Atera
Hardly. Who uses GameSpy anymore? But its one of the master servers. The only ones remaining now are ravensoft and qtracker. Once those 2 go down, arent we done for? Link to comment

And the gamespy masterserver isn't even used by JA to find games, it's only used by the GameSpy client, and to quote myself: Who uses GameSpy anymore? Evulant likes this Link to comment

BUT, the server list in the jedi academy game => how would jkhub help there if ravensoft and qtracker goes down. dont ravensoft have to manually add jkhub to the serverlist somehow? (i dont know shit about tech so im sorry if i come across as a dumb child) Link to comment

(i dont know shit about tech so im sorry if i come across as a dumb child)The masterserver to query is hardcoded in the client (jamp.exe), so any replacement for that can also change the masterserver(s). In short, just use OpenJK. Link to comment
h643
There are a lot of servers using jkhub master already :) http://my.jacklul.com/jkhubservers/ Bacon likes this Link to comment

Say Ravensoft and Qtracker dies => Then they wont see any servers, right? (Regardless of JKHub) Link to comment
mrwonko
Yes, and then they will search for a solution and download OpenJK. Evulant, Raz0r and Circa like this Link to comment
eezstreet
Raven Software's master server is the only one that's used in the game. Don't panic - this won't affect anything at all. We can consult Raven when/if they decide to pull the plug, and discuss solutions. Link to comment

Acrobat
I play jk2 1.02 and also 1.04 often. Not much jka. Any solutions for us? sigh Link to comment
Raz0r
A solution isn't needed until Raven's master server goes down. By that time, I expect JK2MP will be added to OpenJK. Most mods won't work, unless they're recompiled as DLLs/SOs eezstreet likes this Link to comment

Raz0r
Well, not sure why you wouldn't want to. We had runtime patches to add other servers in jamp.exe about 2 years ago =p Evulant and therfiles like this Link to comment
Merek
I like my Jedi Academy multiplayer the way it is, open JK will just mess it up Link to comment
Circa
Then don't use it. eezstreet likes this Link to comment
Raz0r
I'm not sure what you mean by "mess it up" but if you have a valid concern you should raise it. If not, whatever =p but you'll be missing out on a lot of things, including master server stuff. therfiles and Evulant like this Link to comment
ensiform
Except the master servers hosted by raven software are not going anywhere (The real ones, and the one clients use) Case closed. Yay more hate words against OpenJK. Evulant likes this Link to comment
