Tim Drake Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 The game is £2.03 on Steam right now but I am a bit of a graphics whore.. I don't play a game if it is too outdated so I know of the Texture overhaul 0.3v but I was wondering if there was anything else to help improve the games look as I remember playing Jedi Outcast as a kid and i'm still astonished and the near perfected lightsaber combat. Any mods to overall improve graphical fidelity or improve the game to make it more enjoyable.
Smoo Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I'll link some later but first you should make a autoexec for custom resolution Open notepad then type in seta r_customwidth 1920seta r_customheight 1080seta r_mode -1seta cg_fov 100set cg_thirdpersonrange 200set cg_gunZ 3 Then save it in game data/base as autoexec.cfg without .txt in filename
Circa Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Not really. Texture overall is great. The UltimateWeapons mod is really good as well. Other than those, not really anything that'll make it years ahead of its time or anything.
Raz0r Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 set r_picmip 0 // maximum texture resolution, default is half texture resolution set cg_shadows 2 // stencil shadows set r_DynamicGlow 1 // post process glow around sabers and such set r_ext_texture_filter_anisotropic 16 // 16x anisotropic filtering set r_textureMode GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR // trilinear texture filtering set s_khz 44 // higher sound quality snd_restart // restart sound system vid_restart // restart rendererOpenJK will change the defaults for some of those to balance visuals and performance. Your graphics driver may also be limiting what OpenGL extensions retail jamp.exe/jasp.exe has available. Smoo likes this

Rend2 (if we get that far.)What is it? set r_picmip 0 // maximum texture resolution, default is half texture resolution set cg_shadows 2 // stencil shadows set r_DynamicGlow 1 // post process glow around sabers and such set r_ext_texture_filter_anisotropic 16 // 16x anisotropic filtering set r_textureMode GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR // trilinear texture filtering set s_khz 44 // higher sound quality snd_restart // restart sound system vid_restart // restart rendererOpenJK will change the defaults for some of those to balance visuals and performance. Your graphics driver may also be limiting what OpenGL extensions retail jamp.exe/jasp.exe has available. What's OpenJK? I think that I shall go for Jedi Outcast over Jedi Academy as I remember the story being far more enjoyable as a kid. What kind of mods would be best for Jedi Outcast besides "Reborn mod" (hopefully comes out soon!!) Smoo likes this
Boothand Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 What kind of mods would be best for Jedi Outcast besides "Reborn mod" (hopefully comes out soon!!)Ultimate Weapons mod really is a treat, with some modifications. Weapons feel much better, and looks more like the weapon effects from the original trilogy (shots smoke and burn with impact etc). Although you may not want to modify anything, I prefer the base lightsabers, with these saber sounds.
AshuraDX Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 QEffectshttps://jkhub.org/files/file/1484-qeffects-pro/Could be compared to SweetFXyou can modify settings in a .ini file
Lancelot Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 @@Tim DrakeEverything you need to know about OpenJK is explained here:http://jkhub.org/topic/2220-frequently-asked-questions/ And Rend2 is a project that aims to improve the graphics of Jedi Academy, to give the game a more modern look.

Raz0r Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Both. Configs are just send through the console's command/cvar parser line by line.
scp_chaos1 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 friend I pass a link of two forums that maybe something draws you tackle a project of mine for jka I hope something here interests you.http://www.moddb.com/groups/scp-chaos-ops-the-clan-oficialhttp://scifi-network.newagesoldier.com/forum-scp-chaos-ops
Jolly Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 I would not say there are any essential mods for a newcomer to JKA. Unless you want to replace models or add fancy effects there is not much to it. But there are some mods related to JKA you could check out such as Movie Battles 2 or Movie Duels or even the unfinished Dark Forces mod.
