Cosmos Clanmap [UN-Abandoned Project] pk3 and source
MUG replied to MUG's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
1 - no clan to use it any more 2 - it will be a nightmare to fix it enough. If people really like it, this version IS useable, if a little laggy. If people absolutely demand it, I might take a shot at fixing the blasted thing xD -
edit: After making this post I have now decided to attempt to fix the map. Anyone is welcome to assist, and permission to use content from it still stands. Last night I was larking around with @@Averus Retruthan and ended up revisiting the old clanmap myself and @@Sef Senatu were working on back in cosmos. It sadly never got completely finished, and had serious fps problems that I was never proficient enough to resolve myself. Despite that, it was a pretty cool map so I figured I would post the near-finished compile we had (complete with awful fps and a few bugs) as well as the .map files if anyone wishes to borrow parts of it / maybe even have a go at making it compile in a more working manner. Click for a ton of screenshots (so many its impractical for me to post them here, so have an imgur album) If you want to use a part of the map feel free, but be sure to credit myself and @@Sef Senatu , and preferably lets us know. The furniture around and including the TV in the lounge is by @@MagSul so you will have to ask him if you want to use it. Other resources (textures, models, sounds etc) are not all ours, so ask me here or in pm before using anything other than contents of the .map file. Map PK3 - https://www.dropbox.com/s/hox1qxmcb6c3yrb/zzzzzzz_cosmos_map_resourses.pk3 .MAP Source File - https://www.dropbox.com/s/5tdnn85bl9m79mf/cosmosa473.7z (you will need the pk3 too for textures etc) There are a few secrets and a lot of crazy entity chains that mappers will probably find if they take a look, you may even find them exploring. Oh to start the map type /devmap cosmos_a473m in the console. Not sure if its in the menu.

Personally, I suspect I will be most helpful on rough area brushwork, to get the basis of a room or two down rather than focusing on details, but I could potentially also add a few details here and there too. As for when, i think basically any time after the first week of February will work for me. Also: Everyone involved can just follow the thread. You get an alert whenever there is a post in it.

Sounds like it could work to me.

So yeah: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9HcH16rnQ4 I even did some awkward drums for this one xD

No really, these people make me feel insecure about my mapping skill levels xD Theme wise, A Yavin/academy map is always easy, but done to death these days so probably one to steer clear of. London streets/cathedral stuff sounds interesting if tricky to make. As for a SW location, I honestly can't think of anything less interesting to make xD. I think whatever we go with, it should be completely original, to leave room for people to use their imagination.
-
I may be a little late to the party, but I could potentially help out with some of the mapping. I'm no where near as good as most of the other mappers in this thread, but i could most likely contribute something or other.
-
that's just their loss, as noone will read it.

Hey ho. Welcome to the hub, hope to see your mod show up in downloads soon =P

I think It'd be neat, however, that sounds like it would overlap with the current tutorials section. If you do decide to do it, you should either move tutorials over to the wiki (I'm assuming you are intending a media wiki?) or just add more page types like the tutorials to the existing system. also: When you have a wiki, you can basically allow a page for anything even nearly relevant, regardless of importance.

Two improvements to uploading / reviewing.
MUG replied to RancorSNP's topic in JKHub Feedback & Help
As I can read Caelum's thoughts, allow me to answer for him xD (I reserve the right to be completely wrong) Suggestion 1 - Won't be possible due to limitations of the forum software back-end, and isn't all that nescecary. If you want to have a different rating for a good map and an almost perfect map, use 3 and 4 stars. that leaves 1 and 2 stars for "bad", and "meh". Suggestion 2 - Again, software back-end will make this extremely difficult or impossible. Even then, the reviews aren't just for the benefit of the modder, they are mainly for the people downloading it so they can judge if they want to download it or not. As such, allowing the modder to disallow reviews means that people wont be able to see what is good/bad about the file which would make the downloads section generally less useful. -
Adding accessories to a model without having to reweigh it.

If you finish this you should get in touch with razor and try and get it built in to ja++ =P That would be incredibly awesome. -
Here's something I bet you didn't know.
MUG replied to eezstreet's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
What a lot of people don't realise is that a lot of the mapping work in jka was subcontracted out to another company, most notably, nearly all the MP maps. I think that's a big part of the reason that the mapping in jka is poor. -

MUG replied to Kualan's topic in Modding Assistance
Aye, as said, it's impossible. However, I've been saying for ages that someone should make a mod which allows you to load multiple models at once, and use meshes from any of them. That would let you do just this. Sadly no one seems keen on doing it xD. -
You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?

Oh America. -

I know otherwise. Caelum's birth prophesied the coming of Tenticlaws, and the death of our sun. -

Tomorrow marks the start of Double Onemass. At the point where tomorrow ends, Tenticlaws will be born as the sun goes out, marking the start of the Decimal Calendar and the Kiloday 1 ABC. I hope that you will all join me in celebrating Onemas on Oneday the first of Oneuary (or to use the current (and soon outdated) calendar, this Friday the 21st) -
By request, I've just released a small update to Base Customisation Complete which includes a text label in the menu for each new custom species added. If you want that to work, go ahead and grab it here and make sure that it has more Zs in the pk3 name than any other customisation mod you might have installed. (This is due to an unavoidable issue where each mod replaces the list of species names instead of adding to it. The Zs make sure that this overwrites all other changes to the menu text) Super Thread-cromacy!

Looking at this game's duel/siege maps, and the new saber types, my guess is that the multiplayer for JKA was originally going to be closer to movie battles, with lots of film events. Largely, it seems that they were focusing on episode I stuff, what with the staff sabers, and the maul duel map, but the game has lots of indications that it was modelled more closely after the films than previous JK games (what with kyle not being the main character, luke being more central, the Bryar being swapped out for a gun similar to the one Han Solo uses in the original trilogy). I guess that Yoda and the Emperor were just another part of that vision that never happened, in favour of a more jk2-like multiplayer.

Have been considering doing that actually. Stay tuned =P
