aXiom Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 hi i have got a question. if you open the console while searching for multiplayer games it tells you how many ppl are playing right now .can someone tell me the numbers? thanks
MUG Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 And it includes empty servers (see: most servers)
Jango40 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Indeed... and a lot of servers. These numbers can't be right, at anytime there are about 100 players playing. 529 would have to be a true achivement nowdays.
CaptainChar Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 "fixing the ship is easy, now reading klingon, thats a different story"
aXiom Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 wow last time i checked ( about 3-4months ago) the number was 1000+-
MagSul Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I presume that this figure does change depending upon the time of day. >.> Link, Raz0r and Cloud Senatu like this
Cloud Senatu Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 "fixing the ship is easy, now reading klingon, thats a different story hard" Fixed And yeah, probably a could 3/5th's of those numbers are bots these days.I honestly doubt there's more than 200 actual people playing all at once.. but that's just my opinion.
eezstreet Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 The numbers could be affected by (mostly) MB2's DDOS issue, since very few people play MB2 anymore after that.
eezstreet Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Wasn't that fixed? It's caused by some guy who purchased a dedicated DDoS service. There's no fixing that without nuking someone's internet service.
Mysterious Stranger Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Thought serverArk had some protection for some troubles I've been reading about in the mb2 forums.. Or maybe it's a different ddos then.
Didz Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 We can approximate how many players as opposed to bots there are playing online at the time by checking the status of each server in the list and ignoring any player with ping 0. If anyone wants to write a program to do that, go ahead.

spior Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I already have the code working in SpiBot.Some of the servers just aren't replying to my getstatus and I have no idea why.Poke me too if any of you two get it working, I've been brainstorming on this for freaking ever.
minilogoguy18 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 You also can't leave out the big chunk of people who don't play online, suprisingly even though SP is boring there are lots of people who strictly play that or just a solo MP match with bots.

Astral Serpent Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Kinda a late reply, but Qtracker already does this. But does it compile statistics over a year to determine which hours and days are most active?
Mog Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I'll just make the logical conclusion that there may be about 20+ servers that have at least 10 or so human players. A small portion of those servers (such as EK, EFF, JP and JAWA) get 20+ players. I'll make the guess that the majority of JKA players are European, since most servers are based from Europe. Average age of the player is around 15. As for the total amount of currently active players, I would put the number around 130 to 150. Like I said, this is only a logical assumption.
Mog Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 You mean 150 at one time, not in total. Right? That's the total amount of active players that would be playing on a normal day during peak hours.
