  1. I vaguely remember when you first started on this I think....I recall seeing screenshots on the models WIP.
  2. That and Kaspersky isn't exactly Fort Knox.
  3. No lie, I went to this bar down the road from the convention for dinner saturday night..(we had left and gone to a mc donalds the previous but there was some music festival in town making it impossible to park in the evenings)...and paid $10 for a burger and fries...it was good...but it was smaller than a kids meal at a mc donalds.
  4. It really wasn't that bad cost-wise...a 3-day pass was only $30 and if you wanted VIP it was $45...Hotel costs were pretty good too, I found a Hilton Garden Inn about 15 mins from the con that was $80 a night, I only needed two nights, and was traveling with a friend so I only paid $80 of that. The expensive part was food, almost everything around the con is bar food, so its pricier than a fast food joint. And I only live about 2 1/2 hours from the con, so travel wasn't bad.
  5. This was basically my point...I can't see myself playing this, but if a team that small can build a game (even creating the engine) then it gives me a little more confidence in my own abilities.
  6. This was taken at the Escapist Expo I was at last weekend...I ended up in this video but sans my Creeper head @1:33 :/ several videos are floating around of me gangnaming as a creeper, just haven't found any yet....there was a lot of gangnam going on actually.. BTW, "Drunk Garrus" @3:08 was damn hysterical.
  7. Well I will be showing things like texture work for models, or mapping...that would be more of a background image...however most of the principles you can learn are the same.
  8. This isn't me, but I met this couple at the Escapist Expo today, awesome Garrus and Tali cosplays.
  9. The reduction process is the whole reason this is taking so long lol. Like I said, I never intended this to go in the game when I first made it. -EDIT- Also, none of the meshes should have backfaces, I was very thorough in removing them when I began the whole process.
  10. I'm not even a coder and I know that if he didn't set it up that way then the bot would probably have responded to himself...which would have been a nightmare lol.
  11. He works fast....I tried to edit a post cause I had submitted it before I'd realized what I'd done, and he was there within seconds >.<
  12. With our luck you would code a spambot for it, then we would have this whole L i n u x problem all over again <.< tried to come back and edit this to stop him...wasn't quick enough >.<
  13. Not really much to show visually at this point, but I finished the UV mapping last night.
  14. Scripting *might* make that possible...but I have little to no experience in that area...so I cant say for sure.
  15. Well it is almost always trial and error when making textures...and usually you have to make overlays and sample details from real world stuff...and kinda mix things together. Maybe I'll look into setting up some photoshop videos made that could act as "texturing classes". -Edit- If I did so I was thinking of doing them as livestreams, that would also be recorded for later viewing. This would allow people to join the stream and ask questions live. But here are my questions for everyone here; what kind of techniques would everyone be interested to learn? Should I do a class on features of photoshop? any other ideas? post stuff here and I will start working on some lesson plans. also what time would be most convenient for a stream? I'm on EST time. I'll announce streams a good week in advance.
  16. This is why I have a 2 TB harddrive called Library...specifically to keep projects and junk off my desktop
  17. the texture bit is weird...I don't work in XSI so I couldn't say what the issue is with the mesh...but your description is definitely one of a model who's xforms are messed up.
  18. sounds like you didn't reset each meshes Xform...Idk how that is done in XSI tho... Also...textures are done with the .skin file...you assign one to each part of the mesh via name...not really sure why your trying to export textures....then again I have only been skimming this conversation.
  19. Kinda my point...the build is easy, the rigging is not likely to be easy.
  20. the head is ported from KOTOR tho >.<, so depressing.
  21. ^This. I don't think he would be difficult to build overall...but making him fit that skeleton without making him look fucked up? Not likely.
  22. Cleaned up the mesh a bit...it is still roughly 15k ploys overall tho, and roughly 16k in verts...no bueno
