I'm more confused about the lightsaber blade's texture, rather than the fact it looks stupid in the first place.

It looks more like a thin fire sword instead of a traditional lightsaber beam, I think,

Someone mentioned it might have used a Lava Crystal which would explain the way it pulsates and why it looks really unstable.

They have Lucas backing up this saber, so it musn't be all that stupid,  -- wait until u see more about it before judging.

it's too early to work on this anyway, since we don't know if it even works the same way the traditional saber does.

well  Lucas himself has said that although he sold the franchise to Disney, there were terms of use, like; Disney has to work on the script Lucas has already written,

ending the saga as George himself has intented it to end. He has been reported saying that his role in the upcoming films is an adviser, mostly just stading still saying;

 

" yes you can do that "   and " no you can't do that, it doesn't fit the Star Wars universe, beacause..."   so this way, we know that Lucas must've approved this new saber.

Who knows if it was himself who  came up with this idea. I think it's important to remember that Lucas is  still a part of the new trilogy.

make the hilt is easy, need 3 tag_blade for the blades. however... the more difficult part is replace gfx/effects/sabers/red_line texture with a fire blazing tube. the problem is that all sith sabers with red color into the game got the new blazing effect : \

Can make the hilt use a specific/custom efx, so only that hilt will have the fire effect
