  1. I have a high suspicion that Tarkin was somehow involved in Letta's murder. The things he says to Ahsoka when she is found red-handed, it feels strange...

What's ironic about these episodes is how Ahsoka saved Tarkin and Barriss's lives, and they BOTH turned against her in the same story.

      Cerez

Yeah... There's a LOT of irony in these episodes. :P I think that's part the reason they're so intriguing. B)

I hope this model makes it into MBII, I'm sure it probably will :).

  3. Skin shading in Photoshop is killing me... >.<' I'd take modelling over texturing anyday!

No, I've watched many tutorials, but I've taken a mosaic approach now -- cutting and assembling a rough draft before painting the final textures. It's a pain in the butt, but it's the easiest way I could think of. I really want to finish this model already...

I imagine working with ZBrush is somewhat easier.

Or substance Painter which is what I use :

it takes some technical knowdledge to adapt the output PBR maps to JKA's old shader system

I used Pig Brain's tutorial when I did my head, but I guess the basic principles could apply to the rest of the body.

Let's all learn from this...NEVER call Ventress "Honey".

  5. The Mortis episodes have got to be the absolute worst episodes of The Clone Wars. Such trivial melodrama! It makes me nauseous! Uegh!!

  6. 90-year-old, gramps Han Solo: "Chewie, we're home! ... Chewie?" Jaina Solo: "Dad, Chewie's not around anymore." Han: "Oh... I forget..." :P

Yep, that's it! I didn't want to say it, but that's what happened. Dark_apprentice is right! :)

There were just too many of them... ;)

And Chewie could not resist their "hoodiini" call, so he took off on his own after them.

It's a sad tale of love and loss.

They should have given chewie a grey highlight like they did Data in latter movies.

  7. It's going to take a while, guys. I've still much to go with the textures. I don't want to release her before she's ready...

  8. Finally finished with rigging. Onto the textures...

It's the hardest thing I've ever done on a computer. I'm not kidding.

      Wystan

It's only the fist time, colonel Adrian was not my first model so was hard but extremely. When i was rigging my first model, i've had a nice issue - when he did the saberthrow animation, his finger length extended a lot.

  9. What's the deal with caps? How do I UV Map them, so that the stormtrooper caps texture will appear on them properly?

.skin files don't always point to basic image files Archangel, in this case it points to a shader, my AT-ST does the same thing. The referenced path in the .skin file doesn't point to a physical file but rather something the game creates. There are no images in models/players/atst/

Hapslash told me this gem back in the day: "Just do a quick UVW planar map on the cap mesh"

    4. Cerez

      Cerez

Worked like a charm! Didn't need to add any materials, just a UVW map modifier with the planar layout setting, as ol' Haps said. (As well as the texture/shader defined for the caps in the SKIN file.) Thanks guys! :glad:

  10. Getting close to finishing the weighting now. Wow... that was laborious... And I thought modeling was the hard part... >.<'

Maybe you're just like that all the time. It was 2 or I think this is the third time but not sure, when you replied something the way you did. I just wanna give you a nice advice; the world is full of idiots and haters, try not to be like them. If you can't say something nice, it's better to say nothing at all. Just my humble opinion.

  11. Rigging: JKA 3D Engine: 5, Me: 4. It's still winning, and butchering my model in the process... More weight refinements to do...

  12. Big kudos to anyone who's ever rigged a character model to work properly in the game! I don't understand how the Raven team could put up with this process...

I think they used a combination of XSI & 3ds Max, but XSI was their primary software.

haha, that's only the first time - it gets easier once you've done it a couple of times - just call out for me in your WIP Thread if you are really stuck

  13. It seems to me that Blender and 3DS Max are very similar in UI design. Perhaps Blender got its inspiration from one of the founding fathers of all 3D modeling software? Silo is a completely different user experience.

    4. Boothand

      Boothand

True, Blender is confusing for menu people. There are many things I don't know how to find only with the mouse, but which I can find in a hotkey menu.

Thanks, if I really get stuck, I'll take you up on that. Asgarath is kindly helping me learn the process with 3DS Max at the moment. I have a pretty complicated human-like model, so it's not going to be easy...

    3. AshuraDX

      AshuraDX

the clsoer to a human it is the easier it will be to rig :D (atleast to the humanoid skeleton)

    4. Cerez

      Cerez

Oh, that's good. But I'll need to rig the face, too. We'll see... I expect a challenge.

"O Oysters, come and walk with us!"

      The Walrus did beseech.

"A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk,

      Along the briny beach:

We cannot do with more than four,

To give a hand to each."

    3. Kessno

      Kessno

"It seems a shame," the Walrus said,

"To play them such a trick,

After we've brought them out so far,

And made them trot so quick!"

      The Carpenter said nothing but

      "The butter's spread too thick!"

    4. Cerez

      Cerez

      Four other Oysters followed them,

      And yet another four;

And thick and fast they came at last,

And more, and more, and more--

All hopping through the frothy waves,

      And scrambling to the shore.
