Sounds cool. If there's a temple map then it shouldn't feel empty.
-
I think option two would be the coolest. But tbh, I think it would be more fun if you could choose which next mission you want to do next. Otherwise it might feel awkward for the player if you have to run through the temple without even having a choice where to go.
If it's completely linear, then going to the ship (option three) would be better I guess.
It could also be half-linear. We could make most missions non-linear and at some point you have the choice to do more missions or to continue with the story.

Expanded sounds nice

The concept that therfiles and me had in mind back then was actually an approach with more instead of less 'role-playing'. Means you have people like Kyle or Luke who give you the next mission when you talk with them. Therfiles made a dialogue-script which could be used for that. Eezstreet had the idea to allow upgrades for weapons in the temple. There was also the idea that you actually have to learn the new force powers ingame (like the force training mission in jk2).
But I can see why it would be a good idea to make the game more linear.
The question is: Do you really need a temple map if the game is completely linear and if yes, how would it work?
About the map itself, I actually thought it would be a good idea to use the temple from Jedi Outcast and spice it up with the levels that are used for the cutscenes of Jedi Academy. But that's just one option.

There was this idea to have an actual academy level where you can choose the next mission instead of these menu screens. If I had time that would be the number one thing that I'd work on

I'm sick of the corrupt media nowadays only showing us what we're supposed to see, hiding the truth from the masses. Lies everywhere, indoctrinated by the government. Where is the feature about JoC? heh?

Dunno if anyone has pointed that out before, but there is a project called "Jedi Knight: Enhanced" on jkhub.net. So not only have we stolen their jkhub, now we also steal their JK:E.
On a serious note tho: It would probably be good to release this only as JKA:E or JKO:E to avoid confusion.
Also OJP is known as JK:Enhanced as well iirc.

Movie Duels not Movie Battles. Also do people really play Kotf in multiplayer? And if yes, how is it different to play on a ja+ server with custom maps and custom models?

Isn't Movie Duels pretty much what Kotf is supposed to be?

Woah, if the assumption that 64 units = 1.80 m, that makes maps potentially 29 km wide.
But you'll hit the game's limits on basejka anyway. And even if you can run it, it doesn't mean that you'll get decent fps

Such a good idea

Not sure if anyone has posted this here already.

It's always cool to see people from the scene playing this game on camera. Didn't happen really often since Jedi Outcast ESL Pro series in 2002

I think the new sky is even better looking

Can you do something similar for the vehicle hud?

Yes, you can download the rcon password from the server. But that should be fixed on most mods. Similar reason why voting is disabled on many servers.

Looks great

Add a filter that automatically darkens the background depending on the time 8)

I like it. What I don't like is that only 50% of the screen is used for text, the rest is background. And the logo doesn't really fit anymore visually

I think the vjun skybox is quite nice.
An example for a really good skybox is the one made by sjc for his coruscant maps btw.

Yea that's what my common sense says too. It's just that they come with the Radiant which is licensed under GPL afaik
Anyway, thanks for the help

That is not true, because the SP and MP in JA are too similar for one to be horrible and the other not. I prefer SP movement and combat by the reason that I prefer to explore and fight through a story and not pointless fighting.
SP feels completely different to MP. When you played long enough it seems like day and night.

There are sample maps (.map files) for most games that are supported by GTKRadiant. Does anyone know the license for them, aka what I'm allowed to do with them?

Lol completely unreleated but I was just (20 min ago) searching for a way to convert source engine maps to q3 and didn't find a tutorial. Thanks

Random map generator
in Art, Media & Technology
Posted
Recently I had some time to kill, so I started working on a tool that generates random .map files.
So far it asks for a mapsize, ambientlightscale, type of brushes and the mapname.
Based on the mapsize it correctly places spawnpoints and lightentities. Since I had Racing in Quake Live in mind when doing this it also places race start- and endpoints.
At the moment it only fills the room with random brushes (either flat platforms or pillars) but I plan to add more complex stuff.
Todo:
Generate maps that are actually fun to play
Ask the player for textures, color of lightentities, game (quake live, jedi academy etc), etc
Gui (maybe)
Generate bsps (probably not)
Some screenshots.
If you got some ideas please let me now
Edit: This is also my 1000. post
