  1. My wondering is if I should have the weaker enemies such as the basic reborn be less clothed and visual and the more intimidating ones be more covered and mysterious or vice versa. I almost think I should make the weaker characters have head coverings and such to make them less memorable and the more skilled ones have either unique species heads or just basic human heads uncovered.

    Well, go with what you feel really gives off that "Sith Warrior" or "Sith Lord" effect. I've just updated the link, above, a little.. For better and more varied results. But think about the era, also. If Jedi Academy is set after 'Return of the Jedi', (Thinking more of 'The Force Awakens', here.. With the likes of Kylo Ren. etc.). It's worth noting his powers and Force ability, but also his overall look/appearance. Just something to consider. But I understand your point about the weaker Reborns.. They're not overly that skilled at all and hardly have any Force powers or even use them and are more about Saber skills, then you could go with more of an "Apprentice" look. But then, you should also consider Darth Malgus' role in "The Old Republic". His master was Lord Vindican..

     

     

    Also another thing to consider, is they don't all have to be human, either.. Look at the likes of Darth Maul, Darth Vader (cyborg/suit form). etc.

  2. This was my idea for the basic Reborn. This nor any other pics I upload of models are completely solid so please give suggestions.

    It's a good start, but I wouldn't go with those Jedi Robes, as such.. Unless they're being portrayed as "Dark Jedi".. And even then, it's not an overly great choice. Technically, the Reborn's are Sith Warriors. So if it's available in the Customization Mod list, go with darker Robes. Mix it up a bit..

    A rather long one, I know.. But it should certainly help with inspiration and ideas.

  3. Ok I've gotten it to work with one reborn, so I'd imagine it is more or less the same with the rest. The hardest part now really is just gonna be choosing outfits for different characters with all the options.

    I also am going to go find some nice sith saber hilt models.

    Just to appease everyone, it might be an idea to reveal some screenshots, too. That way we all know what we're getting ourselves into. Just as long as you're trying to stick with Star Wars lore (to a degree)..

     

    But I believe there are different levels of Reborns, though. Some with saber staffs, some with Dual Sabers. etc. And I think it all depends on their Rank/Force Ability. So it might be worth considering that the "lower ranked" Reborns (whilst not looking generic) have a similar look/feel to them and then you get a Reborn who is a much higher rank and you could essentially go along the lines of Sith Lords, such as Darth Malgus, Darth Maul, Count Dooku.. And others from the Star Wars EU lore. Just to sorta' help with creativity and ideas.

    To be honest, I'm surprised nobody's done this "Reborn Replacement" mod, yet.. There's some awesome material/content in that Spanki's Customization Pack. All the variations of different Sith's you could have, like Darth Maul with a slight twist. etc.

    Though there is a new LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens game coming out, and LEGO games lately use the voices from whichever movie/franchise they represent. The chances are I may be able to make a second soundpack once that releases in June.

    Yeah, I've seen this.. Deeply considering getting it on XBOX One. Quite excited for it. But everyone doing Kylo Ren models now, will at least have voice work to go with their character to "bring them to life", thanks to you. Good work!

    So where did you finally manage to pull all the files and soundbytes from, for your Kylo Ren soundpack? Did you eventually manage to get all the content you needed from Disney Infinity or was it another source?

  7. Are you referring to Kylo Ren's saber sound? Because Finn/Rey's saber had the same sounds as in previous movies. Martyr's Kylo saber has great sounds.

    Yeah, I have Darth Martyr's Kylo saber, downloaded. No, I mean to make the sounds of the lightsabers, just in general.. Sound a lot more intense, stronger (and I guess you could say volatile), as they do in the movie. Not "unstable", though and not to be confused with Kylo's saber sound.

  8. Yeah! That looks much better!! You've almost got it spot on. As far as the actual glow of the lightsaber goes (not the blade), but the glow.. (If it's possible), I'd adjust the colour. 'Cos I was going to say if you could, you could try to get that glow to be a bit more of an Aqua Blue colour :winkthumb:. As it currently has the Guardian Blue (which is a darker tone/shade of colour)

    Finally, in regards to the actual blade, itself (being somewhat nitpicky), I would just (ever so slightly) adjust the blade a little more at the bottom of the shaft (if possible) and make it just a tad thinner. Those two adjustments and you'll have the perfect replica! :woot:

    I don't mod, myself, but I can understand and appreciate just how hard & tedious it may be, to try and get the right result and is probably borderline irritating. But credit is given where credit is due and this mod is really coming along nicely.

    Also, if you're looking to create the snow effect and particles. etc. from the Finn & Rey vs. Kylo duel (also seen in my forum signature), I think either "Evolution of Combat III" uses the same system for particles and such and also Movie Duels II uses it, for it's effects. How difficult it'd be to extract that system and use it in a mod of your own, though.. I've no idea. As again, I'm not a mod creator, myself.


    @@Circa Is there a way, to get the saber sounds (the "humming", "blade ignition" and "clashing") to be more intense and a bit louder, like it was/is in The Force Awakens?

    @@GPChannel Here you go, you should be able to view/access this.. The quality isn't brilliant (near DVD quality) but hopefully it will really be able to help with the lightsabers and their blades/glows. etc.

    first i will just recreate JKA in TFA style....

    I plan that after you finish with JKA the game will automaticly load a yavin academy map...in this map you can chose new missions from TFA....

    (you know you will find some new doors for the bonus missions (if somebody played Movie Duels 2 mod,they know what i mean :) ) )

    Like:

     

    Finn vs Kylo

    Rey vs Kylo

    Finn vs TR-8R

    and things like that...

    you know some small TFA duel mission :)

    Yeah, that's awesome! I have and still use the Movie Duels II mod (definitely pick that over "Movie Battles II"). So I know exactly what you're talking about. But I like the sound of where it's headed. It'll be interesting to see what the maps look like, too.

    @@GPChannel Are you doing story and map mods, too.. Or is it just a Force Awakens content conversion for the base game (so you play through the main story of the default game with The Force Awakens content)? Just curious..

    Do you want the blade color more aqua or the glow what is surrounds it. :)

    Well, to be honest.. It'd be too difficult for me to explain what I'm getting at, without sounding confusing. I guess the best thing you could do, is to use those above .gif images of Finn, to see what the lightsaber blade looks like. The best one to use for the colour and so forth, is this one;

    These should give you a pretty decent foundation for what end result you should try to achieve. The center colour of the blade itself, looks to be a very light/aqua blue sort of colour and the glow is seemingly the same colour, but darker, naturally. But I'll leave it upto you to use your own judgement on that one.

  12. @@GPChannel Are you still working on the saber blades, GP.. Or are the image/s shown above, the final product? Overall, I'm really liking the look of what you've done with them, but just curious if they're still a WiP? I would say the blue lightsaber could probably do to use a little more of an "aqua blue" glow to it, to really get that Force Awakens look to it. Do you have plans to add in the saber trails, too or are they already done?

    All progressing well, so far, though. Keep it up!

    Now, THIS.. I'm really starting to like. The lightsaber blade looks a lot better, too. Looking forward to seeing the updated clothes. Do you think you could also turn Jaden's hair (male) brown? Always kinda' hated how it's supposed to be brown, but they made it look like a ginger'ish red.

     

    Also, I was gonna mention this, but I dunno how you are with coding. But if you know how to change the code to make the lightsaber's ignite out of their hilts a lot quicker. Hence Finn's .gif image, I posted above.. Or if that's a different thing, entirely.

  14. As I wrote here, I'm working on "Mod Compilation". It's one PK3 file containing my favorite mods (also in my opinion best mods that ever been released). This first package of mods I called "New Republic Era + The Force Awakens". This means that it contains for example the characters from the side stories (books, comics, games, etc.) + characters from the the latest movie "The Force Awakens". In the future I plan maybe another Mod Compilations like Clone Wars, Original Trilogy etc.

     

    I creating these mod packs mostly for myself. I don't plan to release it on the Internet for the public (but not excluding this option). The reason why it can't be released is that I did not create this mods, so if I don't gain permission of the original authors, I can't release it. However, I will try to reach agreement with the authors of these mods, then maybe this "Mod Compilation" will appear here on JKhub.

     

    The first Mod Pack "New Republic Era + The Force Awakens" contains in my opinion a lot of the best models I've ever seen.  I consider authors of these mods to be the masters and I would like to thank them for their great work. Create mods is not easy, I know that very well.

    Some NPCs are added (e.g. Rey, Finn, Han Solo, etc.), some other NPCs replace the original (e.g. original stormtrooper from JK3 is replaced by stromtrooper from TFA).

    I wanted to remake some of my favorite Multi Player maps to Single Player version (with the NPC), but with that I have still a little problems.

    Into Mod pack will be included also other mods such as weapons, Player Customization and more.

I will continue in the making of this mod compilation. But if I don't gain permission from each author of each mod, I will never release the Mod Pack for public... remains only for me.

     

    And why am I doing this? Well, certainly not because I was bored. It's because I always hated the mess in the base folder. Dozens of pk3 files... a big chaos.

    ONE pk3, ONE kind of Star Wars theme (KOTOR or Clone Wars or The New Republic)... that's better for me... that's what i want/need in Jedi Academy.

    Personally, I wouldn't go with Kualan's version of Kylo Ren. No disrespect to Kualan, in any form. But there is a better and more "movie accurate" version of the character model, out there, found here; http://jkhub.org/files/file/2626-kylo-ren/. Either that or I'd wait a bit longer, for someone else to do a newer version. Also, Kualan's model is quite an old mod, too.

    If you're looking to improve on the blades, particularly the blue one.. You should definitely go with Finn/Rey's lightsaber. The intensity of the colour and glow. Although, I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head, there.. With the glow.

     

    As far as the colour goes, try these.. It could do to be one or two shades more of a lighter/whiter blue, as you can see below;

    Truly excellent work, Psyk! Your time and effort have really paid off with this. If only Raven/LucasArts had you around back in the day, to design models and content for them. The attention to detail is incredible! The model does remind me quite a lot of the Magna-guards from the prequels (I dunno if that's where the inspiration for this particular model/character came from)

     

    Now, I wanna go up against two of these mother-fucka's, in-game  :P.

    I'm not the greatest at zbrush so I'm aware its not perfect, I'm still fiddling with the cloth folds and creases. 

     

    But I'm going to make a start on retopologisng the head into a lowpoly model, whilst I continue work on the sculpt.

     

    Comments and criticism always welcomed.

    Looks promising, so far.. Will be interesting to see how it progresses.
