[WIP] Dark Forces mod remaster project
Lancelot replied to undeadslayer's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
They won't. The fear of Disney or Lucasfilm shutting down fan-made projects is something that used to be a thing many years ago. I remember how everyone was panicking, but that settled down fairly quickly. There are a lot of similar projects that could've been shut down, but they are still up and running. For example, somebody is working on a fan-film of Knights of the Old Republic using the Unreal Engine. To be on the safe side, the creator contacted Lucasfilm, and they gave their approval, but under certain conditions. The creator was not allowed to make money with the project or use their licensed content. In other words, so long as the work is clearly identifiable as fan-art and you don't attempt to make a profit of this mod, there's nothing to worry about. -
The funny thing is that those kind of ships were a thing in the EU continuity. The type of ships were called Ugly, or Uglies, and the concept and the term found their way into the canon. Jeff's creation is based on a ship from the EU. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Ugly https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Ugly/Legends

@Viking-Ozy I've moved the topic to the mod request section. And I've also added a picture of Tyth in your post, so everyone knows who you mean.

Your file has been approved. Sorry that you had to wait. Also, I've renamed this topic for you, so you can add your own WIP content in here. Welcome to JKHub!

I'm not into the High Republic stuff yet, but I've seen the many memes about the character. First I thought it was a joke, but now I've seen that it is a sentient species! And to be honest, I'm not even mad about it. Why should I? I actually find it both hilarious and fascinating, because it shows that a species in the Star Wars universe doesn't necessarily have to be a humanoid, or made of flesh and bones. Kinda reminds me of Monol from the Monster Rancher anime.

Many countries in the world are currently in the middle of season called WINTER (which is just like Hoth, but without Imperial probe droids). That season is, for the most part, connected with cold temperatures, snow and CHRISTMAS, which is an annual fest to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ (he's turning 2022 this year. How crazy is that?). And because we want to be among the cool ones (no pun intended!) who have decorated for Christmas, we have done so as well.

Those "circles" are representing snow, because it's Holiday season. You can easily change the theme of the website. Just scroll down at the very bottom of this site, and you will find the word "Theme". Click on that and choose the one theme you prefer.

This model looks so good that it actually deserves a place in our file section. You should definitely submit it there, and maybe some of the other models you've finished. That way, others have easier access to your creations. We have relaxed our submission guidelines, which means that we are now allowing ported content (so long as you give credit to the original sources). And of course, if your models contain materials made by other authors, make sure to obtain their permission and credit them as well.

Andor - a Star Wars series on Disney+
Lancelot replied to Circa's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
For years, Star Wars has constantly moved within a certain "comfort zone". Especially the prequel era was incorporated into everything, so much that many fans got used to it and only expected to see just that. But as soon as an attempt was made to break out of it and create something new, it was quickly beaten down by fans and critics, not rarely for trivial reasons. That's why I find it remarkable that ANDOR was overwhelmingly well received, despite being vastly different from what we have already gotten. It even made the most critical fans give it a try, and I do hope that it will attract even more fans. -

Now that the season finale has been released, here are my thoughts. Nothing has changed much since my previous post, but there are still some things I wanted to say. -
Mod Request: GOH Mara Jade for SP and MP
Lancelot replied to Starwalker1192's topic in Mod Requests & Suggestions
The cape on Omega's model can be easily removed by modifying the .SKIN file. All you need to do is opening it and replace cape,models/players/marajade/cape.jpg with cape,models/players/marajade/*off. That will deactivate the texture. As for the SP support, that is easy. Just open the console, then type playermodel marajade. It's not a perfect solution, but still quicker than having to port another model. -

@Lord Xizer I've merged the other topic you've made with this one. If you have any more updates that are relevant to this project, please post them here. I must say that I'm really impressed with the results so far. The details are amazing.

Version 3.1
139 downloads
This reskin is based on the prisoners of Narkina 5 from the Disney+ series ANDOR. Notes: Thanks to the help of @Torki, the orange stripe is now only visible on the left leg instead of both legs. In the show, all prisoners are barefeet. As this was not possible to add naked feet to the existing model without modifying the mesh, I decided to make the boots white as a compromise. Bot support: Standard prisoner bot NPC support: Standard prisoner NPC Sounds: Standard sounds Installation: Simply put the pk3 file in the base folder. -
Kyle Katarn from Dark Forces 2 by Aurel Wedding
Lancelot replied to Lord Xizer's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
Depends on which version you mean. Because the Kyle in the cutscenes looks vastly different than the one in the game itself. And as far as I can see, this model is closer to the Kyle in the cutscenes. Anything else is artistic freedom. He's not supposed to be 101% accurate, -
Another thing that does have potential is the uniform worn by the Imperials on Aldhani. It's a combination of the outfit and the armor worn by Imperial officers. There is even an action figure of Cassian with the uniform. Could be used as a good reference. Speaking of action figures, there is also one for Vel Sartha. She has become one of my favourite characters of the show (especially since the episode "The Eye"), and I would love to see a model of her being made one day.

@ForceAdeptBeing had the following question In other words, he's asking for these characters: Son Father Daughter

Andor - a Star Wars series on Disney+
Lancelot replied to Circa's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
Okay, now that I've watched the first four episodes, here are my impressions so far: -
Those three episode have provided so much content to choose from. Cassian's blaster could indeed be the Bryar pistol. In that case, we've already got one, as AshuraDX made one in 2017. And of course there's the Jedi Outcast version. As Ashura's design is very much like the one from Andor, we could tick that one off the list. The mining guard uniform also looks very interesting. A great thing about it is that the colours are bright, which offers a great reference for modelers.

PierceDoughty's Porting and Model Requests
Lancelot replied to PierceDoughty's topic in Mod Requests & Suggestions
Okay, @PierceDoughty. This is your very own request topic. Use it for all your porting requests, but keep in mind that not all of them can be fulfilled. Because modders are people, too. I've also edited your previous post to include the download link for the Max model. -

@Willemoes What you're doing with your models is outstanding. Each original character not only comes with a different design, but also with a different background based on your own world and concepts. Your designs are very reminicent to the Yuuzhan Vong and the works of H.R. Giger (who created the concepts for the ALIEN films) and Rob Bottin (who created the creatures for THE THING, LEGEND and TOTAL RECALL).

What 3D modeling application do you use for JKO/JKA?
Lancelot replied to Circa's topic in Latest Poll
Ah, I see. Well, I used to start modeling with SketchUp (or "Google SketchUp" as it was called back then). In fact, I made Rey's staff and the TARDIS with SketchUp years ago, with the intention to convert the models in Blender. First I thought that I could model whatever I wanted and just get it in the game. But as I lacked the knowledge required to properly convert high poly models to make them work for Jedi Academy, I gave up on those projects. Today, I'm still using it for completely personal projects. Many would call SketchUp a waste of time, or cry about the very thought that it isn't as advanced as all the other 3D modeling softwares. But so long as it's available, I will use it. Because out of all the 3D softwares I tried, SketchUp is still the easiest for me to use. And if I want the models to look better, I'm using Blender to polish them up.
