  1. I think you're misinterpreting the situation, we're open sourcing in preparation for going stand alone and to use the new Jedi Academy source code. The new official source release is under GPL which requires you to be under GPL as well (meaning to use their source code you have to be open source too). If anything this just means that code progress will go faster, eezstreet explained it well:
  2. You can read the official announcement and news about the next update coming soon on our moddb page news article: May the Source be With You!
  3. @@Pande and I did some research on this a while back.
  4. This idea sounds really awesome, I think this would go amazing with Gunslinger's Academy (I should work on getting 2.4.5 ready for release, it's been a while since either eezstreet or I have touched that mod so I'm a bit fuzzy on what all needs to be done). Either way I'd love to attend this if you guys host another match sometime. Also, I think I could get a temporary (non-homehost) server up if you guys need one.
  5. @@Delta_135 admittedly I have been playing Perfect Dark a lot recently, but those first couple screenshots absolutely scream "Perfect Dark" to me (and that's a good thing) Great work so far guys, I haven't been doing any modeling at all recently, been busy working on some of my own projects lately and I was doing a lot of stuff IRL not too long ago. I'll see if I can correct that soon though
  6. Wow, that is atmospheric! Maybe we could have irradiated areas with little secret areas hidden amongst the maze of the (danger) zone? Hazy Maze from Super Mario 64 anyone?
  7. Piratepad is basically a word document that multiple people can work on at the same time to quote them on this "This pad text is synchronized as you type, so that everyone viewing this page sees the same text. This allows you to collaborate seamlessly on documents!" We could have a log on the piratepad that can be viewed/edited at any time. Also it keeps a history of the pad so you can go back and see old revisions. A shader file probably doesn't need to be kept on the piratepad as long as everyone makes sure to add all of their shaders to the shader file from the previous mapper (keeping it all in one shader file) etc. I was about to start a new piratepad for the PMA but piratepad just went down (doesn't happen very often) so we should definitely keep a local copy of the log file if we put that on the piratepad Also we should all probably get on the jkhub irc channel every so often.... team meetings?
  8. This would keep everything a bit more organized, also lets people who need help with shaders to easily get it just by saying "it's on the piratepad" Gets rid of the need to combine all the different shader files at the end (or worse, leave them all there for people with lots of mods in their base folder to hit the shader limit ).
  9. Why don't we use a piratepad for a shader file? That way any edits can be made on a copy everyone can see/edit and any fixes to the shader can be done by anyone. Just a suggestion though. Also, nobody commented on my helicopter
  10. So I was totally naughty and started working on this before the poll actually ended but here's that helicopter I mentioned earlier in the thread, and I'm loving what I've done with it so far. I do plan on adding more detail so don't worry about that, let me know what you guys think. I was talking with mrwonko about how we could make this into a police vehicle and have it fly around the map and shine a spotlight on stuff, he suggested using a roff to animate each part individually which would probably work great to animate the engines on the sides too. We'll see how that turns out though since apparently md3 models have a size-boundry limit and the helicopter is probably over that limit. I may be able to split the helicopter up into more parts though, we'll see.
  11. So just wondering how long will the voting poll stay open?
  12. Reference images are pictures of whatever you plan on mapping, you can use them to map to scale or just for inspiration, they're great. I don't know how I'd model without them (well, actually I do... and usually it ain't pretty )
  13. I just got this sweet idea to revamp an old helicopter model of mine and make it all futuristic, so if we do go for a cyberpunk type map I'll definitely be doing that. I could do some mapping, but I'd rather mostly leave that to other people as I'm not the greatest mapper (most of my mapping work involves modifying/fixing up map donations eezstreet and I's mod Gunslinger's Academy has received) Anyway, I voted and stuff.
  14. I'm in by the way (as a modeler, but probably not a mapper), if you guys do a ruins area I'd love to use it as a zombie map in Gunslinger's Academy whenever eezstreet and I resume work on that, but that's just an idea
  15. Ahh, I remember playing on this map after Pande showed it to me, great map... we should do something like this on JKHub!
  16. As for animations, we've been looking for a new animator to take over for almost a year, probably longer. People on the team are planning to learn since no animators have stepped forward, but everyone who is working on the mod is very busy trying to get more important things done.

    Rayman

Considering Rayman 2 was one of my childhood games and I recently got Rayman Origins this is a definite download for me
  18. pretty much finished here! Also, forgot to post this here, here's a WIP from earlier today: Edit: better render, more views:
  19. Have a WIP Repeater
  20. Shh you! I've unwrapped a couple things using the method you've shown me >_>
  21. I just about fainted when I saw 1156 tris for that thing xD Yeah, Inyri has a point here, you have a lot of pointless edgeloops that you don't need Also, UV Mapping is an important skill to learn, getting stuff ingame is easy though.
  22. you could use a model with physics clip instead
  23. It shouldn't be too bad even for one person, we don't plan on doing anything too extensive yet. Also, I'd be willing to help if they helped me learn *nudge* *nudge*
  24. Seeing all these Raptr siggys is making me want to put mine up, just to crush you people with my 5000+ hours of game time xD Looks great though, definitely downloading. I'll look forward to LoD support
