Any Interest in a DF2 Remake?

Is there much interest in capable modders (3d artists, coders, efx artists, mappers, level scripters) to remake DF2 on JKA? If there is, I'd love to help out.

Flight in JA is absolutely god aweful, would be much better suited to another engine, check out Fate of the Galaxy mod.

 

I might be interested, I love DF2. The most help you'll need is talented mappers who can recreate the levels and good texture artists. Only a small amount of coding, modeling and animation need to be done.

I just finished playing all of DF2 a few days ago for the first time. I don't quite have that nostalgia factor, but I would love to see a remake .

Yep. And seeing how the first Dark Forces mod was never completed, it seems unlikely.

I have vague memories of Dark Forces, I remember getting lost in an aquaduct like map, I might be thinking of the wrong game, lol

I bought DF for steam a while back and beat it, pretty fun, dark troopers and boba fett had your heart beating fast, intense battles.

 

The first DF mod definitely needs to be finished, there are tons of registered users on this site, people just have to want it enough to take the challenge.

Yeah, I think the first one is a start. Once that's finished, we can move on to the next. And then maybe we can recover the MotS mod assets too. (Didn't that exist awhile back?)

Yeah, DSM hasn't been on for like a year so I doubt he's contactable. I guess if I want it in JKA, I better get to work mapping.

Sign flickers on/off. The textures you see are mostly DF2Mod's recreated textures from their website with one or two Raven textures.

I hated how they started the game out with Gran throwing thermal detonators at you, IMO they can be the most annoying enemies.

It could be fun. Would this be a slightly redesigned version or just a "copy paste into JA" with higher res textures and models?

^That would be a tough decision when it comes to altering the game. Are there any areas in particular that should be improved upon other than the graphics?

 

I definitely wouldn't want to recreate the old combat system that DF2 uses, would be best to keep the saber combat as it is in base JA. The real work would be some of the unique bosses like, Gorc, Pic and Maw when it comes to models and animations.

I'd be okay with either a carbon copy or altered. Some alterations would give it a little originality.

Think of how the original dark forces was remade for jka. In DF2 there were just too many empty areas, you could spice it up a little, you know add more buildings and geometry and stuff...if that makes any sense.

My main goal is to get a path to 8T88 mapped out, then I'll add some other stuff. I'm still learning radiant though. I'll most likely need someone's help in finishing this map but I can at least do the structure, npc and player spawn lol.

Most required talent needed is level designing + scripting. I can do most everything else though.
