Level 1: Nar shaddaa

It is funny, that Nar Shaddaa keeps discussions about DF2 and KOTOR2. To tell the truth I played a level, which represented NS from DF2 almost 99%. The difference was in speeders behind the windows and various crates and garbage, originally seen in KOTOR. It was an interesting mix of old and new ideas.

As I said before, the older version of Nar Shaddaa from DF2 has both Imperial and OT patterns, and in my opinion seeing something else in the mod would feel strange.

You can renovate the map by adding ships in the skies or more citizens and droids. Or additional rooms in the same style.

I personally feel that NS in KOTOR 2 was as bland as the JO version.  Speeders are all good an what not but the lack of NPC's walking around really made it dull.

In DF2 Nar Shaddaa looks quite abandoned. While I would agree with @@hhunter6, that more civilians would only do good, I must say, that this emptiness in the streets is a nod to the epoch we see in that game: it's been almost a year since the times of the fall of the Emperor. But the Empire is going away slowly. The dark atmosphere is still present together with the criminal presence of the scum, as mentioned above.

And the citizens wear grey to brown clothes, staying in the shadows of safe corners, rather than having a promenade near the tall buildings. Not much to see there though.

It also seems, that Kyle visits not the center of the city, where casinos and bright ads would make blind someone, unfamiliar to large cities, So this quarter is shadowy and good enough for meetings such as with 8T88. No one would interrupt. Or if necessary all participants would be made silent.

At the time I always compared Dark Forces II and The Phantom Menace video game. These two were the ones, which introduced a few cities in Star Wars universe with citizens. they are quite contrast in details. While the females in DF2 wear dark and grey clothes, sometimes hiding their head, the citizens and aliens in TPM (Theed, Mos spa and Coruscant) wear bright colourful garments, peasant sand dress or extravagant costumes, which are the trait, swift away by the Empire much later.

@@DT85, something small to add, the rodian that is supposed to ride down the elevator with the gran at the pat where there are 3 enemies on that skiff that flies off and crashes after you kill the enemies, that rodian dies when calling the elevator from within that room. Not sure why.

The Phantom Menace game uses almost the same exact engine as Dark Forces 2 since the files names are called MATS if you look in the game files.
