  1. The longest time it's been down for was one week (and like half of JKA died), so if it were two days I'd consider it short... So far from what I've observed it seems to happen most on weekends. I'm curious as to what goes on behind this, but I don't think I'd ever find out.
  2. This is the second time within the span of one month, the last downtime was Aug 29 2013!!!!
  3. I'm hoping lol... It's for a basejka server, don't want mods of any kind.
  4. Yes well, I've been forced to run Linux >.< I need Linux server fixes, which I can't download or not capable of understanding how to make them from Luigi. I've only been able to get the rcon half a second limit disabler. Would be good if someone made a bunch or uploaded theirs to JKhub. Move thread if necessary 'cause idk if here is the right place to post.
  5. I had that frustrating problem on my laptop running Win8 and having to run the exe as admin everytime I wanted to play, but once I moved it off C drive and renamed the folder I never got that again. Not sure if it's applicable to you though.
  6. (This'll be the last time I OT in this thread xD) I had some login issues with my account in the MM forum and in order to contact Scooper I'd have to make a new account which requires email activation I believe, and something had conked up their auto-emailing system. In the end I had to stalk the MM servers and find someone to help me PM him.
  7. So is the server problem solved yet? I almost tried Multiplay except I couldn't get across to them what I wanted. Now that I know there's no privacy regarding customer content I'm never going to be one of theirs. A friend of mine once used a real crappy pc (1.6ghz, 1GB RAM) to host a dedicated JKA server. 16 slots, and he said it used a minimum of 700 MHz, 'a few hundred' mbs of RAM. The only thing was that he's a programmer and tweaked Windows to using very little resource. We later ran Makermod on it too without any problem. @@Scooper btw there doesn't seem to be a way to PM or email you on the MM forum without requiring an account.
  8. 48 hours!? I'm surprised you hadn't fled. They used to have a guy on xfire all the time but he slowly vanished. You should ask for extra game server time. He also knows nothing about troubleshooting JKA servers lol. A reinstall should (if not will) fix it. At least you have an active server instead of wasting your money. Scooper doesn't get on the MM forum much. Too bad I don't run Lugor or I'd help you with your Markmods server. See if anyone else can help you here, or I could get the Lugor files and have a look. If you have some experience running a Lugor server locally and it works fine, you can upload the whole pile to Markmods in a ZIPPED second folder ''jediacademy2'', put in a ticket to have them delete the first folder and rename yours to ''jediacademy''. Just make sure the stuff looks the same ie base and the exes inside GameData. That's how I got mine to work, was a damn lot of trouble but once it's stable it's smooth.
  9. Markmods support used to be much much better. I have a server with them almost a year now and as long as you know how to deal with your own server problems it's decent. No extreme/long lag nor downtime for me. Tried Lowpinggameservers? Or how about Nuclear Fallout? Hypernia is another option but they are shitty about not letting you upload/delete your own DLLs and exes. Also if they get DDOS'ed they just tell you there's downtime and it could last ages... Yea you can get a decent Windows VPS for $15 minimum. I've seen cheaper ones but they tend to be laggy like crap. Be sure your provider has nothing against game hosting in their TOS.
  10. Try using the makermod client plugin, it should show you a list of makermod servers, not including invisible ones.
  11. http://jkhub.org/files/file/391-jedi-academy-dedicated-server-for-win32/ In case you're one of those who can't access jk3files...You'll also need to open a server port on your router/firewall. If your solo game is crashing its usually due to too much crap (mods etc) in your base.
  12. YAAAAAAAAA! Just what I've been needing for ages. Thank you for your effort!
  13. Magnavolge died. Idk if Linux runs makermod. I admire ts for thinking of renting a server for a mod that few people play.
  14. Makermod uses slightly more resources - when people start placing millions of trees - so yup a vps might not be ideal unless it's a decent one. I wouldn't recommend AoW, too much bad reviews on em.
  15. I'm part of an international clan and therefore we have EU and USA and Asian servers. I'm from Asia so I get 350 to a EU server. But the people complaining about blocks and ghosts are mainly Europeans in the EU servers. The current EU servers I have are from reputable game server hosts. Custom sabers from clients don't work even if you have sv_pure 0. Unless the saber is in the server itself, which there are none in my servers. Yup I do restarts before game server time hits 6000 minutes. Actual server gets restarted every 3 days. Anyway I'm just gonna go back to ignoring the complaints. After all I have the reaffirmations from coders here that it's mainly clients themselves. Personally I think people ought to play more on higher ping servers...then perhaps they would moan about ghosting less.
  16. Here you go. http://jediknight3.filefront.com/file/SystemA;86655 Might not work if you have other mods.
  17. Speaking of blocks, I've been told that my servers are extra blocky too. Personally, I can't tell with my 350 ping :x
  18. Funny how the complaints come from people who played on a Linux server THEN my Windows server. No difference except saber damage in the Linux server is reduced... I'll raise the sv_fps to 30 and see what goes. The only other thing I can think of is that there's misc bsps in the map itself which drops fps for those with crappier pcs. But I have the same complaints from a similar server that has no misc bsps.
  19. Bump...in case anyone has found the 'truth'...
  20. Hmm ok. Guess we still have to wait D: In the meanwhile, what are the dangers of using the source code?
  21. There is a well-known Star Wars costuming group that had been doing their thing - idk walking around in costumes, attending official Lucasfilm events - before Disney's takeover. A little while after the takeover they received a message to stop doing that for certain events as it hadn't been approved by Disney. No one knows why except that Disney didn't get paid by the group for rights to do so. I don't know if you see the relation between that incident and the source code being retracted. Maybe before its destruction LucasArts allowed it. But then later Disney realises it and decides that they could possibly squeeze some $ out of it or whatever and says withdraw it. If you think I'm making no sense or it's too far-fetched by all means you can ignore this
  22. Disney is known to be an ass. I would say that they were the ones behind it.
  23. I have no clue. It had a popup somewhere that looked authentic and exactly like the download page. Turned out to be some sorta ilivid.exe shit. After I manually removed the registry entries and related stuff things went back to normal.
  24. Maybe bro but seriously I don't know which one to reply to anymore.
  25. There's gotta be three and its hard to reply to all without copy pasting and ideas are scattered all over the place. Could a mod please put them all in one thread if possible, without messing up discussion as far as possible? I gots a request for what I'd like to see now that the source is out, but I don't know where to put it without diluting other threads. Maybe someone can start a thread on it...I'd do one but I would wait til things are less messy.
