  1. Yeah, you really have to experience it to understand. The finale captures the spirit of the original trilogy in a completely fresh take. It's awe-inspiring. And TCW has expanded on the world of Star Wars so much that I can't stop referring to it as a resource to learn about Star Wars stuff. I honestly think that the new sequel films will not be worth as much as what The Clone Wars has given us. But we'll see... A note for when you're watching the series: the first season is quite childish and somewhat random, and things get more and more detailed and interesting as you dive into the later seasons. So don't expect too much from Season 1.
  2. Indeed it is, but isn't that a good thing? At least the spirit of Star Wars is kept alive.
  3. Infinity Blade's Dark Forces Kyle player model -- do we have it?

We should get it up in Files. That's a great model.

If someone else could that'd be better. I hardly ever turn on my computer now days. If not I'll try to, if I don't forget.

Do it for Infinity Blade's honour if you can. Thanks Katanamaru.

  4. Try finding all of HapSlash's models hosted on JKHub. Neither sorting by rating nor downloads helps. But I guess the sorting at least helps to filter things a little.
  5. But when it comes to searching the library, it will become more and more difficult to find new models over time. I'm already having difficulty finding all of HapSlash's work, for instance. I was thinking more along the lines of "lighter mods". You don't have to be a beginner to create a simple but fun recolor/reskin. In fact I have one (a Pantoran Jaden), and I've been hesitant to release it. I like this idea better. Instead of "demoting" smaller scale mods, we could promote the most distinguished/downloaded ones as main features? (Browsable separately?)
  6. Do you have the latest SDL2 library installed on your system?
  7. It looks like you've hit the retail JK3 limit for active Ghoul2 models (and their surfaces). OpenJK has this limit lifted to a higher number, that's why you'd need to spawn a lot more to hit its limit, but they both have a limit. (And OpenJK is not a mod, but an open source, more up-to-date release of JK3.)
  8. Make sure you select all the vertices in the horns and re-apply the UV map to them ("UVW map" in 3DS Max). You have a few vertices you've most likely added after you've set the UV mapping on the model. Or go into weight painting view and see if you can spot the odd vertices (without a colour) out.
  9. I suggest that small reskins, recolors, tweaks that are obviously not on the level of an full-blown, advanced mod should go into their own section in the file archives. I agree that everyone needs to start somewhere, and that we need to have an option for people to post the result of their first adventures into JK modding, but I also feel that the JKHub archives should be kept clean somehow of thousands of small reskins and recolors of the same skins. So I suggest that we file starters'/beginner's mods away as such (or "light mods") under their own category, and maybe include a filter in the search to include/exclude them depending on what the user is looking for. Not sure how difficult this would be to implement, but I do feel there's a need for this, lest our archives turn into the mess JK3Files has become over the years.
  10. Or you could simply try reinstalling Jedi Academy. But I still have a strong suspicion that this has to do with your system's permissions on those files being mucked up.
  11. @@Asgarath83 Oh, it definitely won't be as long as two weeks. I should have it for you in a few days, right after I release Ahsoka. Thanks for being patient. It really helps me to focus on one thing at a time.
  12. It would be interesting to see Disney start licensing out Star Wars to indie developers. So much new stuff could be made. Wishful thinking, I know...
  13. That's true, I haven't thought of that. I guess in many aspects you still can't beat the power and versatility of the PC for gaming. That means that if a new lightsaber combat game was to be released, it would need to be designed for the PC for it to potentially rival JK. That's not likely to happen knowing today's commercial trends...
  14. Not sure that you need a new model. Why not re-texture one of the default Jaden Rodians to female? I think it would work well. Say, this one for example: If you were to tweak anything, you would only need to tweak the width of the hips.
  15. I find it quite unbelievable how a better sword-fighting mechanic has not been created in any Star Wars game for all these years since Jedi Academy. The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels is crap, Kinect Star Wars is crap, and I heard even The Force Unleashed lacks in the lightsaber department.
  16. I think most of us are just hopping into whatever server is convenient. But there are clans and playing groups if you ask around, both playful competitive and role-playing. If you catch me playing (you'll find me most likely role-playing), I'm Cerez on server, too.
  17. I have a high suspicion that Tarkin was somehow involved in Letta's murder. The things he says to Ahsoka when she is found red-handed, it feels strange...

What's ironic about these episodes is how Ahsoka saved Tarkin and Barriss's lives, and they BOTH turned against her in the same story.

Yeah... There's a LOT of irony in these episodes. :P I think that's part the reason they're so intriguing. B)

  18. Dynamic glow can be a pain, yeah. Out of three computers I had JKA installed on, only one was able to run it. One graphics card didn't know it, the other ran it really resource heavy.
  19. Thanks. Getting real close. 9 steps away from release. I can hardly wait, too.
  20. Well, considering her tutelage and experience these skills actually make sense. A normal person doesn't go flying crazy vehicles, take part in battle meetings, engage in close combat, and try to fix broken engine parts -- all in a day's worth. Now repeat that at least 730 times. She would have learned something.
  21. In her own words: She is also a skilled pilot, martial artist, and war strategist. Due to Anakin's teachings and her natural practical aptitude, she also makes a great mechanic.
  22. That's a good point, and Wookiepedia makes a strong reference to the fact that when Jedi leave the Order, they are not exactly fit for the world around them. Their skills and experience are relevant mostly to serving the Order. That said, I can't see Ahsoka heading down a Dark Side path after her awakening during the Barriss incident. I think she would stay with Padme for a short time, then try to find accomodations in the Coruscant underworld, where it's cheaper to live -- seeing as she had left the Order with no possessions and no money. Eventually she'd find a job as a freelancing body guard, or bounty hunter of sorts. Over time she would let her Force powers atrophy (the same way Obi-Wan let his in hiding), since she wouldn't be using them so actively on a daily basis. That is if some drastic new events didn't influence her to take a more selfish move towards the Dark Side, to then find redemption for her own actions again by the time of Rebels. The intention of The Clone Wars team was to portray her exciting life and adventures as a skillful civilian in the underworld life of Coruscant. Think along the lines of Boba Fett's life, except on the good side and as an ex-Jedi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEbWuGMJMxA

    JK3Files Shuts Down

It's had a great long run. JK3Files will remain in my memory forever. I think we should be thankful for the service and resource they've provided over so many years. We are indeed lucky for the hard work accomplished here on JKHub to preserve the best of the JK modding community content. Rest in peace, JK3Files. You've lived a long and meaningful life, worthy of your cause.
  24. If we're going to launch a torrent, it needs to be promoted around the net. Otherwise we'll end up with a poor download performance and a torrent that will die out pretty quick. Past JK3Files users need to know about the availability of this torrent for it to work. On the other hand a browsable simple online directory of these mods would probably be more effective, and remain lowcost to maintain (~$100/year). Crowdfunding? However, the legal question remains with both these options. The fact is that this would be done without the authors' permissions. The authors agreed to have their files hosted on JK3Files, not elsewhere. I'm not sure that everyone would be happy to see their mods transferred to another site/location without their knowledge. Edit: Perhaps if the online directory had a take-down option? But being an active JK3Files user for all these years, I would have to completely agree with @@Circa in that the process of selection here at JKHub has been great, and that not many quality mods will be lost when the JK3Files content is wiped. JKHub has grown into an excellent resource, and a sort of filter for all the junk (less prominent, beginners' creative mods) that has grown to clutter JK3Files over the years. It's a worthy successor for the JK modding community.
  25. Thanks for reading. You can talk about stuff-ups in culture without being a political activist. She makes some very good points about marketing cultural and marketing stupidities that lead to confusion in women's lives. Men are also affected by these marketing stupidities in their image of a woman as they are growing up. It's great to see that now there is a greater range of female roles in Star Wars. In many ways we can thank The Clone Wars for that, as well as recent cultural evolution and awareness. Personally, I want to see more kickass heroines. Let them be women, and let them be good at what they're interested in. Let's not put them all into slave clothes and exhibit them as barbie dolls. They're human, and deserve a chance to prove themselves, too. And sometimes it's an amazing when this is done well in a story. Just as Indiana Jones is a man with unique qualities that make him charming and exceptional in his field, so can a female character excel with her unique personal qualities in her chosen field.
