MaceMadunusus
It achieves nearly the same thing while giving almost no performance hit. Not a big deal in a game as old as this, but hey. Not everyone is running a GTX 770 like myself I always forced 4x MSAA in JKA since I had a Geforce 7800GS... of course I'm no longer on that, but my framerates were always fine, even on that old card when I had it. I wouldn't worry about it. Link to comment
Xycaleth
MSAA is almost guaranteed to be the fastest antialiasing technique as there are dedicated transistors on the GPU to handle it. Any other technique would essentially be "emulated" (not quite but it's the closest analogy I could think of). Link to comment
AshuraDX
Did anybody write a guide on how to setup and use rend2 yet ? couldn't find anything on my quick search and while I'm sure there have been posts containing pieces of information all over the place would anybody mind writing a quick guide and post it under tutorials ? Xycaleth
I'm cautious of doing so because people might assume that rend2 is production-ready, when the truth is it's far from it. I suppose I can add a disclaimer at the beginning of the tutorial if that's fine with people. Exmirai, Archangel35757 and Boothand like this Link to comment
AshuraDX
ah I see , building OJK with rend2 atm - so far nothing exploded as expected I'll report any problems I run into that I can't fix with a quick search here Link to comment

OmarFW
Nothing is stopping you/someone else from implementing it yourself in a separate branch though. Someone should get in touch with this guy, http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalax Archangel35757 likes this Link to comment
Xycaleth
He left JKA ages ago and he admitted himself that he didn't get very far with adding physics to his mod Link to comment
Archangel35757
He left JKA ages ago and he admitted himself that he didn't get very far with adding physics to his mod...but that was before all of the source code was released, right? Is he aware that all of the source code is available now? Link to comment
Xycaleth
I think so, I'm not sure. I can't remember exactly when he disappeared. Last I heard of him, he was studying a software engineering course at university. Link to comment
Stoiss
after he did his come back and maked his source open source he more or less stop working on it and that was in 2010/2011 Link to comment
OmarFW
At least he made a good proof of concept. If he could do that much without the source code, I imagine someone would be able to get a fully functional physics system running in OpenJK. Link to comment
ensiform
Imagine how much of a pain it would be to integrate and it would not work with a vanilla OpenJK, you'd be making your own engine+mod at that point.---------------------------------------------------Please return to rd-rend2 discussion. Stoiss
stalax physics system was done in lua, for what i remember of together wtih that source code for that physics engine Xycaleth used Link to comment
Futuza
How about motion blur? That can be implemented using rend2, JKG will soon have it back in. Link to comment
Exmirai
openjk already have rend2-motionblur branch, but there are no activity( Link to comment
Tempust85
Just wait until rend2 is fully ported before worrying about extra stuff. Having rend2 itself will be amazing enough. gerbilOFdoom likes this Link to comment
OmarFW
How about motion blur? I think it's a pointless feature in any game anyways. It would be terrible for saber fighting and is only useful in games that are locked at low framerates. It certainly doesn't make things look more realistic or fluid. Link to comment

OmarFW
You could argue that the whole of rd-rend2 is pointless. I disagree. It serves the important function of making my balls explode with excitement since it's the closest thing to JK4 we'll ever get looks-wise. eezstreet likes this Link to comment
