The Ladder (Original JK2 Level) - JA Version (1.20)

About This File

The original Ladder level by JediNight that was made for Jedi Outcast.

I take no credit for any of this idea, map, or scripts. I merely included the necessary textures and files needed from Jedi Outcast to make it compatible with JA.

The original author could not be contacted in any way, as he never included his email in anything he released. I felt this needed to be uploaded to this site and made compatible with JA.

The Ladder level is a Single Player map that features a "wave" system. After killing the first enemy, two appear. Then 3. Then 2 and a boss. So on and so on. It was made for Jedi Outcast, so it only features enemies from that game. Reborns, Shadowtroopers, Tavion, and Desann. It gets really intense if you try to do it without saving, without force powers, and especially with full dismemberment and saber realism on!

It's a great idea that keeps the boredom away and is a very underrated feature in the modding community. There needs to be more ladder maps!

This is the map that keeps me comeing back to JA! Everytime I load JA I play this map. It's also the primary map I test all my mods on.

I knew you loved it, and I didn't even know about it until you said something about in a thread. Definitely a great map! There should be more made like this. I love how simple it is.

Biggest difference between this and the JK2 version is the Reborn are much more aggressive on JK2. They stand where they spawn until you get close here, not sure if this is because the AI between the two games is different, or if you have any plans to change this, but I think it's a problem with how much easier this makes the map.

can you make an alt version of this where everything is the same except the enemies are jedis? I want to try this out with different character models but sith ones don't work.

I was wondering if it had anything to do with the agressiveness set in the *.npc files - but nope. Maybe the ladder map was scripted to specifically attack the player based on him being kyle or something else JK2 specific. Or you're right about the AI in general. It felt MUCH better in JK2 but I guess a lot of the AI part was scripted and less 'AI'. Maybe there's a way to tweak the AI range in JKA?

It's just how the games were made. AI in JKA are much less intelligent and aggressive. It's not specific to this level.

You can fix this by adding the GTKRadiant "huntkill" script to the NPCs.
