crap lol
well.. im down for a 501st game. like from clone training all the way to bf2 that would be worth a little effort i guess. but damnitt if u arent exactly right
I agree that would be cool.
But with your idea, remaking Dark Forces in Unreal would be sweet. It doesn't need saber combat.
-
exactly! like.. we can make a yavin1 in unreal in no time and it would be pretty awesome.. and we can throw in artistic freedom here n there (new plants etc)
i think the main issue is saber combat
but even if thats the issue... we can just do a fps like republic commandos all unreal which would still be pretty friggin sweet. that takes almost all the coding out. hell maybe all the coding lol
It would also take out the Jedi part of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy/Outcast.
-
You could bind it to a key and press it every time you start a level.
In the autoexec.cfg, try putting quotes around the line like "seta g_saberpickupabledroppedsabers 1"

I think you're thinking of Windows Media Player
Oh, maybe you're right... Oops.
Doesn't Media Center come with all versions of Windows 7 and 8 now though?
-
well, i dont got WMC, thats whats wrong with it, LOL
and i read it only comes pre installed on exclusive versions of win xp/7
Oh. Really? I thought it came with every version of Windows. Weird.
Have you tried XBMC on XP?
-
No, not really. Unless you count Star Wars: Apprentice of the Force which I played when I was 15.
All of the SW games I've ever played are everything in Star Wars BOPC, JA and KOTOR 2.
Well those are the best ones I guess. Except Battlefront II is better than the first, which was in BOPC.
I guess I understand, but I personally like reliving the movies in games. That's the main reason I enjoyed Lego Star Wars so much back in the day was because of that. Fun stuff!
Now I feel bad for continuing to run this topic off course even further.

What's wrong with WMC?

Interesting idea, but I would not be interested in working on it. The reason I am trying to improve the graphics of JO is because I like everything about JO itself, from it's story, to characters, to level design, and I think it deserves a much needed visual overhaul, but I think that's all that's necessary. I am not interested in working on an entirely new Star Wars game. I already worked on the Jedi Betrayal mod team for a year and a half and the project is honestly kind of a failure now. No one does anything for it anymore. If you want to work on something completely original, join their team.
Also, I'm not a fan of making games about the movies directly. I saw the movies, I know what happens, I have no desire to play as the Original Trilogy characters. When I picture them I want to picture actors, not game characters.
That's...interesting. So you don't play any movie related games at all?
-
I played JO before any of these games and loved it, but never owned it. I eventually got JA at Walmart in 2005 and didn't know it was even related to JO at the time until like a year or two later. Then I bought JO and loved them both. But JA will always be my favorite because of how often I played it and how I learned how to mod for it. I learned so much from it.
It's all about the first experience. I'm sure if I had played DF first and most, I would have loved it the most. Although I'm more of a fan of playing as a Jedi/Sith.

I read you guys and we all seem to agree that bringing JO up to date, even if the coders can't get a new renderer to work in there, would be great. I'm playing through JK2 again and the brushwork and level design can be improved a lot without the need of fancy lightning or normal mapping. On the other hand, I see so much talent and dedication and I cannot stop thinking, why redo something that's already done instead of making something completely new, something that reads originality instead of "what you did, we can make better"? I looks like we are only a handful of modders left for this game, most of them already moved on with their lives or to another engine to show up how much detail they can cram up into a single model, I say we open up a thread and discuss what we can do, Star Wars related, as a standalone and original project. Maybe something based on the original trilogy, Pulp Fiction style (multiple stories crossing each other), including not only light sabers but also short stories about Han and Chewie, old Obi Wan, Luke and Biggs, Boba Fett, perhaps a flashback with young Anakin. I thinking about something that shows/explains some things from the movies that already were there but you had to find out about in comics or novels. There's a lot to work on in there. Think about it.
I LOVE THIS IDEA. A LOT.

Hahahaha. As much as I would like to see that project finished I think it's unlikely to get finished, even with me at the helm. It's possible, but unlikely.
Maybe not finished, but further than it was left!
-
Whoa, I never knew about this. This is awesome! I've been wanting to do something similar for years but never got around to it. Good work!
I wish you had used Toshi's Anakin instead of Haps'.

Great work though!

How did they fix HUD stretching in the Mac version?
-
I don't mind, SP works perfectly, and that's all I need! MP works fine too.Ah, I'm on 10.6.8 so that's why. Too bad.
-
The retail disc versions don't work with 10.7 (Lion) or 10.8 (Mountain Lion) of OS X due to elimination of PowerPC support.Bummer. I wonder if it's technically legal for you to use disc images of the retail version then, since you've already purchased the game... that may make life a lot easier for you.
Though I'm sure redsaurus has found some magical way to make it work.
-
It's different for the Mac App Store version.Extract everything to Game Data. I don't remember how different it is on Mac (it's been years since I played it on mine) but that should be the same.
I don't care though. I don't play multiplayer anyway. It's all good.

Well I assume the MBII folder goes in the same folder as the default base folder?in what way didn't it work?
-
Didn't work. Oh well, I don't really care that much.http://community.moviebattles.com/threads/23082-Mac-FAQ?p=764356&viewfull=1#post764356
replace the MBII_Mac.pk3 in the MBII folder (which I guess would be in library/containers/stupidlylongpath/) with that one
-
I thought you said we couldn't? How do I do it then? You can use MBII with the mac app store version.
-
Yeah, I was wanting to do the effects as well, that would be awesome. It seems to be working great man, thank you! I'm going to tweak it a bit and get some better projectile graphics and maybe sounds for it as well. Maybe I can get it MBII approved for a separate release, if not I we may need to start over with @@The One and Only's model.
They can be hard to reach. I'm not sure if it would be fine to just release it and give them credit or not.
I hate these gray area credit wars.

Okay, so just to clarify, this is the DC-15s blaster pistol. I had to do some research on Wookiepedia. The DC-17 is a different pistol as seen in the Clone Wars TV show. They named the model wrong in MBII, so that's confusing. That would be excellent man, thank you! I may modify it myself and then contact MBII about releasing it separately - you never know - and I'll be sure to credit you as well if I do. Cheers.
Here it is, complete with the HUD icons and shader for the glowing panel on the gun.
