Tempust85
I have the basic functionality of the menu done, I just need to make it prettier and generally make it look cool. I'll post a video here when there's something decent to show. Circa likes this Link to comment
Tempust85
Does anyone feel like whipping up a concept of how they think the menu should look? Link to comment
katanamaru
If I still JK installed I can try and grab a screenshot. Link to comment
Tempust85
I have it too, but I don't want an exact 1:1 copy of the original's menu. Link to comment
Circa
Hmm. Maybe something similar, but higher quality and leave some JA aspects in it.Or implement @@therfiles' method of map menus. My favorite part of those menus were the shots of the desk where you can see some his equipment and stuff and books. That was so legit. Maybe you could model those and make a map of his room or whatever and have each "menu" go to different parts of the room. Tempust85 and NumberWan like this Link to comment

Tempust85
I never thought of that, is a map in the menu even possible without code edits? Link to comment

hhunter6
Are you using the original menus from DFII or new ones all together? Link to comment
Tempust85
I'm wanting to use new ones, and I'd like some concept ideas from everyone here about what they would like to see. P.S Models can be shown with almost no load time lag and with shaders, but no lighting. Link to comment
KCDodger
I had a concept, but I am unsure how possible it is.We all know the JKII menu screen with the saber parts, manuals and whatnot. Would it be at all possible to render those in 3D, as a background? like an active 3D background, instead of a picture? I know one can put a .mov or somethingrather file in the menu, as evidenced by JKA's menu. Perhaps, we could make a larger filmed file with a loop, that gives the impression of a 3D menu, while not actually being one? What do you think? Contrary to several opinions, I believe a game's menu is part of the experience, and should be treated with the same love and care as the rest of the game. Tempust85 likes this Link to comment
Tempust85
I can put in a 3d scene (not a map) but it won't have any lighting so I would have to bake shadowing onto the textures. It is doable though. Or I could just make it a video. Link to comment
KCDodger
Yeah, the video is what I'm suggesting. Make a nice vid of a pretty 3D setting, record, say, "LOL 3D MENU GUYS." Link to comment
Tempust85
Here's how the main menu looks right now: Logo has a shine shader. Any suggestions? Circa and Archangel35757 like this Link to comment
Raz0r
Pretty much perfect. Maybe generate some new fonts. Link to comment
Tempust85
I can make new ones in photoshop, but I don't know how to make a .fontdat file which I assume has the location for each character. Link to comment
Circa
I believe that's what this file does. https://jkhub.org/files/file/371-jafont/ Though I haven't tried it yet. Link to comment
Raz0r
Yep, that's what I use. So simple. Link to comment
Tempust85
Yeah works a treat, but not for what I want to do. So I made images be used as buttons: eezstreet, z3filus, Archangel35757 and 2 others like this Link to comment

minilogoguy18
Dude, that's awesome, I love it. Like the sketch of what I'm assuming Kyle kinda hiding in plain sight in the background, subtle and well placed. This definitely gets my vote as the final draft for the main menu backdrop.
