    Vination.eu I Like!

JKA is awesome for making fragmovies, don't be stupid.
  2. That was a good post, @@Artorias. You should fix your links though. I'd also mention our wiki about all things jka (even if its not so very extensive right now). Besides that, I am a bit sad that there is no mention of tja.net on the schools section, but then they're pretty dead in general, so it doesn't make too much of a difference and is just fine as it is. Maybe you could add a link or two to fragvideos though, so that people get a taste of what you can do with the gameplay. I'm massively biased, but tritoch's Cyclone http://www.igmdb.org/?m=898 and some guy's Rev4 http://www.igmdb.org/?m=1624 are the ones I like. Should have an mb2 one in there too. Other than that, an excellent intro post.
  3. Pretty much what has been said: A new JK game would inevitably be mediocre at best. But on another note, are there any plans to ride the player explosion wave and widely advertise the hub (or ctf, mb2, anything) on steam/ingame?
  4. I had that CTF archive in mind when I asked for one.
  5. Your first post doesn't sound like you were needing a fine comb to figure out those "personal stories" that you thought were inappropriate, and it takes very little time to just backspace an entire entry with the argument that fanfiction has no place on the wiki. I've done that before.
  6. Everyone active on the wiki agrees that it's not there for fanfiction or essays, so as long as your alterations are reasonable and well argued for, I can't see anyone objecting.
  7. Your skillset does cover the suggestions, since the deletion of "opinions" and "personal stories" is very easy and takes very little effort. I also don't see how that would constitute a change in direction, since the wiki is not for posting fanfiction or essays, but rather for information about the game and its community.
  8. And I suggested you go ahead and improve on the things you find so problematic. The beauty of the wiki is that everyone can edit it, after all. No need to get defensive...
  9. Then get to improving them. I have yet to see you contribute anything to the wiki.
  10. Since we can't compete with igmdb, the IP.Gallery thing might as well be scratched (but we can easily compete with the ESL now that they decided to bastardize the jka section and jkleague is a non-entity anyways, no offence to silva). A (tabular and extensive) demo archives, ladders, custom sections for inhouse tournaments and forum based rewards for competing in them should be the priority (other forms of forum integration could be things like buttons that can be seen everytime a person posts and allows others to challenge said person to a ladder match etc). I think a wiki or somesort of an info page on things jka should definitely be kept and made more prominent and visible here. Pug servers are mostly good for getting the word out, so they're not necessary right now since we don't have anything to advertise anyways. Maybe you could start advertising JKHub staff positions again just to get additional coders onto the team.
  11. Yeah, of course. Go for it!
  12. And then finally, driven by the shining display of reason, JKHub was reborn in a heartbeat. Fully implemented, custom ladders for 1v1 and TDM, a custom brackets section for tournaments, all with special features that spill into the forums, like custom icons beneath a user's avatar that display for how long he has been dominating the #1 on the ladders and how many tournaments he has won. A JKHub pug server rising from the ashes like a pheonix and leaving in its wake only the dead remnants of ESL's new crappy forums and website structure.
  13. There needs to be lots more work put into the website to give others an incentive to participate, but as you said, there's only so much any single person (or a small team of people) can do at a time. Short of bolstering the ranks with coders, there's not much that can be done. But at least we got past the finger pointing part faster this time around.
  14. People have posted a lot of stuff on the wiki and have shown great interest in it during a time when even JKHub was more active than it now is. You have "accepted it" - with the result? "Wiki implementation is really low on our list of priorities, sorry guys!" And this is just off the top of my head. EDIT: But I'm happy to see that you have apparently moved away from the claim that all of us are equally 'in a position to freely contribute and shape the community into something other than it already is' and have now (hopefully) moved on to merely encouraging suggestions. This is good and I like it.
  15. The best spot for intercontinental play might be Iceland, as long as the players are from the east coast or northern/central Europe, but even there we're talking of pings around 90-110 for most people. So yeah, I don't really see any reason for europeans to leave ESL over this, especially given that they are disadvantaged, but I really like the idea of having an american league for once again.
  16. I don't care if it's illegal and to be fair, in this context, it is extremely unlikely that anyone that matters will step in to do anything about your modding adventures. If you think it's a good idea, then just go for it.
  17. So the question is supposed to be "what are you listening to when you are modding?" Because in that case, my answer would be nothing: For anything I do that requires a certain amount of focus, I need strict silence and it is impossible for me to do any meaningful work with music in the background. So I guess I'm just one of those people.
  18. You could always just switch programs. Sony Vegas is what I used back in the days, but Adobe Premiere is quite popular as well. For post-processing, Adobe After Effects is the place to be. I believe all of them have free trials available.
  19. Not familiar with the program, but when you export it from the editor, it surely compresses and encodes the footage by default. There's surely a way to export it losslessly (if you have the hdd space) or keep compression down to a minimum (if you don't have the hdd space). Check your settings!

    Who are you?
  21. What is good? To crush the Jedi, see them driven before us and hear the lamentations of the Republic.
  22. I will not join because I'm not a huge fan of RP but I will say that this was an enjoyable and amusing read.
  23. I like ffa2 the best. For some reason I always had a problem with ffa3, probably because of the brightness of the textures in the main area. For duels, I will admit that I have a strong fondness for duel10, although duel3's craziness is definitely a plus.
