Circa Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Our first order of business from the news post is a new interview. I wanted to use that post for you guys to submit questions but maybe this will work better. The first one up is going to be a coder interview. Since the source code released, these guys have been hard at work on OpenJK, improving on the original code released by Raven. It's really some fascinating stuff and we'd love to know more about it. Especially now that rend2 is picking up speed these last couple months. So here's how it will work. We want you guys to submit any questions you have for the coders behind OpenJK. These should be on topic for the most part. We will sift through the questions and pick the best ones, if not all, depending on the amount we receive. The coders that have been contacted can submit questions as well, since it's a group. If you are a coder that we have not contacted, feel free to PM me. This is mostly geared towards the "JACoders" working on OpenJK but that is by no means a requirement to be a part of this. Go ahead and give us some questions to ask them!
Omicron Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 How daunting was the OpenJK project when it started, and what was the first task you set out to do with the game's sourcecode? Circa likes this
ShakeThatSalt Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Is there an estimated release date for a stable version of OpenJK and will it be advertised? Circa likes this
Tempust85 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Have you been in contact with anyone from Raven since the source code was taken down? If so, what do they think of the OpenJK project & do you think they would be open to any further utility code releases such as carcass? Omicron and Circa like this
Jeff Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 What tasks are completed and how long did it take to finish those tasks? Circa likes this
mrwonko Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 What are you most excited to code, with regards to OpenJK or other Jedi Academy projects? What were your biggest surprises reading the source code? (Positive or negative.) What do you do when you're not working on OpenJK? Circa likes this

Shadzy Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 What advice would you give to up-comers of C/C++ when being captivated by OpenJK and how it has influenced them to help the community? How do you guys keep fresh with interest on OpenJK? Circa likes this
ent Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Rename to "Interview Questions: OpenJK" then it will have more sense. Looks like interview to ojk guys than just coders. soz
Circa Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 It wasn't intended to be just about OpenJK, but I guess that's what the majority of the questions are for. If that's what the people want, then I can change it to that. Doesn't matter to me.
ent Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 You forced them to think of it by mentioning in your post. (3 times!)
eezstreet Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Maybe you should specify further - "the top tier coders of JACoders/#jacoders," but that might make us look a bit snobby. I don't know. I'm just curious as to how you plan to interview. We literally live on all corners of the world (opposite corners of USA, Australia, UK, Norway, Germany, some Canadian influence..)
