  1. So, ideas I'm thinking for possible maps in the future. Note that for now, they're adhering to the 'one or two rooms' rule. They're also all based on locations seen in the Clone Wars TV show: 1. Fulfilling my own request thread and making the Hutt Grand Council Chamber. 2. Trying my hand at an external location and making the rooftop plaza of the Jedi Temple. 3. Using existing Imperial and Death Star assets to make the Republic military tribunal courtroom. . A location like Dagobah would be cool, but would involve a lot of advanced brushwork and custom assets that I don't think I could do justice during these early days of mapping. But who knows? Never say never.
  2. Have to admit, I wasn't planning on doing all 10,000 members of the Senate... I am keen to figure out how to create Sly Moore and Orn Free Taa though. I have some ideas...
  3. Something new to show off today, folks. Over the past couple of days I've decided to take my first foray into the world of mapping. Eek! My first project is a single-room map (albeit a sizeable one) that is based on a very specific design required for a future issue of my Tales From The Clone Wars comic: Bonus points to whoever can read Aurebesh. At the moment I'm tinkering with the lighting - I want to make it a little more imbalanced with the area that the cameras are pointing at hogging most of the limelight (literally) whilst the map gets progressively more shadowy towards the back of the room. Then I'm going to increase the clutter scattered around the studio. It's very important to note that - as the map is designed to be used in the comic - I have used resources and textures from a wide variety of sources including (but not limited to) textures by @JCulley3D and @@MaceMadunusus . As such, the map will not be released in its current state unless I a) Acquire permission from said mappers or b) Change the textures. However I wanted to show off these WIP shots as an encouragement to the ever-growing ranks of Blender users on the Hub forums. As someone who had never used 3D modeling or mapping software before learning Blender for JKA, I found a lot of the skills to using GTK Radiant (the JKA mapping tool) to be transferable and learning the basic skillset behind mapping was an absolute doddle thanks to MUG's mapping tutorials on the JKHub Youtube channel (here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6R5UNdF9Ig ) . In short, if any of you are considering diving into mapping I heartily recommend it. Next, I hope to start work on other maps from the GFFA - I'm open to ideas, suggestions and requests with the usual terms and conditions (i.e. no guarantee I will take up the request). At the moment I'm limiting myself to maps/locales that can be contained in just one or two rooms (so duel maps, basically) but if you think you have an interesting idea do let me know.

  5. Awesome! How did you find it overall? Favourite volume so far?
  6. Saesee Tiin, right? I remember this guy throwing up this error regardless of any edits. If I remember correctly, the following should fix it: 1. Select 'head_horns' and enter Edit Mode. 2. Enter Face Select. Select all with A. 3. Press H to hide all the selected faces. 4. Go to Vertex Select. Select all with A. 5. Despite hiding the faces, there should be a few loose vertices left that will now highlight. You can safely delete these junk vertices. 6. Enter Object Mode. The hidden faces will show again. 7. Export should work.
  7. First map is coming along nicely - will feature in a future issue of Tales From The Clone Wars once it is finished.

      I like maps.

      Like maps very much yes.

  8. Kit Fisto is not my work, apart from some minor texture work. I believe @@Ruxith is working on one though. And Mace Windu still needs some work to run properly in-game.
  9. That Old Ben looks particularly impressive.
  10. Well I managed to make my first room thanks to MUG's video tutorial series on the JKHub YouTube channel. Hope to learn more tomorrow.

It's surprisingly easy to create a basic map with a smattering of objects/brushes!

Hoping to use it to create more bespoke locations for Tales From The Clone Wars.

make sure to check out Rich Diesal's mapping site as well. He had some great and simple tutorials.

  11. Thinking of learning mapping - mappers of JKHub, which would you say are the best tutorials for a total n00b?

  12. I'd be interested to see your version too - do you have a screenshot?
  13. Ended up adding a couple more highly-requested characters to the senators pack and dressing it up with NPC files and shaders to allow for a full release rather than a dropbox link. This is a pack containing a multitude of Galactic Senators from the prequel trilogy and the Clone Wars TV series. A large number of different species and characters are represented in this pack, which is designed mainly for use on RP servers and in JKA machinima. To install, just place the zzzzzGalacticSenators.pk3 in your GameDate/Base/ directory. Bot support is not included, but NPCs can be spawned in singleplayer with the following commands (all NPCs are allied): npc spawn bailorgana npc spawn masamedda npc spawn senatororgana npc spawn senatormothma npc spawn senatoraang npc spawn senatorask npc spawn senatorchuchi npc spawn senatorconcorkill npc spawn senatorblount npc spawn senatorburtoni npc spawn senatorsaam npc spawn senatortikkes npc spawn senatortills npc spawn senatorithorian
  15. Well, message received I guess, heh. Who knew senators could be so popular? I'll try to find some time later today or tomorrow to tidy the models up. They're a bit of an organisational mess at the moment with .skin files and what-not.
  16. Okay, I just got the exact same thing just going to the main Comics page. The fact that it's only happening now and I've never seen it before suggests to me it's a temporary thing - probably just some behind the scenes maintenance by the Webs guys.
  17. Hm, first I've heard of it but I can have a look into it for you. Could you give me an example or two of which pages were giving you trouble?
  18. This guy's going to turn out beautifully, great job as always.
  19. In other news, @@Fire Phoenix , I checked out your YouTube channel and thought your JKA recreation of Episode 1 was pretty neat. Are you planning on continuing it?

  21. If you want to 'rebuild' KOTF and correct all its past flaws, I wish you good luck - I just think you'll be fighting an uphill battle from the start. Maybe consider renaming it to help distinguish your new project from the bad connotations of the original? I think I saw someone suggesting 'Masters of the Force' as an alternative title - something like that, which both alludes to the link to the original but also makes it clear that this is a new project.
  22. Nope. Same source as Mas Amedda and Bossk.
  23. The kid ain't no senator. Haven't got much interest in doing film characters in the Clone Wars' art style for JKA, I'm afraid. Plo Koon and Cad Bane are exceptions, but anyone with a more 'human' face looks too out of place IMO.
  24. So unlikely to gain much traction here on the Hub, I'm afraid.
  25. The weights on the tendrils are more precise in the new WIP, yes. Been throwing together various models for the next issue of Tales From The Clone Wars: I don't know if anyone would get a use out of these (RP servers, maybe?) but if there's enough demand I could possibly tidy them up and make a pack release for them.
