  1. Ah, that's right! Though that one is even harder to access because you can't just noclip out to it like on the doomgiver. Edit: I went into the map file and it is not the same tunnel. It's a more ethereal sort of effect that's flat rather than a 3D structure.
  2. Anyone remember the hyperspace tunnel outside the Doomgiver in Jedi Outcast? Are there any ways to get a hyperspace tunnel that works in a similar way, but appears closer to the actual Hyperspace effect used in the movies? Or I suppose an alternative would be the same tunnel from Jedi Outcast in Jedi Academy, but with an invisible floor in the middle on which vehicles could be spawned? I know it's probably an idea only interesting to film makers and RPGers, but it is something that hasn't been explore much in map making. I thank you all for at least humoring the idea!
  3. I was playing around with the Jedi Outcast for Jedi Academy mod, replacing the main characters for my machinima. While I succeeded in replacing them for the cutscene where the Raven's Claw is going to Kejim, the characters were standing instead of sitting. They spoke at the appropriate times (from what I could see of their chins moving, their heads were mostly out of frame). The only thing I changed was which player model was being accessed. Does anyone have a clue on what I can tweak or adjust? The following were the conditions I used: OpenJK single player Jedi Outcast for Jedi Academy 1 custom character, 1 Jedi Human base game custom replaced in the cutscene NPC file. I also tried changing the base game npcs, but that didn't stick.
  4. Your links at least help me understand the concepts behind the conversion and how scaling works. Thank you, that was a very helpful post!
  5. The problem I have is that the model I want is in three pieces, it's a customizable Jaden from single player. The one thing that baffles me most though is that the 3d printing site I've gone to asks if the model is modeled in milimeters, centimeters, or inches. Trying for a 3-4 inch print, just converting the files I have no idea what units of measurement were used or how to approximate it for a 3D model.
  6. I've been trying to get ready for Christmas by getting things for my friends ahead of time, and a strange idea came to me. My best friend has been voicing a character in my Star Wars machinima for years, and I was wondering what it would take to convert his Jedi Academy character into a file that could be 3D printed and that I could paint... Has anyone had experience doing this sort of conversion? Does anyone know what steps could be taken, or if there is someone that could be commissioned for such work? The character is a base file Jaden (head_c1|torso_c1|lower_a1). It might be a long shot, and I probably should have thought this up earlier, but what do you all think? Is there a remote possibility?
  7. Don't let it freak you out! You're almost there!
  8. I guess it wouldn't make sense if you're building something on a planet to change the architecture for only one part of a megastructure. Sure, the internal decoration might deviate with colors and such, but you don't want it sticking out like a sore thumb. Plus, if you're approaching the texture limit like you said, it might be good to keep it in theme with the rest?
  9. Hahaha, floating chairs. Is there a hologram of a swoop over the swoop racer desk? Good optimization overall! Oh no, number 14... I asked him to release Kamino V2, even if incomplete, on youtube and he seemed shocked anyone still worked with JK3 and then didn't reply further, it was very sad.
  10. Ohhh, good to hear things are progressing! Thanks for the update!
  11. With the Mandalore throne room map floating in the ether waiting to be finished, it'd be good to have a Satine model to go with it if it drops!
  12. I'm glad to see you back on track, and your work method sounds really good! Keep it up, we can't wait to see more and have this cross the finish line!
  13. Hahaha, I loved the 8T88 skit... Just like that, his player model has always eluded me in Jedi Academy. But it's a wonderful taste of what is to come. Great atmosphere.
  14. Hahaha, I couldn't even tell it was unfinished... I'm so glad you released it! I, too, am paranoid about you leaving, but thank you for releasing some great stuff regardless! I love the atmosphere, and the touches of Midgar and Atlantica were nice call backs.
  15. Really impressive work here! The detailing and authenticity is really above and beyond! Fantastic effort, keep up the good work!
  16. Yes, but many werewolves died to bring us information on the second Death Star.
  17. Uggggggh, between this and Jedi Home 3 I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for a release, but at the same time I know the more effort that goes into it, the better it'll be! I am so happy you've introduced more Bothan models into the Jedi Academy engine, it's good to get some variety! That cooling room is intense! It's got such a great feel to it, very atmospheric!
  18. Well, this has reignited my burning desire to see several of these mods finished, lol
  19. I also would like to get an answer to this...
  20. Oh god, that's a good point. There are so many maps and files I've been following that got lost forever because of something like that...
  21. Oh dear... Well, I mean having different music for different areas is good for atmosphere, but then it's independent of the player's music volume settings. They usually get implemented as an effect noise which means you can't escape it and keep the sound effects unless you modify the pk3 to neutralize the songs... But swinging back to the positive side, at least it would make it different!
  22. Those are really enigmatic! What a nice personality to add to the map!
  23. You know, this does highlight a theoretical issue about transparent pieces on player models. I'm glad you got it worked out! If the only bugs are cloaking and seeing it from behind, it still might work for what my hopes are one day! Thanks for working on this!
  24. You really know how to make a community feel loved! That's an excellent reward for alpha testers! You're commitment to making it run well is also commendable!
  25. Oh yeah, I know that pain. It took me a while to get a good version of the first Rogue Shadow... I found one with the landing gear up, but no textures, then realized it was the same as the model with the landing gear down so copying the textures over worked fine.
