IrocJeff
I hope you add custom sounds to it and maybe try to replicate the firetime and damage. Oh, and make it available for jk2 please.... Link to comment

Here's a youTube link for the blaster sound. I did find some stuff from Left for Dead that is supposed to have a blaster sound but I couldn't open up a vpk file. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zqw28__RYXo Link to comment
Mandalorian
made a variant for the carbine, esb version. New uv for this taught me how to be neater. Bek, Sithani, Onysfx and 2 others like this Link to comment
AshuraDX
the UV's could still be improved, give this a shot :apply a checkerboard texture to the model while UV mapping, then try to keep everything in evensized squares, otherwise you'll get blurry/stretched textures on some places and extremely crisp textures on other parts just compare your barrel with the back of the gun and you'll see what I mean, the checker texture helps to avoid issues like this Link to comment
Mandalorian
that's actually exactly what I did ashura it's just that when i made the uvmap that part of it exported at 512x512 and the rest are higher resolution sorry that's 128x128. Mandalorian
made his blaster to go with these. It's a very simple design but I had fun building it using my sideshow figure for referance.I plan to make a few more of the guns he is seen with. Most of all I am happy with the edge splitting I did here. Bek and Jeff like this Link to comment
AshuraDX
wireframes please !keep it in mind for your WIP models as wireframes make it easier for us more experienced modelers to help you improve your models Mandalorian likes this Link to comment
Mandalorian
Sure, I haven't finished this so it's a little high poly's. I messed up the handle a bit. I'll keep in mind wireframes in future. Bek likes this Link to comment
Jolly
some pics ingame:Is this map going to be featured in the mod or is it just a random map to demonstrate the animations and model(s) Link to comment
Mandalorian
It needs some work but it will likely be in the mod. Link to comment
AshuraDX
@@Mandalorian Sorry again,Wireframe overlay would be better than a pure wireframe pic I need to express myself more clear the next time Link to comment

AshuraDX
woah, that needs to be cleaned up the handle is a complete mess right nowYou have quite a few random vertices you really don't need (atleast from what I can tell) in there Link to comment
minilogoguy18
The barrel should honestly be redone with say a 10 sided cylinder, right now different sections have different amounts of iterations which would cause all sorts of problems if you did something like tried to bake normals. Kinda going on what Ashura said you should aim to make things out of quads as much as possible with the edgeloops following the major features. Link to comment
Mandalorian
Yeah I know the handle is a mess. I'm still learning the ins and outs of looping techniques.I think the only good points is the hard edgeing worked how I wanted and the blaster is accurate. This only took me three hours which I thought was good for a beginner. I'll probably remake it. Thanks for your criticisms. I look up to modelling pros such as yourselves. Link to comment
Mandalorian
Well I started to rebuild. Just the barrel so far. much neater and smaller in faces. AshuraDX and Circa like this Link to comment

AshuraDX
@@Mandalorian Yes ! much betterat the first glance I only see 2 vertices you could probably weld, at the rear end of the gun above the handleyou got a sstretched face going form the inside of the trigger guard to that upper corner, you could weld the front vertex of those to the back one and save 1 vertex per side but that's really nitpicking now Link to comment
Mandalorian
Thanks for all your advice, Ashura It's fun making the models and I am quite proud of them for a first run. Sithani likes this Link to comment
Mandalorian
These are the final results on my first three models. They all have shaders and the second blaster has a first person view. the other two don't as of yet. Jeff, DarthStiv, Barricade24 and 3 others like this Link to comment
