New Jedi Knight Jedi Academy
Mizore replied to Darth Ronin's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
I would prefer a game that is not set in Star Wars but with the same melee combat of Jedi Academy, although for me unfortunately Dark Souls is the game that lately is inspiring most of melee focused third-person games. For me to be based on Star Wars is limiting, because it can generate copyright problems and because you have to limit the video game to what is possible in this franchise. Lately there have been some indie games focused on melee third-person combat, such as Edge of Twilight, Furi, Necropolis, The Turkey of Christmas Past. I have not played them, but why not make an indie with the Jedi Academy combat system, even if it's not Star Wars? -
True, but those flaws are polished by Luke who is also Jedi.

Although some do not value peace without war, it is not right to create a war to value peace, it seems to me. I do not think the Jedi deny that some pinch of conflict is necessary for the living beings; What they deny is that there is only conflict, or that the balance of Force is a balance between conflict and non-conflict, because when conflicts begin, they tend to increase uncontrollably, making balance impossible.
-
It is if lightside is defined as peace, balance, while darkside is war, imbalance.
-
I disagree. Balance is the dominance of the lightside. A relative balance is crap; Vader killed Palpatine and so brought the balance to the Force. The dominance of the darkside is imbalance. Jedi are similar to cops, fighting for peace.
-
The Jedi did not misunderstand the prophecy; Vader brought the balance to the Force by throwing the Emperor to the pit. They just did not know at what price. And fighting for peace is not contradictory: there are cops fighting against criminals.
-
Even if that is true, the right thing is to fight for peace. The position of the Jedi is not about what there is but about what must be.
-
People can appreciate peace without war; although conflict is a necessary element of the world, it is never right to proactively seek conflict.
-
It does not make sense that the Jedi are guardians of harmony and that a dominance of the Jedi causes imbalance: balance is harmony.

My own two personal projects....
Mizore replied to TheWhitePhoenix's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
The saga suggests that the balance is not balance between light side and dark side, but primacy of the light side, as the dark side is the imbalance. -
I was referring to Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 is single player oriented.
-
For me Jedi Academy multiplayer is overrated, as Jedi Knight beginning was oriented singleplayer and not having a robust campaign may have contributed to not have more sequels.
-
What interests me is that if enemies can do one thing, you also should be able to, for example, trigger Force push and Force pull as fast as you press the buttons or use the Scepter of Ragnos.

How can I win Desann without force powers?
Mizore replied to syainkn's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
The secondary shot of Destructive Electromagnetic Pulse 2 is not dodged / rejected / blocked by Force users, so with much energy, you could defeat a Force sensitive with that weapon. -
Yellow.

There is a cheat for unlimited Force. You write in console "helpusobi 1" and after "bind x "+useforce;give force;" without quotes; pressing "x" recharges the amount of Force.

About blasters deflection system.
Mizore replied to Mizore's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
I do not know, that might be customizable. I use the cursor keys for movement and the keypad for Force powers, so insert, supr, home, etc., could serve this purpose. -
I considered what would be the best blasters deflection system, because none of the Jedi Knight series convinces me by the following. I do not want an automatic deflection system because I prefer the player has to do something to reject the projectiles. I do not want the deflection system is specially skill based, but that depends more on the player's skills that character's skills. But a manual system where you have to press a button to reject the projectiles also does not attract me, because you have to always press the same button and it is not challenging. My ideal deflection system would be based on quick time events. When enemies start shooting on the character, some images of keys appear on the screen and you would have to press these keys to reject the shots. Depending on where the shots come, so the keys would have to be pressed. The more shots per second threaten the character, more keys you would have to press, to the point that the fire would be overwhelming and would be covered. Upgrades would consist of reducing to a certain limit the number of keys to press when you are fired by several attackers and to return fire to its point of origin or the attackers. What do you think?

Single Player with Mulitplayer combat and movement
Mizore replied to Waco's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
It is not my feeling and I played years to SP and MP. -
Single Player with Mulitplayer combat and movement
Mizore replied to Waco's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
That is not true, because the SP and MP in JA are too similar for one to be horrible and the other not. I prefer SP movement and combat by the reason that I prefer to explore and fight through a story and not pointless fighting. -
Perhaps you refer to the Melee Mod, but I do not care the look of the weapon, but if you throw the disc, the camera follows it in slow motion and you can change its trajectory.
-
What do you mean? That could be discussed constructively ...
-
One idea I had years ago is to implement the glaive from Dark Sector in Jedi Academy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUCpTgq9oao This lightsaber from the mod Escape of Yavin IV can be used as model. It is only necessary a secondary fire that makes the camera follow the disc thrown in slow motion and that can change its trajectory.

This mod is very promising and also Jedi Academy mods that are not based on Star Wars are rare. Two questions: are you going to keep the HUD as Diablo game? I do not like the HUD-like spheres, since the bars are best used space to indicate health, shield and Force points. And you will add some new non-offensive power, as dash? Moving from one place to another in less than a blink always liked me.

I agree with you that the lightsiders would be most disturbed by the death of their friends that darksiders, because the lightsiders accept natural death as part of life but not the intentional death, while darksiders have no friends really; however, I think trained force users are psychologically shielded to resist the emotional damage of the casualties on their sides, something like a passive power, as they are shielded against some psychokinetic attacks, so that is not in games.
