  1. First a Battlefront II teaser then the next TF trailer. Great start to the day.

  2. Existential question: when you join a jka server, there is "Welcome player n°XXXXXXXXXX!" on the loading screen. What is this number ?

Its part of the motd server hosted at raven software. They just increase the number every time its pinged with a packet from a client. Irrelevant of master server.

  3. Looking for a blood mod for JO like Blood+ for Jedi Academy; blaster compatible with splatters.

  4. I HATE shaders. They look pretty, but their code is truly a dark sorcery.

Q3 Shaders aren't even shaders by definition of most game engines lol.

  6. Where are my screenshots with OpenJK?

Saves, configs, screenshots, downloads, logfiles are all in the same location. DLLs are now only extracted to temp folder rather than basepath or homepath. It's meant to be portable and consistent with all OS' now. This change won't be going back by default. If you are so inclined to not run the game from program files, feel free to do +set fs_homepath "." in your launch parameters. User files in an install directory isn't very practical at all in modern times IMO.

It's more practical than hiding your files in the hidden Application data folder, which Microsoft considers to be standard.

This isn't just screenshots, its all things written go here. Homepath support was just not specified in the original release for Windows since it predates the time when it was common.

It's there because Multi-User support and because you don't need admin rights to write files, and less damage done by downloaded mods.

  8. When is it safe enough not to have EP VII spoilers wrapped in spoiler tags?

I haven't, and probably won't though since I avoid all movies because reasons, these days.

  11. I've been playing every game all my life at 30 FPS or less. I just managed to get my computer to play a game at 60 fps...wow...it's so much smoother.

Clean it out :P Make sure fan tachometer is running at proper speeds for the percentage.

50 C is not that hot for a non-idle GPU. 100 is hot.

  14. Can someone please tell me exactly why someone would still be using GTKradiant 1.4? I don't get it :P

    1. ensiform

      ensiform

1.5 no, but 1.4 does through 1.6 as it is a continuation of 1.4 branch. 1.5 was written from scratch by spog and does not have the same codebase to just take things and add back.

Nothing probably. But I'm not gonna support anyone doing it for OpenJK. 64Kx64K is quite massive as it is. If your map is that large then you will have plenty of other issues.

You wouldn't even need to use the C/C++ library. There's a function that obtains it already.

trap_RealTime or Com_RealTime depending on where you are code wise.

  20. GtkRadiant should be more like Valve Hammer, 2 features, specificly, are needed from VH; seeing the model in the map without a redbox around it, makes it easier to scale properly, and , there should be a preview window within the objects window, so u can scroll the obj list and see what it is, before u pick any of them.

    1. ensiform

      ensiform

Nobody maintains it. And there's really no point in adding support for it to show models that are only used for display. It supports all models that are converted to trisoup during compile.

You can simply add the model key/value to the ents file (with a value of a supported model extension) similar to how it shows items instead of a box in some "game" ent files.

  22. Could it be possible to fix the issues the Tavion, mercenary and saboteur models have? Some of their textures are transparent depending on whether you look at them at the front or the back.
