No no no. Not a raster layer. An RGB channel alpha layer. Find the window in Paint Shop Pro that shows you the red, green, and blue channels for the leaves raster layer, then add an alpha channel to it.
-
Welcome back, @@Asgarath83. Are you using Photoshop or GIMP for texturing? You need to add an "alpha" layer to the texture image, and paint the leaf white on that layer, while everything else surrounding it should be black. That way the game will know to show only the leaf, and make everything else completely see-through. Note that the "alpha" layer is added to the RGB (red, green, blue colour) channel layers, not the actual image layers. Edit: You basically need to turn your RGB PNG image into an RGBA TGA image. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_T5utHSSu5w

I think Gwendoline Christie is an excellent choice! She would sound intimidating in a trooper helmet. Hmm... this is giving me faith in the casting!

Very nice! Please do release them, @@Zappa_0. Do you have any shader effect on them at the moment? I may have a shader I made a long time ago that would suit this purpose well.

I really hope you're right, @@Xycaleth. But the points about the game development and moral implications of Valve's action made here are valid, too. Unfortunately we can't stop change. We'll need to adapt to whatever's coming. I can't help but think of the app stores with their in-game purchase content. That model is what this seems to be heading towards for me... It hasn't proven to be a very productive model in terms of content quality, actually... One thing is certain: making mods for money will never be as satisfying as making them freely from passion. Edit: And if you're already making a mod for money, why not step it up a notch and make a completely new game instead? One that you actually own, fully under your control, and without restrictions.

Roughly, yes. You will need to add the new texture image file as a "material" in Blender before you can apply it to the model. @@IrocJeff has just been through this in detail, so he can help you.

As far as I know the "UV Seam found! Split meshes in seams." error is a known bug/issue with Blender, and there's an easy fix for it. In any case, you're not far from having completed your project, so don't worry. I don't know much about Blender, so I can't help directly. @@mrwonko, I summon thee, too.

45% for the game studio is way too much, as well. The game studio is only offering limited rights to their IP, after all. It's all within defined boundaries. The content creator should be receiving the largest cut from the sales. If anything, it should be the other way around, to be fair: 75% for the mod-maker, 10% for the developer, and 15% for Valve. Valve is offering a distribution and promotion platform and service, the game developer is offering limited rights to their IP/product, and the modder is doing all the heavy lifting and new (sub-)product creation.

I'm guessing the plot was still in development, or it could have been a weaker episode. We all know The Clone Wars had those, too -- I'm looking at you, Mortis episodes. I'm sure Rebels will get better as time goes on, but I still feel it will never truly replace The Clone Wars. The ironic thing here is that I didn't actually like the prequel movies, and therefore wasn't interested in The Clone Wars series at first, yet what Dave's team did was true creative magic in that it captured my heart despite the fact that I didn't like the prequel plot and characters at all to begin with. I think it takes a rare gift and chance -- creative genius -- to achieve that. Personally, I won't miss the prequel era so much, but I will miss the themes and stories of The Clone Wars for a long time to come, I believe. A fan forever.

I can understand an up to 30% profit for Valve, because that's a standard publisher deal, but any more than that is just a plain rip-off... Even 30% is a lot, especially considering that the game developer needs a cut, too. 75% is plain ridiculous.
-
Well, seeing that Valve can dictate any terms they like as an exclusive platform publisher, they are free to do as they like with the games' modding world, too. I doubt many game studios and publishers will like this, but then again, they may have little choice if they wish to continue publishing and staying popular through Steam... On one end this is good (more higher production level game content), on the other bad (less freedom, and less free content). The bigger news is that such a move from a recognised publishing platform like Steam will draw the attention of other publishing outlets, too. If this is successful, we may be entering a new era in mod distribution.

"This is no wonderland, kid." In the days following my departure from the Jedi Order, Padme was kind to offer me a place to sleep in her apartment, but I quickly realised that I couldn't depend on her kindness forever, and that I would have to make do on my own. The thought of accidentally meeting Anakin or one of the other Jedi Masters again unnerved me, so I sought for a place to stay where I could afford one, and for work that I could do. Which lead me to a life in Coruscant's filthy and colourful underworld, where I had spent the longest and perhaps most challenging training period of my life. Nothing on the battlefield could prepare me for what I was to face here, among the common dirt and rubble, in the dark alleys beneath a glorious and vast city. ****

That's why we're a community. Different people with related, but different interests -- sharing what we love. That's what's great about a community!

An interesting move. I expect a percentage of the sales will go to Valve and the game studio for mod-sale approved games. Nevertheless, this sounds like an interesting new opportunity for mod-makers to be able to do more.

Not only does it ring nicer, it likely reflects the content of the new movie better, and being similar to A New Hope, it follows the simple titling tradition and marks it as a new chapter in the Star Wars saga -- just like the very first movie.

@@Onysfx Money money money... makes the world go round... The new execs wanted a new story. It's a crying shame. I just love it how they are ensuring the success of Rebels by tempting us with fragments from the Clone Wars characters and their stories included in the new series... I have nothing against Rebels, but it didn't have to be this way... And it's a big loss... Knowing Bane, it would have been a part of one of his unconventional and complex plans. He would have tempted them for a specific purpose, and probably going after a way bigger prize in the big picture. Pantora, Ventress, Quinlan, Boba, Ahsoka... there is so much content and creative ideas here. This show was ended way too prematurely. One of their best seasons was their last season completed (5). Rebels may be its own fun, but unfortunately it's not a replacement for The Clone Wars experience...

@@NumberWan's intel has not disappointed so far. Where's Cody?

Asajj Ventress meets Quinlan Vos:

I knew it!!! I knew they had intended to continue Ahsoka's story in Coruscant's underworld! I had actually started writing a piece of fan-fiction called "Ahsoka's Adventures in the Underworld," that deals with the 5 months she had spent living and surviving in what I'd call Coruscant's less than shiny districts, on her own. Love the new outfit, too! Also, that new Quinlan Vos outfit looks great! Man, why did they have to kill the show??! No fair! Edit: Hahaha! The Ventress/Vos scene is awesome, too! Wow, thanks for sharing this, @@NumberWan! This made my day!

I swear Star Wars: The Force Awakens should have been called Star Wars: A New Dawn. I mean, how much catchier does that read/sound? http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/A_New_Dawn

I'm guessing not much. Maybe a slight cameo or two.

Hmm... just watched the first season. Things make a lot more sense after watching the whole season, but the overall direction in Rebels is completely different to The Clone Wars, and you're kidding me guys, if you're saying that this stylised look is closer to reality than the one they used in TCW. In many ways this one looks way more exaggerated, but they are roughly on the same level in terms of overall stylisation (just in different features). Her voice is actually exactly the same as 16-year-old Ahsoka, but it's not so noticeable seeing as Rebels has a lot world details roughed out and lightheartedly shunned. It doesn't concern itself so much with lifelike world and plot details as much of The Clone Wars did. It's a fun series nonetheless, and I'm certain it will get deeper into more mature themes as the seasons progress. The reason for this being that the world of Star Wars unavoidably involves more adult themes. I still stand by most of my assessment on the new Ahsoka -- especially regarding her age -- but at least they got her speaking pattern right in the script to make it credible. Her new look, however, while way too different from her CW look (with the curvy montral/face patterns and all), actually fits the stylised look of Rebels, so I can't complain so much anymore. However, I still prefer her former look. It's the original, it fit her character better, and it just made more sense to me. It's quite amusing to see all these Clone Wars (and original trilogy characters) make a return appearance, and their role in the rise of the Rebels vs. Empire conflict. It was so horrible to see Master Luminara reduced to that... All in all, I look forward to seeing the confrontation between Ahsoka and her former Master, too. I hope they'll do justice to Vader's character, and to Ahsoka, too -- and their broken Padawan-Master relationship. And I look forward to seeing Rex, and the clones again. I don't think it was worth sacrificing The Clone Wars for Rebels, but Rebels is not so bad after all. Similar good character developments are happening in Rebels, too. I'm actually really interested in Kanan's and Hera's background stories. Edit: Sabine is just way too kickass! She speaks a gazillion languages, is a demolitions expert, a guns expert, and she's an artist, too? Sheesh... Talk about a superhero! I mean, I know she's Mandalorian, but come on! Hahaha! I wonder what her backstory is.

I bought a pair for really -- really -- cheap on eBay a while ago, and even this crappy make works, by assigning keyboard buttons to the controller's sticks and buttons. So I think it'll work, no matter what you buy. But it's better to go for something with a reasonable price and make.

It is quite ironic, actually, with the release of the sequels to the original trilogy, that some of the content that was closest to the original trilogy would be wiped now and replaced with content for up-to-date audiences. I still find it almost impossible to believe that the creators would do such a thing, and such an action would prove absolutely no loyalty towards the long-time fans of Star Wars. Jedi Academy is by far the worst title in the series. Dark Forces, when it came out, was an experience like no other. For the first time you were able to really walk through the world of Star Wars, and complete missions that were integral to the public, and feel like you were in a flesh and blood human body. Kyle Katarn was a handsome character who fit right in with the stories we know from the original trilogy, a mercenary of action and character. To this day, even with its pixellated graphics, Dark Forces provides some of the most authentic non-Jedi Star Wars action experience ever created in a Star Wars game, and the game is still highly enjoyable today, 20 years after its initial release! I take it, seeing the early pre-production stage of the movie project, that we are going by rumours when we are talking about the Death Star plans mission being changed. I think it would be wise for us to wait until the storyline/synopsis is confirmed before we jump to wild conclusions. It may be possible that the story of Dark Forces will not be affected by the new movie's content, and that in fact the new Rogue One movie will only expand on the stories that we already know, and approach things from a different angle. Who actually got the Death Star plans in the end is not so important as the actual, sophisticated operation that led to their possession, after all. Unless I am mistaken, we don't know enough about the movie yet to say that the story of Kyle will truly be erased from canon. And even if it happens, don't give up on your project, @@DT85. There's still a large audience for it, despite the canon changes.
