn't happen is because we are trying to implement small incentives into the forum software itself so that you can show off your contest awards more easily. That is on hold for now, so I figured we should just go ahead with the Halloween contest, since so many people love it and request it. The poll I posted a few weeks ago was enlightening, however, and those that are wanting those contests will still get them eventually! For now it's time to get spooky. ? Y'all vote Unlike our last contest, but like our previous ones, you will have the last week of the month to vote on your favorite submissions. This month works out perfectly where Halloween (and coincidentally the last day of the month) falls on a Saturday. If you're not familiar with our past contests, essentially how it works is you create a mod related to the established theme and everyone votes on their favorite. If you want to see our past Halloween contests, check out those from 2017 & 2016. Rules: All submissions must be Halloween-themed (so scary, spooky, frightening, etc. ?) You can only enter your own creations. You may enter more than one file. Already existing files cannot be submitted. The goal is to encourage new creations! Any content is welcome, including skins, models, maps, weapons, menu mods, etc. Just make sure it abides by the rules. Files can be for Jedi Academy and/or Jedi Outcast. We will assume files are for JKA unless specified otherwise. The deadline for submitting content is October 25, 2020, after which a poll will be opened. The poll will be closed by the morning of October 31, 2020. How do I submit my mod? Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for everyone involved. The way you submit your file for this contest is to upload them as normal files in our file section, but using the category called Contest Entries. Click the button below, and submit your mod as you normally would. The category should be set to Halloween 2020 already. If you don't enter it there, your file won't be entered until you do. If you realize that you didn't do that, PM a staff member and we can change it for you. Good luck and happy sp00ky season! ? SUBMIT TO HALLOWEEN 2020

As in the developers? No. That wasn’t very common for games in that era. The source code was officially leaked back in 2012 however, so lots of new mod projects have sparked from that. The modding community has done a ton of work since then though, just take a look around the Files section here and the other forums sections. That’s the main purpose of this website, is for modders to share and find help.

As someone who used Dragon back in the day, I can confidently say that anything will be better than that. Definitely learn how to do it in Blender. I'm not sure if there are any JKA specific tutorials yet. I believe @Ramikad has done it, if I'm not mistaken.

The original Xbox version doesn't have online anymore, as those original Xbox servers were shut down over a decade ago. That's why it's best to just look elsewhere for your JKA fix.
-
They just re-released both JK2 and JKA on Nintendo Switch and PS4 earlier this year. The reason they didn't publish it on Xbox was because it's already backwards compatible with the original Xbox version. That doesn't mean there isn't hope for a modern Xbox port like they did on the other consoles though. Anything is possible. You can play these games on super low end computers and laptops though, so it's recommended to just do that. Hell, I could sell you a used laptop or desktop for cheap if you wanted one just for JKA. If you're not wanting a computer then a Switch would be the next best cheap option to play it.
