Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat. When it's really on a huge sale I'll play it and probably enjoy it, but I'm not about to drop full price on this unless it improves

"to prove" lol
-
Clever use of Jaden. Big points for that!

So double post, but for information -- apparently tag_blade is actually tag_blade1. So a simple hex edit won't work due to a length change. It's faster just to import the models into Blender and change the tag name then re-export. Hex editing can be done, but it's faster to use Blender at this point.
-
Hex edit it. Open it in some free Hex editor from the web. type over f l a s h with b l a d e . Done.
-
For non-modelers, this can be done in a hex editor as well given that the tags have the same character length.
-
NICE! He totally wasted you though

Double post, but because I found a fix: The log at the bottom said Import/Export XSI: The dotXSI.dll (NT) or libdotxsi.so (IRIX) is missing or the class is not registered. To fix this, you need to XSI to the PATH System Environment Variable. https://xsisupport.com/2012/05/07/the-case-of-the-missing-dotxsi-dll-nt-or-libdotxsi-so-irix

Hmm, I'll keep trying. Animations are new territory for me. I was thinking of doing a few new idle stances for SWBF jedi and sith and thought I could use the JA ones for reference to match.

What could've been.. (Old **cancelled** STAR WARS games)
Teancum replied to General Howard's topic in Art, Media & Technology
"NEW" information. That book has been out for years. I have it on my shelf. The page you're talking about is not covered any more than what you see. Basically they say "Hey, we wanted to make a JK3. It got canned very early on." You turn the page and see all the titles they were thinking of. -
That must be what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to flat-out import the file in SI 2013

[WIP] Q3ME: a 3ds Max Level Design Plugin
Teancum replied to AshuraDX's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
Nice! It makes me wish your character was holding a little RC remote control. -
No, that image was just inspiration for the head choice. We can just say he decided to grow a full beard and happened to not tie his hair back that day. Didn't notice that before, I'll put it on the to-do.

Been a long time since I posted in this topic. Below is a concept for an improved Corran Horn. I've always wanted to do a New Republic EU mod, and he's one of my favorite characters from that timeline. Body is the standard hapslash JA jedi, reskinned by Tyrael64. Head is a KotOR male player head with the hair slightly reddened. I figured that the head was uncommon to JA and so could personify a specific character. Dunno if using the head from KotOR is allowed though. This would be for Star Wars Battlefront 2, but if it's permitted in the rules I can rig the head and release it for JA as well. Body is still rigged to JA bones, but the head isn't. I'd have to learn weight painting in Blender to rig the head -- I'm usually doing that in XSI. Inspiration for the head choice was taken from here (not trying to make a direct copy though)

Rumor: EA Cancels open-world SW game
Teancum replied to the_raven's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
The report says it was early in development, so I'm not going to lose any sleep. Lots of projects get cancelled. -
True. Separate issue from the perfectionist thing though. All that discussion aside I don't wanna hijack Jeff's thread any further. He's a good guy who has worked hard to help the community.
-
On that note, why does Kyle always have dark armpits? It's an odd design choice that makes him look like he sweats too much.
-
Fair enough, but more perfectionists should learn to do it themselves if that's the case. It feels like too often they come off as dumping on others' work but are unwilling to step up and help out. We have plenty of good idea folk in any community, but not enough that step up. It feels very "Little Red Hen"

That's me too feelings-wise. Like the Crait Luke request. I'm flabbergasted that Tompa's first version wasn't good enough for some. I thought it was fantastic, and the accuracy gripes just make me think 'this isn't a 2019 game'. To each their own, but I don't need the level of detail that involves making sure the buckle on a character's boots are square and not round (as an example). Do I feel like the character when I play as them? That's all I care about.
-
If I recall correctly Jeff never said he was doing Darth Krayt, but he has been asked many times. I double we'll see him due to how complex the armor is. That's a lot of very specific detail work that couldn't be borrowed from (or used on) another character.
-
To temper everyone's expectations, the author says in the video description he's only doing the first level. Checking out his channel I'm also interested to see whether his Jedi Power Battles ARMA mod gets traction

Recently saw fan art just like this. Fantastic!

Need help with creating a shader for my custom hilt
Teancum replied to PreFXDesigns's topic in Modding Assistance
Okay, so that's a snazzy looking hilt. Well done. -
Force Arena is a fantastic mobile game that I've never spent a penny on. I don't do a lot of gaming on my phone, but I love that when I need to kill time I can play a great Star Wars game on it.
