  1. Ok first of all, I am supremely sorry about this. You may have seen me asking around if they could make or find a certain Corran Horn skin. That's why I'm here.

The one in particular I want is this: http://z9.invisionfree.com/Hapslashs_Void/index.php?showtopic=8996&st=100

Made by Tyrael and is incredibly accurate to Corran's Jedi Master appearance. If you still have it somewhere on your harddrive or know Tyrael and can ask him to reupload the skin, I'd be most appreciative.

Ah yes. I forgot about that. I didn't even know he finished it. Apparently he submitted it to MBII as well, but it's not in it.

    Have you tried emailing him?

  2. Usually I'm super board riding the bus/train home and bring nothing but a notepad with me.  Ideas tend to hop into my head when I'm just sitting there board, so I write them down, start improving them, then write some pseudo-code, control diagrams, etc...

I wasn't going to correct you, but since you typed it twice:

It's spelled "bored", as in feeling weary because one is unoccupied or lacks interest in one's current activity. A "board" is a long, thin, flat piece of wood or other hard material, used for floors or other building purposes.

    Just helping you out.  ;)

As far as my ideas, it's kind of what eezstreet was saying from a coding perspective, except mine is just a modding perspective. I play the game (usually SP) and think "Wouldn't this be a cool feature?" or "The game would look better with this", etc.

  3. Some more questions: few days ago I came across an interesting JK map, named TIMON v.2 (some KOTOR related stuff, it is here http://www.moddb.com/games/star-wars-jedi-academy/addons/kotor-maps ). The text on the levelshot says that it is from Open Jedi Project, but i have never heard of OJP kotor addon... So do you know something about this, are there some extra maps like this ( 'cause it seems to be so... ) And an off-topic question: does anybody mods KOTOR? Can you help me to get some textures from it ( I mean some player skins to make an extra customizable models for my pack ) ? Or can you just told me how to do this?

@@Inyri knows more about modding KOTOR than anyone here, but what you'll need is the KOTOR Tool. It's hard to find to download because many of the sites that hosted it are down. So I uploaded it for you.

    KOTOR Tool

You can look up how to do that stuff elsewhere and maybe make a thread here if you are wanting to do it for JA, but not this thread.

  4. @: The graphics are great, but as eezstreet said, look at Crysis 3. *shrugs* Also, notice how at 0:48 in that video they talk about Sub-D, allowing "perfectly smooth curves. Now look at the top of the helmet. A perfectly smooth curve. Next, they show a character model. Look at the top of the helmet. Very blocky, not a smooth curve at all. This just  goes to show they can easily show you tech demos of awesome graphics, but when it comes to the reality of the finished game, these are not going to be implemented to the extent you expect. What you CAN do, has never been the same as what the system can handle. If you pay close attention to what's happened in the past with games like CoD, you'll know that while beautiful, they are never QUITE as promised graphically. Plus - come on. The graphics of Ghosts have nothing to do with the Xbox, and everything to do with Xbox AND PS4. The graphics differences will probably be extremely little, if at all.

I was impressed with every CoD graphically, with each release. It gets better and better. Same with other games. They aren't comparing Ghosts with other games like Crysis, they're comparing it to their previous game, MW3. They even call the engine the "Call of Duty engine". They never once mention any outside games or engines. I didn't really see anything blocky, it was a totally different helmet.

Play Crysis 3 on max settings. Hell, even look at what eezstreet posted. Old tech? Please. I also don't know why the higher polycounts and higher resolution textures make it so much more awesome when - again - we all knew that ALL the games on the next gen consoles were going to high higher polycounts and higher resolutions for textures. This isn't exclusive to Ghosts.

It is within the CoD series.
  5. CoD Ghosts is using the best visuals I've seen in a game. The fact it can have insane polycounts, better lighting & higher texture resolutions, is just awesome. BF5 should have this by the time it comes out. ;)

    prepares for people going nuts

    Agreed.

  6. Real quick note, the image with the trooper holding the pistol- what stance mod is that? I can't really find it, and the way folks hold pistols in JKA has always bothered me intensely.

Seriously who holds guns like that?

But other than that, this DC-17m model looks fantastic. I can't believe it hadn't been done sooner- I know the pistol has a sizable fanbase.

Mine? I can't remember. Either I made it or stole, one of the two. :P It was quite a few years ago. I have it merged with a few other stance mods I think.

I could send you the mod, but it will have a few other stance changes along with it. If you know how to change it, you can do that if you want.

  7. They pushed back their reveal conference after the PS4 reveal. I think it's evident they tried to match what Sony did with some features on the PS4. For example, they talked about the DVR feature allowing you to record and share gameplay footage on the fly, which Sony has as a part of their "Share" button. How do I know they copied it? Well, the fact that they mentioned it just once, and showed a STILL picture of it and nothing more says to me that it's not finished. They probably just said "Hey devs, can you do this too?" "Uh, yeah sure, why not." "Cool get it done!"

No it doesn't make you lazy. I was saying they presented it like this feature that's going to revolutionize the industry. If you feel that it makes a giant difference over every other console though, I do find that lazy.

You say that is if it's slow currently. It takes me 7 seconds (yes I tried) to go from gaming, to Netflix, or to music, or to a DVD on my PS3. The Xbox One takes about 1-1.5 seconds. Yes that's a lot faster, but how much does that matter? They demonstrated switching about a dozen times back to back as if that's something people actually do. Yes, I would love to watch 1 second of everything going on in my console. =/ Again, I'm not complaining that it's fast, I'm complaining that all these little things they have they treat like it's a big deal and countless times use the words "ground breaking" and "revolutionary".

It had everything to do with the Xbox announcement. Not only was it an Xbox conference but the game was also said to have exclusive content on the Xbox One version. They're using it to sell the system, how can you say they aren't related? Yes, the graphics references go far all systems, doesn't mean it's not bullshit. Again, they're presenting all these extremely small, mostly pointless items and claiming they are revolutionary. I'm not saying those things aren't cool, I'm saying they ARE NOT NEW OR UNEXPECTED. They are either stuff we all knew was coming (higher polycount and texture resolution, things that ALWAYS come with new hardware) or stuff that's been going on for years (increased detail the closer you get). Again, the issue is not the content, it's that they present it in a way that makes it seem like it's revolutionizing the industry and that you can only get these things with the Xbox One.

Try realistic. I think you're extremely optimistic if you think there's anything revolutionary to be had that's exclusive to the console as of now.

I never said I thought they were making anything revolutionary to it. Sure, some of the features seem pointless, but little things add up. If they didn't talk about them at all, then were we to just assume those things? If they presented it in such an exaggerated way as you claim, then I agree, that is quite silly, but maybe it was to get the audience more excited about it.

You may be right about they waited to see what the PS4 had, but I think that's a good thing. The console wars (or any other product) are always like this. Competition is good for us consumers, that's for sure.

  8. In that regard, yeah, pretty much. Though I do feel that a lot of the general look was based off of PS4 if you ask me.

Frankly, they should be spending their time on other things, but that's just me. I felt like they really focused on stuff that isn't important to gamers, like these voice gimmicks, Kinect and so forth.

Hm, I thought it had to do with its ability to multitask. They explicitly mentioned that players would be able to "watch a movie or television show on Netflix while a game lobby is being prepared" or something to that effect. Which made me wonder, what game takes so long to prepare a game lobby that you can do that, or, what television show is that short?

I think I'm liking the changes in Ghost honestly a lot more than any other games, but it really feels like people are focusing on the graphics.

/me reminds you to remember which game company is being Infinity Ward's bitch :x

Quake 3 is often praised for its high amount of customization in the game, down to stuff like your Railgun projectile color (which I don't think any other game has come anywhere close to how cool that is, really). I think based on that, it'll get a good amount of praise.

They said their goal for Xbox One was to stretch their horizon to places other than video games. They claim that since the Xbox has expanded into other realms like TV shows and movies and apps, it should now be considered a "living room experience" rather than the once held title: "gaming experience".

    You make good points though.

I advise people read this article on Wired:

    http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/05/xbox-one/

It's a good layout as to what's going on, and the video on Kinect is impressive, you can't deny that.

Oh, I just saw that Raven is once again helping out Infinity Ward develop CoD: Ghosts. They helped with Modern Warfare 3 too.

  9. Try 3 months worth of time, and then some, as they still haven't (to my knowledge) shown a real copy of the machine yet, just renders of what it looks like.

I was referring to the tech inside and what it features, not really what it looks like.

I can agree with this notion. However talking isn't exactly a reliable form of accessing the console, because background noise, etc etc etc

Then don't use that feature if there's background noise. It's an option, not an obligation.

What practical purpose does switching to Netflix to watch a movie while waiting on a game serve? Are people really that ADHD that they need to do something while a game loads or is waiting on something? Seriously?

I didn't see this part of the presentation, but I'm sure it's meant to be how fast it switches to an app in general, not how fast it does it back to back. Because right now, opening an app on an Xbox is painfully slow. I think they are making a point that it's much faster now.

I care more about gameplay than I do about graphics. Lots of people care about gameplay. That's what made Notch into a millionaire, so I assume that lots of people care more about gameplay than silly graphics enhancements. Why do you think indie games are becoming popular? Because people are waking up and realizing that there's more to a game than OOOO SHINY GRAFIX.

Also, there was character customization in Black Ops 1/2 to my knowledge (1 for sure had the ability to customize face paint and outfit for different teams), and customizing your loadout is sorta part of the whole character customization thing.

I guess this is how the CoD announcement did sorta coincide with the Xbox announcement. They probably had to keep it related to things that the new Xbox would allow, like the new engine. They featured some small gameplay changes, just not very many. I too, like hearing about gameplay changes and improvements, but they chose not to highlight those yet. That's fine with me, I'm sure they will sometimes later in the summer like usual.

Black Ops featured face paint but that was it. The only other customization that it had, along with every other CoD, is custom weapon camo. But even that was limited. The character changed to whatever perk you had in BO1. So if you had the Ghost perk, you looked like a ghillie sniper, so on. But with every other CoD game, it was whatever gun you had as your primary. There's really no other customization.

I like good things, not bad things. Xbox One bad, PS4 good.

See, that's an opinion. Which is fine. I might agree with you to an extent. Then again, neither of us have even used these devices yet.
