DID WE JUST FORM "THE HUB OF ROCK"? ... Anyway, thanks everyone for your responses so far by far more than I hoped for. I'll post this on JAWA and a few other communities I'm part of to get the ball rolling.
-
In what way could you contribute if we got this rolling ?

Posted this in the Staff Area a couple of weeks ago, would love to hear other opinions So whilst speaking to Circa a couple of days ago I had the idea that perhaps we could make some sort of music album from groups/players across the community. The idea is simple, we gather interest from people who play certain instruments, sing and/or compose by advertising on well known communities around JK, then make them come together to work on some songs which we could sell and give to charity Obviously the logistics of this are a bit fuzzy, I've never done anything like this and I am not musically gifted as e.g. Circa is but I believe we could get something really cool put together if we tried hard, and hopefully raise some decent cash for a charity/charities. Jobs that come to mind are: Musicians/VocalistsWriters/ComposersAlbum art designers (Mine is just to spark imagination I'm sure others could come up with something better, we could hold contests maybe?)AdvertisersA few project managers to ensure everyone is workingI'd love to hear what others think

Just FYI we are now discussing this and should have something set up that hopefully appeals to everyone very soon
-
Which one? I'll take a look.

For example: Is this done similarly to how GMod changes the appearance of a player model ingame? And in regards to the menus, I meant.. for example the speed cvar could have a slider that the player can move when they hit the esc key. Would be a lot more user friendly than console commands/cvars
-
I'd just like to say, this is the first time I've heard of this mod and it's something I've been hoping to come along for a good 5-6 years now at least... this will make filming JKA videos a breeze @_@ I just looked at some of your images, can you modify a players appearance like you seem to be suggesting? (You've probably written that somewhere, so sorry for asking ) The blur on that video... good lord @_@ I plan on making Kyle Katarns Alternate Dimension Part 3 pretty soon and would love to use your mod. Is it currently all cvar based or will you have fancy menus in the future for some of this stuff?

Head on over to this area: http://jkhub.org/tutorials/category/13-modelling/ You should find at least some of it useful

I know segway doesn't want to say it publicly, but he did tell me privately that he didn't "acquire" the game in the usual methods as he lost the CD.... Hopefully that assists with the support you'll receive in this thread. Your best bet is simply saving up money and purchasing the game through Steam. Besides, you'll make Kyle upset:
-
Hey Warden, welcome to the hub
-
Thanks to everyone who has so far contributed their ideas to this thread, we'll try and get that meeting sorted today/the following week. If any one has any other points then by all means keep going
-
For example, if you uploaded an image that belongs to someone else, JKHub would not know of this and wouldn't take action. We can't verify every file that is submitted to us and would only act if the file had obvious illegally ported content or if the original owner of that content contacted us and made a case that some/all of the files in the mod are his. We do check files to see if they contain anything against our rules, but there's always a chance that something will slip through, especially content that isn't the authors.
-
A simple program to convert audio files into a format that makes them useable in JKA would be really handy, although I have no idea who could make something like that.
-
We're trying to organize a little staff meeting before we go any further, this should hopefully be done by tomorrow afternoon I realize you have made a lot of points over the past 8 pages Eez, is it possible you could sum up your proposed changes that you've been referring to in bullet point form so we can discuss it easier. If any one else wishes to do the same then by all means go for it

Merged your introduction threads I'm sure they would, it'd be good having a "universal NPC support pack" so that when they download a popular model/skin, it'll be automatically supported by your pack
-
Anything greater than 50mb should be hosted elsewhere (You could make a dropbox perhaps) and linked to your file, we'll do the rest.
-
Welcome to the hub might I suggest you make files that only include NPC support files? That way you are not reuploading another authors work with or without permission. E.g. you could make a pk3 that contains a ton of npc files in the ext_data folder, it could be called the Segway NPC Pack

We'd much prefer authors to submit their work on their own so that we're not ripping from JKFiles. We've contacted hundreds of authors and told them about our website, and the majority of those people have submitted their work already. We might not have more files than JKFiles right now, but I'd say we have a better selection quality wise. We also have a lot of files exclusive to JKHub, especially player models feel free to check them out. If you'd like another authors files on this website then I suggest emailing them and encouraging them to do so. You could even upload their work for them BUT we have strict guidelines on doing this so it's fair for authors. You can find them here: http://jkhub.org/page/rules.html

I watched all of the endless mountain one for some reason, I found it oddly relaxing >_> IS THAT WEIRD? -
Nope, that's why I kept trying to say "illegal ported content" rather than "ported models" if we receive a complaint against a file, and it has evidence backing it then it should be taken down. We can't be expected to examine every inch of a file to see if it contains illegal content, but we always try our best.
-
If the owner of the images makes a dispute and provides evidence of something being their property, then JKHub will take action to remove it. Otherwise you are free to submit files according to our file submission rules.
-
Absolutely, if you dislike it then nobody is stopping any one from leaving it's a long standing rule of the site and will be upheld.
-
Even if that were true, JKHub can still disallow files that are proven to have content not authorized from the original author based on our current rules.
