  1. jk2/jka strong because 1) quake 3 engine with strafing. Best movement of any system ever. By far 2) very good dueling/mechanics. Kind of like tekken but with more control and less confusions. No need for crazy button combinations to remember and such. dueling flows naturally in this yet with a pretty good amount of depth. 3)fantasy. textures. good level designs. lots of models, etc. In jk2, I actually liked the balance a little better than jka. Blue style seems very pointless and weak in jka making it essentially a two saber styles system rather than three as in jk2. Idk I like the styles system. Maybe have 5 of them and try to add more depth variation. etc. More saber mechanics for blocking/parrying etc would be nice.
  2. The 90's was full of fast paced shooters, which really don't exist anymore. The movement system was so superb in quake 3 (and the graphics were a big plus) that it created the perfect game, and not just got jk2/jka but for defrag also. A jediknight game with some of these bad engines would be a really bad thing.

  4. You're using sock's tutorial? I'm pretty sure the compiler has to be at least 2.5.16 level to do that dot product shader. The default 1.4 compiler was at least last time I checked lower than the required. I used to have to manually update my compiler to do dot product shader via szico's old tutorial on updating. idk even know if that tutorial is around anymore.

  7. Guess I have an apple 30-inch Cinema Display from 2010 that is 2560×1600 resolution. Guess it's time for upgrade soon
  8. I've been told 4k is basically 4x the total resolution of standard high definition or another way to think of it would be 2x in each dimension. Multiple those and get 4x. So what resolution would that be and can jka/jk2 be displayed in that?
  9. If we ever get another good quake engine, idk why they wouldn't just partner with blender or 3dmax or something that way the modeling and the level making isn't all just one one program. Hopefully one that could do more as well.
  10. In game it's "unable to find music "music\passion.mp3" as explicit track or dynamic music entry!" But put the pk3 in jk2 base and it works fine. All other sound effects and textures and shaders work perfectly in both games.
  11. I have a jk2 map that is completely compatible w jk3 except the music. The music file mp3 works in jk2 but once map gets to jka it says an error. Needs to be wav only in jka?

  14. For the 3d grid. Say if I'm all the way at the very top of the grid and I need to move somewhere crazy far away sometimes it takes like 1 min to get there.
  15. I have a map that starts at v bottom of grid and ends at v top. I need a way to move around faster. Any quick buttons ppl know about to move around in map. I use page up and page down if Im inside a structure but if I'm outside I need to move faster also.
  16. It's a giant pain. I've used sock's terrain blending in a couple maps. As his shaders currently sit, you get bad tiling effect unless you're indoors and very close up to them. I had to readjust all the shaders to scale up the textures as he has them blending very tinyish. Although they did look nice in the map, I eventually concluded it's mostly not worth it doing the dotproduct shader. Some of Szico's use of this shader is ridiculously awesome though. He applied this technique to horizon blending in Atlantica.

  21. That's loda's instructions for doing so. I assume I have to put that japro_entities.def somewhere and add it to a list somewhere as well so gtk knows to look for it, but not really sure how to do that or to even save the file correctly I assume notepad would do?
  22. Ah ya this was nice map. Where did you get the loda statues or how did you make them?
