We just celebrated our 17th year anniversary as a community.
This year has been very difficult for many of us but that difficulty has brought us more closer than ever before.
I am typing this message for marketing purposes but I am specifically trying to reach those who have lost their way from JKA or JoF for whatever reason and is missing the sense of belonging that we offer.
Allow me to share a post I made on our forums, written on the 22nd of August 2023.QuoteIt's so very easy to examine the past, see all of your prior mistakes and conclude how much you have grown and changed for the better across time.
I must remind you that we started this community as teenagers and I myself was a 13 year old kid who was definitely not ready to be a leader.
But you know what? In some ways, we still possessed certain qualities that were beneficial and kept in high regard back then despite being mere children. In the early days, I'm talking 2006-2007: We as leaders were much better when it came to showing gratitude.
There was a time where a topic was written almost every single month (with horrendously flawed grammar, I might add) by either me or Shree.
It was always about how much this community meant to us and how thankful we were to everyone for being in it.
What is equally important is that we were fortunate enough to have members who recognized this genuine attentiveness.
Yes we were ambitious, the forms grew to be appealing, the clan structure was genious and the SMC was like sprinkles to an already great cake.
But honestly, I think an overlooked aspect of what made JoF into what it is today was the fact that we were human and we had so much gratitude for the tiniest moments.
Any questionable decision or eyebrow raising moment was almost always excused by you because you knew us and you knew how much we deeply cared. One of the benefits to this kind of leadership is that when we leaders acknowledge a member, they tend to make a little extra mental note of it.
Over the years, this acknowledgment from us to you has certainly decreased due to a multitude of reasons (mainly sheer size and our own limited free time).
It remains most prominent during anniversary events or occasional one to ones with usually high ranking members.
Gone are the days of long essays where we wrote what was on our hearts and instead we settled for having members work towards fulfilling arbitrary goals.
A sincere thanks has been replaced with GZ and an emblem on your profile as if we're smacking members asses and saying "now get back out there champ".
While the aforementioned is not likely to change for practical purposes, it is still worth acknowledging (and hey, atleast the emblems are beautiful). We take our R&D for granted as we enthusiastically share our vision, forgetting that we are requesting for members to spend their valuable time and energy.
Some of you may have noticed random holocrons being granted to you in the recent few months from me for what may perceived as small details.
This may seem trivial to some but it really is a cool way of being able to say thank you unexpectedly by highlighting that we appreciate and recognize you.
And while I simply won't be able to individually thank everyone, I am writing this topic in order to connect a little bit more deeply with you all yet again.
Additional reasons for this topic is that throughout my recent social dancing success, I ultimately feel as if I have found back to my inner child.
I have strongly internalized that any external validation and all encompassing love can only sincerely come from within yourself.
And I have been fortunate enough to have always felt that love right here towards you, infront of this very screen.I create this topic to thank all of you for being members here, being my friends and for sharing these precious times with us.
It is the small minor things in life that makes us feel alive and I am reminded that love is the act of giving with no expectation in return.
And while I hope my grammar is slightly better then 2006, I just want you all to know that my heart is truly still the same."Thank You {JoF} For Making Our Lives Best ."
[...]
Let's promise to try and look after each other, because that is simply what we do.
...Let's also avoid any leadership surveys going forward though...For Diego.
Long Live!

We recently launched {JoF}Holocrons V2!
Holocrons are a system in the community that grants you items/credits for bonuses ingame and some on our forums.
You can ONLY obtain them through community related achievements!SpoilerIt's a dream come true to be able to use two saber stances that we believe many players were completely unaware of.
Outside of NPCs using them or bosses in SP, most players probably don't even know of their existance.
Locking it behind community progress and holocron credits will ensure continued contribution.
Capping it to master rank is the way to go as we trust our masters to not misuse it. -
@PreFXDesigns Do you seperate between detailed and structural brushes in radiant? That should impact compile time quite much and it will also affect fps performance ingame. All brushes inside of a room should be selected and made into detail whereas every brush touching the surface outside (void) should remain structural.

Hello everyone!
I'm PreFX and I'm a member of Jedi of Freedom (JoF). I'm an experienced skinner but still quite new to mapping.
This map you are about to see, in the spoiler below, I have made for JoFBall. This is an upgraded gamemode of Kyleball. Some of you might still remember kyleball, it's a football/soccer themed game.
In JoFBall we have replaced the 'Kyle npc' with a ball (edited sentryball) and have scripts running that prevent you from dying on the pitch. This new map allows everyone to play on the same time instead of having to take turns (3v3) in the original Kyleball4 map. I'm really proud on what I have achieved in such a short time period (+/- 3 months). The issue I have is that the playermodels tends to be very dark in most spaces with a fast light compile. However only in the stadium (Anfield) it seems to be rather okay. Perhaps this is due to the larger open space?
It seems that the character is also brighter while being in the air, i think this is due to the red/blue panels in the arena (1st & 2nd picture) and the bricks in the street map (3rth & 4th picture) blocking off the light.Below you can see another demonstration on the difference between a FINAL(BSP, Full VIS, Full Light) and FINAL (long time compile) from the Q3map2GUI compiler.
You might think, why not go for a final long compile? Well, I tried this for only 1/3 of the map and this already took over 8 hours (still at bounce 2 at that moment ...).
I noticed in the Q3map2GUI compiler that you can choose a ton of options. Perhaps it is possible to fix this issue by making a custom compile without it taking to long to compile?
I would really appreciate if something could give me his/her expertise on this

I actually wanted to have a JA++ server but it seems they only offer JA+. Does anyone have experience renting a server from them? $10 for a 32 slot sounds good but not sure if I should trust it. I think I may have had a server hosted by Caelum a few years back but have been unable to contact him so im not sure if he even offers those services anymore. Any tips would be appreciated
A low populated server probably will be fine but if you get any ddos or such (usually reserved for more active servers), expect your server to be hit offline rather easily.
There's only one service you should be going with IMO and that's @Asulynn's https://asutech.io/.Asulynn likes this -

There is a member on our forums who has done some nifty stance stuff (one arm behind the back, think Dooku and Makashi) by having it set to an actual model, eg. /model ari/makashi
Can't remember exactly who right now though and it may be too much work to create something like that for a non member...
But if you have no luck here, check out our forums at jofacademy.eu > forums and start a topic in introduction there as he/she may be able to help out.EDIT: And if you're the same Ari who is currently on trial to join us, then yeah just make a topic XD

I don't remember the exact details of this but check if the images have "progressive encoding" and try both with and without it to see which works (whatever that means, I just recall that fixing a few texture issues).

I don't get it... This is online only I thought. No NPC's...?
Either way, I've been slowly putting all the cool content from all SW eras together using various people's work along with my own to make a master collection of content for playing against computer players. It's gonna take me forever but I'm loving building it! Kinda like your idea... I love the idea of moviebattles, I just don't wanna play with humans...
Yeah he was asking for "JK Multiplayer with movie duels" so MB2 came to mind!
If you want SP, then Movie Duels is probably the closest.

Just a word of caution: We're absolutely booming on our {JoF} community forums to the point of the activity being overwhelming and a big part of that (outside of constantly recruiting new members) is that we don't officially endorse/use Discord. We believe it detracts from forum activity (and we have past data from experimental attempts to back that up). Discord is faster and more modern, people will form groups with each other and just quickly share links/questions there rather than bring up a forum and start a topic, waiting longer for replies etc. So whatever Discord plans you have, It'd be a good idea to tread carefully (assuming the aim is to increase or maintain forum activity here).
We also try to share what we're up to every now and then here (especially custom created content). I made a topic earlier wanting to share some of our screenshots/videos as we have monthly picture and video contests but I don't know where to place any of that without the fear of it coming across as aggressive marketing. But I generally believe it would be of benefit to have new gameplay footage rolling in on the forums. It basically scratches an itch to get ingame when you see footage of others having fun.
Other than that, tutorials, competitions and just all things JK related is gold here. We link to JKHub in many cases inside of our pinned topics. Expanding all of that would be a good way to go.

Just use Q3Map2GUI as a program with Ydnars latest Q3Map2 compiler.
Point your GTKRadiant install to Ydnars compiler too and only use Radiant to compile it whenever you want to fix leaks, as it will draw them visually.Q3Map2GUI:
http://3d-get.de/q3map2gui/
Ydnar's latest Q3Map2 can be found there too (press Important Links). Now if the latest Ydnar Q3Map2 doesn't work for some reason (I haven't exactly remained updated) =>
Then just go with the probably outdated 64-bit >2GB Ram unlocked one here at JKHub:

This screen was taken by me on consoles (PS5) a few days ago.
Either Binny had a jesus level resurrection or OP trolled everyone here...
(Unless you maybe subscribe to the idea that someone created a fake PSN just to call himself Binnysan in console JKA (?)):I remembered reading about this topic which is why I had to come back and share this!

Our community makes a lot of streamable gifs/videos and it'd be kinda fun to make a topic and share those here too.
The only caveat is that the plugin for embedding streamable does not exist on these boards.
Could this be added? (iirc it should be free)

For example see it from a new persons perspective. They join the game and naturally want to saber someone. They suddendly either get immobilised by admin powers that are probably a little too much fun to use.
6 hours ago, Circa said:Unfortunately a lot of big clan servers have had these strict rules for so many years now that they don't really understand what it looks like from an outside perspective, especially when some of them don't venture out to play other games.
In regards to laming, you guys need to factor in the other side of it too.
I personally loathe the traditional laming rule myself purely due to how damn unrealistic it is. However, there is a reason for it's existence and I would argue that expecting everyone to FFA in an FFA server is equally unrealistic.
You argue that this is not good for new/outside players, but a new player getting beaten to a bloody pulp by more veteran players with no way of protecting themselves is the main reason why that laming rule became popular to begin with. JKA is a highly skill oriented game, and new players just don't stand a fucking chance. We don't have the traditional "saber down = don't kill" rule, but ours is rather: "stop attacking people who don't wish to fight".
In other words, don't be a dick. You can fully play the game by just dueling, but if it is a full out FFA you want, stick to people who actually want to fight. There are people who enjoy jumping around, chatting, climbing, roleplaying, sparring a friend, holding mini events, recording something, riding npcs and doing all sorts of other weird shit. Our aim is to try and create an environment where all of this can co-exist without one dude coming in and pissing all over it.
It's very easy to cyber bully new and/or sensitive players, and while everyone needs to learn the importance of a thick skin (as this is unavoidable no matter how many rules you setup) -- We as a community will help to promote a healthy environment, as much as we can. Even if it is damn annoying.
I myself would give two shits about anyone killing me, but that is a luxury I can't expect of everyone as people are inherently different and unlike new players, I can actually fight back. As for bans, we practically only place them if there's a large outcry requesting it. I don't think we ever banned based on a single case, it's usual a serial rule breaker who breaks the "don't be a dick" guideline as tons of members jump into the topic and reinforce this. It's a case of trusting the majority who play daily when it comes to judging on what makes for a healthy environment on the server. If you succeed in giving players a good experience, chances are that they will come back for more.
All in all, I just wanted to share our thoughts as one of the more large clans out there.

JA++ isn't being actively developed anymore as far as I know and most servers still use JA+ with EternalJK as client so your chances of fixing those/any bugs are unlikely.

I know I'm late here but essentially it does scale up somewhat, but you won't be able to go super high and match a tall bounding box so the "neck" is where it basically stopped for me too! It's not perfect.
