  1. I think I might give that a try for the time being, though it's so tedious in comparison to the ease of the Blender plugin. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed no matter what!
  2. Awesome! Keep me updated on your progress with the bone fiddling and all that, I wouldn't even know where to begin! All of this has made me feel like such a noob, my expertise always did lie more in skinning than this sort of stuff.
  3. Yep, I just did the same thing. So in the end, aside from this blender plugin or a 3dMax one being released, just cannot get a way to import with weights. We will just need to wait for mrwonko to save the day.
  4. Alright, so I found an old copy of Max 8 and the exporter that worked with it. I used Noesis to convert the (original unedited) .glm. First I tried .fbx, but importing that into Max causes Max to crash. I then tried .obj, which imports, but without weights. I don't think that route is going to work for wanting to do this without reweighing the model from scratch. Ashura - I could import the .fbx into 3DS Max 2015, but then how do I save the model from 3dmax to .xsi/.glm without an exporter? Am I meant to then use Noesis again to reconvert to .glm?
  5. Currently I'm using Max 2015 and unfortunately none of the exporters seem to work for it. I get an error on startup saying the plugin won't be loaded as it's made for an older version.
  6. Thank you Circa. I'll have a look at this, though I'll still be happy to see the Blender one updated if mrwonko decides to do it. Always good to only have to work in one program.
  7. What is Noesis? A Google search brings up a few different things. Which of your files is the right one? I assume we also need dotXSI? I'd like to give it a try for the time being but might need a bit more explanation, as it's not as straight-forward as using just Blender. The good thing about the Blender plugin is that you don't need multiple programs and conversions to get the job done. Oh, and most important - does it preserve normals?

  9. I downgraded my Blender plugin to 2.68, imported the original model and exported it. Unfortunately the problem remains. From what I've read in other threads, some people get the issue and some don't. I don't know why, maybe just the way their model is made. But if the plugin itself isn't built to handle normals, it's probably not going to work regardless of version if that particular model gets the problem.
  10. It is possible, but we'd need someone to code/release that plugin as we are not all so talented.
  11. I have used 3DS Max in the past. The trouble with that one is that it doesn't import weights the way the blender plugin does, meaning you have to know how to redo them. Even if you do know, it can be quite time consuming.
  12. You said 'might currently ignore', It was worth trying everything.
  13. I tried the modifier for normal adjustment, but upon exporting the model defaulted back to the messed up normals. Seems it imports and strips them, then strips them again upon export. Out of curiosity do you have any intention of updating your plugin to fix this particular thing?
  14. Not sure why I recieved such a snappy reply. I was just looking for a solution outside the scope of altering the plugin. But maybe someone else who knows some python could chip in to add the part to make Blender retain Normals on import/export. I have no idea how to code. I did notice today that the issue seems to happen upon import, not just export, if that's of use to anyone trying to fix this.
  15. Models lose their normals upon being imported. Hoping for a fix!
  16. FuzzyTosser. does what you did also prevent the issues from frankenstieners get where lighting is no longer smooth between model pieces?
  17. I'm also having this issue. Is there really nothing possible? On my model the difference makes the head look 5x darker than the body under light, on an area that used to be a smooth transition: Those 2 parts were already connected on the original model, I made no changes.
  18. Is this still going to be released?
  19. Love this, only one issue! The arm of the robe tears away from the body during animation.
  20. This keeps asking for a .gla when one is in the folder. Can't get it to work.
  21. I can't upload it as I don't have permission from the author. I'll get it uploaded privately and send you a PM.
  22. I have the female scorpdeathknight model. It's only the females, not the male. Is someone wanting it sent to them?
  23. Checking that box in Assimilate worked! All the lighting is nice and smooth now, thank you so much! I would've never discovered that option on my own.
  24. Okay, a bit late on, but I finally got around to trying the assimilate options. I went to try what you said ANNDDD... nothing. Those options don't seem to exist in my Assimilate. I don't know if I have too old of a version or what. That or I'm just really not seeing where I'm supposed to find those options. Are there multiple versions of Assimilate?
