I can't say, I was too keen on Rebels, at least not like in the beginning. The introduction of various cool characters, like Thrawn or Mon Mothma didn't save the story too much. Perhaps, that's because I pay attention both to the story and the visual side, the latter was lacking some depth. E.g. you see Lando, but the surrounding stuff isn't that cool, including the pig, that he wanted to acquire. The latest episodes with the Lothal Temple were quite captivating though. Perhaps, because they made a new character, which wasn't powerful, but yet hold some intrigue - the Minister. We can also see old 'friends' from TCW, which was good. But the thing with Time Travel - and I am positive that's what've seen in the episode - wasn't a very good sign.

Some say, it's not fake, but rather not official. The difference? Well, the picture is made from official pictures, but the whole composition wasn't posted officially anywhere... So the characters in the picture are probably the real ones from the actual film. Meanwhile, there've already been a few minor leaks about the film, including a few shots from the sets, names of the characters, a Lego minifigure, as well as a description for the upcoming trailer. What's interesting: the film is to premiere in May 2018, not December. Which means almost 5 months to go!

Hi! Thanks for the offer, I'll keep that in mind. You might want to contact lang_french, who is responsible for the translation of most mods here, on JKHub. He also wanted to make an addon with voices for the mod, but I want to polish all things in the Chapter first. As for the progress - I'm waiting for the colleagues to finalize the testing of all the maps for the first part. Some are quite tricky, and there were a few really bad instances, regarding JA engine, which we managed to fix. But not all of them just yet. Interesting, that I upgraded machines, but for reasons unknown we have to split the map building between members of the team, due to a strange stuff, that I can't open some maps, saved by a friend of mine, on any of my PCs. They run just fine, when playing in JA, but opening them in GTK Radiant sometimes causes errors. So I had to switch to other maps, for other chapters, as well as models and texturing. Due to big deals at work, I am not that active regarding posting news, but we work on DP when we have time. Sorry for not being too informative on this matter.

I consider Rogue One to be a war drama, which includes both spies and field agents, among many others, for instance like an informant. Everyone has to play their role, be it a rookie, a general, a hero, or a dictator pulling the strings of the war machine. Rogue One fortunately had all of these things, combined in quite a clever manner. Also the film respected greatly both the OT and the prequels, taking into accunt their traditions, styles and events.

I am absolutely against Snoke=Plaguies story, because it would destroy the Original Trilogy completely. That would mean, that Darth Vader doesn't matter per se, as well as Palpatine is of no importance. Yes, Snoke deserved some explanation in the new film, but yet it wouldn't be good, if he compromized other characters, both known ones and offscreen mysterious figures.

Can mental patient(psycho) use the Force? How? Why?
NumberWan replied to syainkn's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
Years ago, there was an article about the Clone Wars, which I once mentioned here on the forums, which said, that the cloning process was with drawbacks, Every clone would go insane one day. The old concept of TCW suggested, that the Cloners were the enemies of the Jedi and the Republic, and that some used the technology to clone the Jedi. These would turn to the Dark Side upon becoming insane. But all this was before Episode II was released, which cleared the whole case with Clones. The only other closest concept could be Jorak Uln, a Sith master, former headmaster of the Academy on Korriban, which was considered to be crazy, spending too much time in the tombs of Korriban after his exile (KOTOR). And don't forget about Kazdan Paratus, a Jedi Master, who was driven insane after Order 66, who lived on Raxus (The Force Unleashed). -
The Last Jedi ( maybe spoiler)
NumberWan replied to GPChannel's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
I would say, that of all people I watched the new episode with, I was perhaps the only one to enjoy the film in one way or another. There were very strong sides, which I enjoyed, and those include the designs, some effects, both CGI and animatronics, as well as plot moves and ideas. I would also add, that certain characters showed their potential at last, unlike in The Force Awakens. Some people say, that the new guys in the film were absolutely unnecessary, but I wouldn't agree here, because, well, we could say the same about Mon Mothma for instance, but she became iconic, even though she has only a few lines in one episode. There were bad ones too, and a lot! What I like about TLJ - is that it's not a copy of EPISODE V. And for that I want to thank Rian Johnson and his team. If being a bit more detailed, I will hide the spoiler-sensitive ideas below What I liked in The Last Jedi I did not like this: I feel puzzled by: If you've already watched The Last Jedi, feel free to watch this little 'trailer' -
Fixing the Forest map right now. Other things seem to work fine, but I polish a few details in the Imperial levels. The first maps are complete and are in no need of revision by us (hopefully). There are some aspects in JA, which can be fixed via OpenJK, so I am thinking of adding it to the mod, after getting a permission.
-
Thanks. ) My only concern is probably the swimming animation, it's really ugly in JA. Yes, the game isn't actually about going underwater, but still.
-
There are, but they are non-combat. The original animations are untouched.

Actually there is. While the word "Hell" might have come to Star Wars the same way several others made their way into a Galaxy far, far away (e.g. C-3PO uses a line "Die Jedi dogs!" in Episode II), some aspects have an alternative meaning or name. I guess, in case of Han Solo it was a mere expression (interestingly SW has their own insulting phrases like Rebel scum and Sith Spit, as well as Bantha Fodder). However it is true, that various peoples in Star Wars had their own religious concepts, thus the concepts of hell and paradize can exist there too. After KOTOR II was released, Malachor V was the closest thing to a hell, as see by the SW people. It was never treated that way though untill The Clone Wars episode, where colonel Gascon uses an expression, when angered during his mission. In some commentary to the episode, it was (then) stated, that the destruction of Malachor V during the Jedi Civil War was sort of a known legend, which connected the planet's name to the concept of hell. When Episode I came out back in 1999, I felt puzzled, that Anakin Skywalker was familiar with the concept of an angel. It was further developed in The Clone Wars as well.

Some of you might have already seen, that we are testing the maps right now. The process takes longer than we expected, but I'll post any new information here. I must say, that we had to split one very large (and intense) map into two, because JA won't process it correctly. For now, Chapter I would include maps from this locations: We also changed the main and other menus of the game. During our work, we learnt, that some of the aspects are encoded within JA and cannot be changed, yet we found a comrpomise.

Star Wars Episode VIII Discussion
NumberWan replied to NumberWan's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
The new trailer is far better than wahat was shown 5 months ago. It also brings in a few plot questions already (the most obvious being Rey's affiliation in the future, already discussed everywhere). Not sture what exactly drives more of my attention here, be it the words of Luke, certain scenes from flashbacks or Kylo's strange struggle against his past (with destroying his mask?) They left out the candy planet of Canto Bight, as well as the two new characters (fair enough), but aside from the new AT-M6 walkers you can clearly see the original AT-ATs, as well as modified AT-STs, as seen in one of the scenes. Aside from the trailer, Mark Hamill said, that Episode VIII won't be the last for Leia. I wonder what that would mean, given, that she might be killed or badly injured in The Last Jedi. -
GtkRadiant 1.6.4 on Windows 10 Tech Preview

Already installed, this changes nothing. I found a different, much simpler solution – use Radiant 1.6.2, and not the later ones, at least for now. -
GtkRadiant 1.6.4 on Windows 10 Tech Preview
NumberWan replied to Kessno's topic in Jedi Knight Tech Support
I used Radiant 1.4. and 1.6. for may years, but both worked just fine with Win7. Currently I also installed both versions on Win10, but both have problems here: 1.4. has all the textures whitened, a common issue often mentioned here and there it seems. I would still prefer to use 1.6. (and not 1.5.), however it won't start on Windows 10 due to some files missing, as it claims, missing VCRUNTIME140.dll, as well as MSVCP140.dll. When I used the editors on Windows 7 for the first time, something similar occured as well, but I still managed to resolve those. Currently looking into this matter, but perhaps someone is already using GTK Radiant on Win10 and succeeded in solving these issues? -
Summer is a nice time to travel, enjoy sunny weather, etc, etc. For me this season was a bit different, but still I worked on the maps for Chapter I. While it was mostly about fixing the textures or shaders, maybe some scripts, polishing locations, we found another bunch of bugs, coming right from the Jedi Academy. Currently we managed to fix most of them. This is just a reminder, that during the warm season we didn't disappear. We continued working on DP, both on the main aspects, as well as other things in the mod. I'll post more about this in a few days.

Star Wars Episode VIII Discussion
NumberWan replied to NumberWan's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
There are shots from this video. Most interestinf of them here: Link to images Some are quite fun and amusing. And look familiar and new at the same time (I would say, that they put much effort into this, and in some ways it's close to Episode II visually). -
I remember trying restoring the visor, and it seems, the developers removed it, as they weren't satisfied with collision of shaders (glass visor + cloaking effect), which spoiled the sudden appearance of the Saboteurs in the game. The other reason (though unlikely) is that a glass mesh wasn't in line with the style of the characters in JA.

Luke's Jedi Academy (old canon)
NumberWan replied to the_raven's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
This one. It's almost the same for Coruscant in Episode VII. We see Hosnian Prime instead, which serves as a similar planet, but has a minor role, so that it could be destroyed by the authors without remorse (from fans). It was eliminated to have an impact, just like it happened with Taris in KOTOR (though in the game it had a connection with the Player, as you spend much time on the planet, meeting new people, making friends, etc). In general, yes, I were referring the Old Canon. -
Luke's Jedi Academy (old canon)
NumberWan replied to the_raven's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
Currently, there is no direct and confirmed info, that Luke established his academy on Yavin IV (in New Canon). But when playing JO I also thought, it was strange to create an Academy there, on Yavin IV, The fall of Desann in JO also indicates it wasn't a very good idea. In comics many more dark stories took place there after Battle of Endor. Not Coruscant – well, maybe because the Temple there wasn't just a ruin, but a structure uglified by the Emperor and the Dark Side, which would always remind, how the last Jedi failed and were destroyed by the Empire (as seen in The Force Unleashed). Yavin IV on the other hand had a dark aura from a long past, not directly connected to Vader and Luke's dark past. In new Canon the Jedi Temple is a former Emperor's palace, so it no longer can serve as a traditional Jedi temple, but rather as an archive and a place of search for various Imperial secrets. (However the other reason could be, that there wasn't too much information on Coruscant in 1990s, when the first ideas about the new Jedi Academy flourished). Not Dantooine – seemed to be a much better place for an academy. I can't name any reasons from within Star Wars universe, why there is no academy there... But the reasons are probably the same as for Coruscant, almost nothing known about this location in 1990s. Also, the planets those years looked quite simple and alike, so Dantooine didn't have any specific traits to be interesting for the appearance of the planet with Jedi Academy. A distinctive look for various worlds became possible with video games and TV series, which happened much later. Unfortunately the new canon only makes a Rebel base true. There were other planets, which could serve as HQ for the new Jedi. Currently, we have Ilum, Ossus, Tython, as well Dagobah (quite dark) and Endor (not that bad, no direct Force affiliation). In general, the concept wasn't thought through enough, I think (just like with Clone Wars, which until Episode II, was shown as a conflict between the Cloners and other parties, which some links to the Republic). Ralph McQuarrie made a concept with the Temple and Rebels seeing something terrible in there. But perhaps in general, it was believed, that the ruins are just "some old temples", used now by the Rebels. No indication on Sith at the time. Later on the nature of the Massassi became more detailed, revealing all the stuff with the Dark Side, which in turn was justified as a way for the new Jedi always feel the temptation of the evil, but learn to resist it. The new Canon stories reveal, that some people even made home on Yavin IV. -
Very difficult to answer. ) I have official soundtrack on CDs for Episode I and II, but they don't include all of the tracks. The Original Trilogy has their perfect motives, which I absolutely admire as remixes in Dark Forces II, where they sound differently (being recomposed), but keep the general atmosphere of the Galactic Empire within the game and the timeline. Episode I was probably the first film, which captivated me with music and introduced John Williams for me (with all of his wonderful scores for very different films). While playing TPM video game, I fell in love with very motives from Episode I, however the game had several tracks, which weren't in the official album. And Duel of the Fates is indeed memorable. Episode VII wasn't that generous in soundtrack, but still introduced Rey's theme, which is one of my favourites now. For Rogue One Michael Giacchino scored the music, a composer, which I better know for his terrific music for Lost TV series.

@Noodle In previous Battlefront the story of 501st was the only Canon aspect of the game, while Galactic Conquest, Instant action and other submissions were for gameplay purpose only.

Well, Rey and Maul were in this demonstration – also because of their current status within the franchise: it's not big secret, that both these two characters are among the most favourite ones with fans. Darth Maul got major role throughout the years and they sell toys with him up to these days, while Rey is a new major heroine, which was a big problem for female fans in the past. Now there is Rey, a strong female lead in Star Wars, which promotes the franchise perfectly (along with Maul, as well as Boba Fett, Han Solo, Vader). As for Canon – well, Battlefront I and II (old) were quite close to Canon in terms of gameplay. The first one didn't have any plot per se, but they showed the notable battles from the movies. It was still possible to play as Rebels and attack Felucia In BII, or play as Boba Fett in the Jedi Temple (something like that). I just feel, that it would be great to have a genuine event placement in the gameplay, while you can choose and play a mix of Kylo Ren vs Obi Wan Kenobi + First Order against the Trade Federation, etc, etc. As for the Droids, I've noticed a few new units in the gameplay. Also, it seems they sound a lot like the droids in The Clone Wars era, the same actor perhaps. In Episode I they were slightly different in manners, less emotional, I think. As seen in the trailer, aside from Naboo we'll see Yavin IV, Tatooine, Takodana, Starkiller base, Hoth, Endor, Kamino and a few other locations (maybe even Tantive IV?).

A friend of mine believed it was Snoke in one of the scenes, but we've already discussed the matter, that it's just a Droid with Palpatine's holoface. I wasn't aware of this character at first. I also like the level of details in Battlefront, which was already a trademark in the previous game by Dice (Bespin is absolutely beautiful). Now with Theed they did a wonderful job of recreating the hallways, marble columns, stairs, royal chairs and tables, furniture and even tapestries and lights. I wonder if they travelled to Italy in order to capture the feel of Naboo (this was done in case of Endor and Sullust, when they travelled to the US and Iceland respectively). Theed is one of my favourite locations, and even though it was featured in dozens of stories (including the previous battlefronts, TPM video game, etc), this is the first time, when we have such an accurate version of it (well, except for the spaceport, which was built much later in Theed). Not sure if I like the idea of Darth Maul leading the Droid forces against the Clones on Naboo... I would prefer Maul and TF against the Royal Security forces of Naboo, like it was in the films. Then again, if the droids and clones do fight in Theed, then it would be better to see the Droid Commander from TCW or CIS leaders fighting off the Republic forces. Update: It seems there is a lot more about this Theed map – they actually made the whole city just like it looks in the Database (the position of streets, number of twers, buildings, etc). Moreover, the city isn't empty – it's full of neutral citizens, which run through the streets during the battle, screaming. You can see this here:
