  1. Seems like quite a bit of extra geometry for little reward, but for these 2 troopers ill let it slide. Good eye on those crits, ill hit those next time I open him up
  2. So Im just going on a massive modeling spree and taking care of everything I can modeling wise. It was daunting to do a model, then have to go try and learn the different ways to texture that model, then try new anims, it was all too much at once, so now im just getting them all modeled and unwrapped. THen I will rig. Then I will model the maps until I think theyre ready for GTK Radiant, to add the final details and lighting and whatever. After its all modeled, I will start texturing. From there we will see what it looks like. Still grinding... Rant
  3. Played with modelling two of these today =) They need some cleanup and another nice look at the refs before I slap them in Zbrush, but, they look like theyre going to be sick at any rate. Disregard any colors or textures as they were just stand ins so i could tell how things were going to needed to be modeled/painted. Except for the end there where I show you a rough draft of how ill be doing the fur. Note that it was a very low res texture I think 512 so thats why it looks a bit blocky but I have learned quite a bit of different fur techniques and Ill be using the sculpts and image plane renders, as well as alpha planed hairs where needed. This guy should be fun. As for the young gorog, I was just goofing around with some zspheres today, dont expect to pick him back up again for a while since he wont be needed.

  6. Here is some ditched concept art for TFU that I found you may or may not have seen yet. Maybe we can pick a character or two and incorporate them? Also, does anyone have any pics or videos of the female main character they showed off in the pre-vis stages of TFU? There was no Starkiller, there was just a female looked kinda like the girl from Mirrors Edge. Id like to model her in as well. I have these, but Ive seen video somewhere. Also, did you know they considered Alderaan for a level in TFU? Interesting... And Haroon?

      yeah ive taken a few hacks at him. The good ol Bull Rancor. Ill most likely model him next time i feel like breaking into some zspheres

  8. I use a certain obj that i built around minilogoguy18's jk3 skeleton to build around in Zbrush since it wont acept the bones. Its a nice reference for me to import into the scene and build around so I know exactly where everything should line up and so I know I wont be doing much moving of the mesh after its built to get it rigged. I also have one of these rigged, which serves for easy animation manipulation in Dragon or something. It is nice to know exactly which bones are where and how hey are affecting the anim. So. I will release these models (the obj and the glm) fo others who may find it beneficial.
  9. Whoa... Is the reason it needs a new anim set because of the cylindrical gears that move the peices might actually move at weird angles? Im not really understanding what you meant when you said he needs a new anim set. Regardless, i made the arms much shorter to match jka skele, but if i wanted them to crawl around like a spider he has two stubby legs =(
  10. Question, Ive seen things about jka 30,000 polygon limit or something. Does that include map brush polys?

      What is an estimated max total tri per level. Including characters on screen? Hiw does vis and cull range and area portals play into this?

      I'm not sure, but I believe the limit is only related to brushes. I don't think models count towards that limit. But then again, I may be mistaken.

  11. I was wondering if we could submit new anims for this mod separately. Like, if you have a gla youve created for a new stormtrooper stance, or want to use a junk titan or rancor and make them some new anims. At any rate, id like to know if there are any animators at all out there because i hate asking katanamaru for everything and my anims are still a bit questionable... if not, the anims will have to wait til after the maps, adding at least another couple months to the release

  13. Theres a couple of characters im not too sure who to ask for permission. A Jawa, an Imperial Officer,a clone trooper,and a scout trooper. Those are the ones Id like to have but would rather not model

  15. A few personal touches and getting stuff cleaned up
  16. I built it straight from a ref right over the jka skele. What i could do is have kazdan rigged to the rancor skele to avoid animating those quadraped legs he has. I have fit him to the skele nicely, but he has to be emotionless and his mouth wont work. Or, i could just rig him to the jka skele from the knees to the elbows since hes short and rig his face correctly. But then his hands wont work. So im tossing around ideas, but hes going to be in the mod regardless. The backpack rigs right up, then i could also just bolt on a kazdan glm once he selects the vehicle like ashura suggested with his arms folded in front of him letting the backpack do all the movement. Chances are, i will have 3 models lol. One kazdan rigged to a rancor skele. One rigged to humanoid skele. One posing glm for while in vehicle. Using the rancor one for when hes walking around with no backpack arms extended, and the humanoid one for any cutscene talking i might need from him. Plus the backpack vehicle character. It should wind up being ok for the brief amount of time he will be in the mod. Plus will be different to see
  17. Is there any way to script a rancor to use a vehicle? Can somebody try it and see if it works?

      I once rode a tauntaun... with a tauntaun (playermodel tauntaun in SP). It was a mixture of creepy and hilarious.

  21. @@Barricade24 No its all good bring on the crits. I dont wanna be this intricate with every model, but i like the jump and evo a lot as well and would like to see them made decently. Show me an idea if how you would like this unwrapped... like maybe show me a texture layout that is very simple for you to work with and i will try to follow those guidelines

  23. I was taking a step back from my model and getting different takes on it with different matcaps abd rendered this out using just reflection settings. Thought it looked cool. Also, @@Barricade24 Do you have any skills at unwrapping? I have no problem unwrapping it, but since youre most likely going to be the one playing with the textures the most, figured you might like it unwrapped to your liking as i personally would just slap it all in one 4096 XD
