  1. @staff God you guys still havent done that? Anyways, where is the getting started thread? Maybe in the tutorial section, you should pin a topic like "Getting started" which goes over the structure of the game, the rules of the game (i.e. vert limits etc), what shader syntax it uses, how pk3's are compiled, etc. Just a real lubed up entry for the uninitiated.

      Group mentions can be done but are a paid plugin for the forum software. If you want to donate to it, Chalk, I will get it and install it. 😛 The new account message idea isn't bad, I'll have to look into that.

      I do hope to have a front page overhaul that focuses less on news posts and more on stuff like that, but I'm not sure when that'll happen.

  2. Are bone root and effector nulls a Softimage proprietary thing, or do other engines use this technique as well?

  3. I've blown another PSU. This one shot a white spark out the back of my tower. It was epic. Being my fourth PSU, any thoughts on what's causing it?

      1060 with 650W here, no problems

      A 650 meets well over the need for a 1060, I think the recommended is 450. I've seen 400 work with it though

      Sounds to me like you're getting those parts from yard sales, if you're already at 5th PSU ...

      Or go into the SI settings and setup the auto backup feature but I think it's on by default so you might wanna look.

      Not that I'm aware of. I was exploring under the influence and just thought it looked nice. They should go back to letting us submit backgrounds every month or so though.

  7. If the mod is not released... chances are it is beyond our scope. We are not with-holding dire tricks to JKA. (besides me in the case of the force repulse) lol so try to do it yourself and THEN ask questions. Theres hundreds if not thousands of requests but not many people take it into their own hands to release it, which is in reality what it takes to get your mod released.

  12. Zbrush is creating disgusting seams along my uv cuts. After searching it seems like a common problem. Anyone concur?

      No idea - I don't export normals from Zbrush. I use either Substance Painter's built-in baker or xNormal

      Difficult to tell without seeing the assets but i would not use Zbrush for baking. Xnormal would be a better choice. However you could bake a world object space map in Zbrush and convert it to tangent with handplane, it might get rid of the problem. Start a thread if you need more in-depth help.

  13. Ive loked at a few references of jabba and have no idea how he walks. would you say like a snake? pushing as it bends. does it bend up and down like a bookwork or sideways?

      I think there needs to be more strength coming from his tail's movement. In other references it'd seem that's what pushes him forward and in your animation it looks a bit weaker.

      Thats a really nice reference thank you! I think ill do it like that with a bit less side to side action. The scene right before that with zero is a great reference of upper body thanks again

      There was a speeder racing mod in the works a while back. It probably died. They scaled vehicles down so the maps would be race friendly.

      I don't know. I think they disappear when I'm not looking at them, so I think they're really just NPCs with BS_REMOVE. If you think about it, it would explain paranormal powers: /control door, /npc kill monitor, and to make everything look weird, /npc showbounds.

      afaik this is not supported.

      well technically speaking, it should be possible. Each LOD is a model on it's own after all, you'd just assign other (downsized?) textures to it... but not sure how efficient that would be.

  21. Can someone please decipher the different things in animations.cfg for me. What are the LK_ and R_ and S_ and T_??

      Well there are a lot to go though, playing some of them can kinda help. For instance, BOTH_A3_BL_TR means both upper and lower body, attack with 3rd style (red), swing from bottom left to top right.
