One of these ones, with the fixed hairstyle. Not exactly sure who made it, sorry ^^' I know the original one is from Tompa9. If it's still, like, in development, then cool, I was just wondering if one of those versions was available to download somewhere.

Actually mine and Punisher's versions were first, before Tompa made his version for his mod. And no, long time not into sharing/releasing anything, barely have the time to work on anything new/old.

  2. Anakin Skywalker (Original Trilogy - Sebastian Shaw) version 3. If Anakin survived after his redemption to the light.
Credits to: Jeff (hand textures to match face), The Punisher (Troubleshooting of weight issues), Sirius (polishing of face texture).
Body mesh: Free Radicals Battlefront 3 "Old Ben Kenobi", hair mesh: Force Arena "Full Krenic / Animated version".
Photoshopped head morph of Anakin/Hayden, since no good reference photos available of Sebastian Shaw.

  3. P.S. I don't want to be offensive but calling The Punisher one of the best artists in this HUB is very out of place. He is skilled porter and understands model edits and he deservers full credit for his work (shame it ended like that) but there are far better model artists like Scerendo, Langerd, DT85, AshuraDx, PsykoSith etc... I've improved a lot in past 2 years and I know from people's reactions I'm kinda popular but I still count myself as little worm in comparations with those  :D

I will advise you to read in detail. I didn't say that he is better than those who actually are capable to make something from scratch and proven artists that can easily make a masterpiece. I was speaking about those of us who are porting / kitbashing, as he quickly become more experienced than me only as he invested more time and practice, he thought me valuable lessons on weighting that saved me hours of work.

@@AshuraDX Glad that we had this conversation you have highlighted some details I was probably missing. Ende gut, alles gut :)

  4. Oh boy.

Yes, you completely missed my point, thank you for confirming that.

Let me show you what I mean:

Why do you believe that, when the first sentence in my post that started this debate goes completely against that assumption of yours?

I am completely indifferent to whether you port stuff or not, I'm offering feedback on the work people do with it. Feel free to question @@Asgarath83 or @@Tompa9 about it if you feel the need to.

My intent is for people to learn a new skill and have fun with that new skill. And in that case it does not matter whether it is rigging, modeling, texturing, painting, rock climbing or anything else I have a decent amount of knowledge about.

All I pointed out was that it''s hypocritical to take a model from someone else (like the company that owns the videogame said model is taken from), edit it and then get mad when someone takes your edit, edits it and posts it somewhere else.

As that is pretty much what you have done before. I will say that it has gotten better and you people state more clearly where the models you have taken came from.

But you still didn't ask for explicit permission to take the model out of its source media and share the files online, have you?

That Is everything I meant to say.

I don't know if you simply didn't read my post carefully, had trouble understanding what I said (the Language Barrier I was getting at, which you neglected) or just enjoy putting words in my mouth for the sake of having an argument.

I really don't know , but this is literally the same as what happened last year back on the MD2 Thread:

A single person didn't read my post properly and started an argument over porting that stretched over more than one page - which is unnecessary drama that could easily be prevented by simply reading things more carefully.

    Thank you.

I have understand your point. Drama, flame wars or anything related to such misunderstanding is not my concern and not my goal. The above reply can be taken in two parts, one providing a real statement which I honor and respect and one, that is also confirming another misunderstanding from my first answer.

Small part of that I will quote below:

The main point was that the JKA world is dead since the past couple of years I was on a big pause until 2009 and since than I am back and active as much as possible, even though many of you who were older and more dedicated users in this forum or other forums in the past, you contributed a lot that is appreciated. As you very well know the mod request sections is constantly overloaded with request, many of them are duplicated. When the technologies and situations gave us the opportunity we took it and we improved in a field that many may not agree with, but it made us learn useful tricks and less time consuming, as speaking of the point that not every single person is willing to learn or capable to invest the time to (not referring to laziness and other lame excuses). So if we keep that in mind, respectively keep a side the point of view you shared above which I cannot deny - my point was simple:

I am very proud of what I have personally achieved and as mentioned in a previous statement, I am more than glad to get feedback from other more experienced modelers, when I really am working and needing to (given the fact that I am not active for the past year and a half). For example you may see or even ask @@The Punisher who was highly inspired by my nothing, but a crappy so called "Starkiller pack" as he is a huge fan of TFU - when he started he barely knew what Blender is and how to swap a head on another model, now he himself is one of the best artists I know in this forum even though he does not produce self made content from the complete zero.

About the rights - I may agree with you, but you have to remember that not the entire world is based on the german principals and strict laws (unfortunately). If I download a Luke model from Force Arena / EA Games Battlefront provided over at facepunch forums, should I don't ask the author if he have the permission to port it and share it in the visible mass public with the approval of the official developers. If that was against the rules I highly doubt this site would have made it all this time on the internet, all should have been banned, blocked and they would have been sued.

I remember the lame flaming wars and arguments on the MD2 Remastered, if you really see things this way for this conversation I can only feel sorry, again this has nothing to do with the languages I can say it in german for you if that might be the problem as it's my better language than english and still I don't see how it will change from my point of view.

What I would do however, I will honor your opinion and shake a hand virtually with you.

    Tschüss.

  5. No, that is not related to a language barrier. I am no lawyer myself to provide you with exact detailed evidence related to this or any other EULA.

Based on your opinion, I understand you are aiming to say something that will sound more like the following: JKHub and every single other SW Game related community should not tolerate any ported content from other authors/games, unless it is made from scratch from the artists.

I strongly disagree with you here, because if this was the case - there shouldn't be public, such as one of the biggest (if not The only) Facepunch forums. There are
quite a great amount of ported and extracted content which is used not only for fan artworks, movies  - but even for providing new vibes of "life" to old games.

If the entire staff on this fan community is aiming to stay in the legal safe waters, I will understand it. I do hope that is sorted out and visible to the mass public that visits this website. Otherwise everyone is free to have their own opinion as one thing I learned from the saga - it is all about the point of view.

By all this I am not saying that "oh, no you should totally allow ports, I am not happy bla-bla-bla". Of course I understand all your concerns. Perhaps I was not able to express myself in the previous post well, as I was at work and may got distracted while answering.
I do not believe that it is rightful to steal something, no matter if it is ported, kitbashed or self made fan artwork (assuming that the owners of all those have at least approval to say a minimum of "Well, that is a part from "XYZ" thank you for your hard work"). What is bothering me more than this fact, is the other fact that another 4-th or 5-th user will re-upload that and claim it as their own.
In a simple example (Ashura makes an amazing lightsaber, Dark uses the saber to attach it over the belt of Vader with the permission and approval of Ashura to do so, later another person downloads that model of Vader (kitbashed/ported) with the self made saber by Ashura and re-uploads both of them claiming ownership of the entire work of art).

  6. @@AshuraDX Yes, you got it partially understood. Just to clarify does this mean, that people should only work their own fan artworks from scratch and not doing the same by using other author's material based on approvals or even sections of the certain game's EULA? Should you say that people should invest more in further improvement of their skills, after managing to successfully port a model or kitbash one, that doesn't crash up in the game instead of keeping a simple line of additional assets.

I am releasing finally my debut album 31-st of this month and after that I will have more time finally to give some lights on my fan movie and other projects. Cannot guarantee if I may give another chance at modeling and spent another couple of years to improve on that field sadly.

  7. @@Jeff, @@dark_apprentice have you ever heard or read the term fan art?

If anyone of us goes ahead and creates a fan made depiction of a character or location in any medium, be it a drawing, sculpture or 3d model.

    It's something completely different from

Ripping and porting a depiction of a character that was made by an artist, who was hired and paid by a Game developer, to be featured in a video game which is the developers property.

And in the case of a Star Wars game, that Game was developed under a license with specific terms granted by the owner of Star Wars.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_art, https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Fanart

    See the difference?

One is legally untouchable (as long as you're not making profit off it) and generally seen as a tribute to the original source, while the other is a copyright violation on multiple levels.

Actually I am quite familiar with it as I am constantly dealing with such things and own royalties, as I am sound engineer and working with many clients, recently even started to collaborate with Universal GMBH :) That is also to say, that even for game related topics such as JKA am familiar with how much and when it is against the rules. Specifically for JKA and even TFU it's okay to do so (since both are no longer canon and rights are given away), as long as no profit is gained - which you can clearly see is not the case.

The main point was that the JKA world is dead since the past couple of years I was on a big pause until 2009 and since than I am back and active as much as possible, even though many of you who were older and more dedicated users in this forum or other forums in the past, you contributed a lot that is appreciated. So if we keep that in mind, respectively keep a side the point of view you shared above which I cannot deny - my point was simple:

You cannot model something from scratch, that is okay, but when you have so modern and advanced softwares such as Blender, that provide you and save you hundreds of hours of hard work and there are plenty of good tutorials in JKHub and YouTube on how to change a head / other mesh / of a model for JKA/JKO, I don't see what is the problem beside pure laziness. We tried to bring new life into this game I do not claim anything from anyone, I do not need to sell them or keep them just for myself. There were flaming and immature wars with people I would prefer to keep their users names for myself as I don't like to point finger at anyone, who keep it going on in a loop on this circle for the past 2 years maybe. Yes I would love to share the model with everyone, I welcome all the critics as they are constructive and I am no snowflake to get easily offended. My problem is that when you do it, it gets automatically "re-ripped off" you may even say so, in the same exact forum just with a tone or two of the colors changed and the person is claiming "hey check out my model". Well no, it is not yours - it is not mine either, but I am the one who have invested time and knowledge on it so you can have it at least say "thank you" or "F**** you XYZ (username) I can do better".

That is the entire point and I am really sick and tired of repeating this, there are couple of reasons that I and few other people went offline and we will no longer contribute to the public with our content, beside sharing it to our own enjoyment and pure fan artworks, such as mods or photoshopped images and guess what - that have eventually helped out those who really needed to learn and worked as it helped to sifting out people who were not willing to take the easy basic steps of kitbashing and if no one is willing to say it in straight words because someone may get offended or blocked I really don't give a damn any longer, but I will not keep silence and will not aim for attention like others would like to.

Honestly, I don't care if you restrict yourself to porting stuff, it's fine if you want to do that - it's your decision.

    BUUUUUUT(T)...

I don't get how people can feel so entitled over ported models.

You may have converted it to another format and you may have rigged it, which was your work, yes - but the original model was still made by someone else and usually taken without asking for permission.

Taken from someone who put a lot of time and work into crafting a beautiful model.

And you come along feeling like it's okay to be taking their models without asking, yet get annoyed by people who take your rigging work without asking?

    See the irony here?

I get your point but where does it end. If you make a model of Boba Fett from scratch you're still stealing someone's property, anything that has Star Wars content (or any other franchise) is ripping off George Lucas or Disney.

My exact point. As speaking in particular for myself, Jeff, Punisher and couple of other "old school" kitbashers/porters - we always aimed to obtain all the required permissions, when needed to do so.

    However (...)

As Jeff said already, even if we make it from scratch it's still stealing the property of Lucas and Disney as we are not officially working for their teams. I do share also your two cents as with time we grew up to understand many things, not only in here, but I would very much like to avoid a "certain" behavior that is already becoming a trade mark to few. I am more than happy to see that people such as Tompa9 are finally taking their first steps into a larger world of modeling (even if we speak about ports, kitbashes etc.) I also value the german strict work ethic you have, as this is probably the main thing that drives your passion to go on and improve what others cannot.

In the end, I am going to say: If and when they (as I am out of this for the past 1 or 1,5 years) feel like sharing, perhaps they will. If they have their own two cents on why they should not I do not see a reason to circle around the same story every 6-7 months or so.

  9. It is not only about that, it was slight note of what the real picture is. What really bothers us or more likely my friends, as I am no longer having the time to spend on JKA is the fact, that
most will download those ports for free and re-upload them here or at other JKA/JKO communities, claiming ownership of the ports/kitbashes, something that they even didn't bother to ask "may I" or at least "original model thanks to XYZ user of this and that site". Now calm your tits down.

  10. So Im already working on a better version. Thanks @@Daedra for making this topic so I could have realised what can be improved  :winkthumb:  :D

How it looks now (still in progress):

    1. Boots were replaced by more quality version.

    2. Toshi's belt was replaced by DT85's one from his TFA Luke model with my addition of belt holder.

    3. Reskinned face and head from Force Arena with face lifting and beard edit. When I cut mullet it would look like this:

    4. Would like to improve robe textures and then Im going to improve shape of his hood as was suggested.

I am really happy to see you are improving your skills with this game. However one of the reasons I never ran with Force Arena's head of old Luke is because when you try to cut off his hair in Blender, you'll notice there is no neck. Meaning this will be a problem to fix with another frankenstein. That's why I sticked with DT's head "beta" version

  11. I have school ;)

I am happy to see you are using one of my kitbashes as your profile picture. But I would be even happier, if you invest more time to learn at least basics of Blender or any other similar software that you can afford, I believe Blender was for free. Believe me it is easier to swap a model's head or arm, cape - than typing an entire request or spending time to bump up requests. Who knows if you try yourself you may be the next masterpiece modeler or mapper in here, but you gotta try it. Don't hide behind such excuses as school as many of the older members here since I know myself or this community are or were already adults with way more problems to deal with in personal life, but they still got it working.

  12. Your Luke models are the best I've ever seen.

Appreciated. Actually it is a personal collaboration with Punisher and other artist's work, such as hips from DT's version, hands are from Scerendo and arms from Hapslash, Oobah, Jolly. Head is EA Battlefront 2017 and hair Force Arena. Yoda comes from Toshi and backpack is royalty free model.
