  1. ogg plz is good free software open format free for all 2 use is good I swear
  2. As an aside, I find it hilarious that people get butthurt and then claim that their butthurt-causer is the one that's actually butthurt. what?
  3. It is. The textures are just different and it uses different models. They retextured it in such a way that the map looks like t3_rift, which looks utterly ridiculous. Furthermore, they put Kyle in Jedi robes for that scene, which is utterly stupid since Kyle was very fearful of all things Jedi-related and in fact never considered himself a Jedi. I'm kinda losing faith in this project very quickly since they aren't following the source material very well at all. Furthermore, the only "original" assets are just frankensteined models with no thought behind them.
  4. do you even have any threads though
  5. Also, yeah, that looks like a shit retexture of the Valley of the Jedi. Not a decompile, just dumb.
  6. The irony is when you consider that Epic Games made the Unreal Engine. So yes, I suppose it would be rather Epic.
  7. sorry, but stuff like this bothers me: http://jkhub.org/topic/3347-wip/ and you aren't one of the people I'm talking about, @@ChalklYne

  9. Indeed, and ignoring is useless as they come from tons of different people.
  10. Okay, my bad. They're not allowed if it's found to be a port. Slightly different wording but my point still stands.
  11. All I'm saying is that we tend to get sidetracked in threads, and it may be more of a detriment than simple fun. As for harassment - every time I made the suggestion that a requester give references, they'd usually PM me and tell me they put references in the thread. And then continually ask me when I'm going to work on their request. I was away for a weekend one time and I had 7+ PMs from one guy who kept repeating himself - "Hi, I put references in the thread" It isn't any one person that harrasses me in general though, it's this forum as a whole. I get constantly bombarded with ridiculous PMs that either a) should be threads or b) can be solved with a simple Google. Or in contrast, I get requested to do mods for people. I guess someone will say - "Hey, you should be happy, these people come to you specifically for help or their requests instead of asking everyone" - Besides this argument being flawed (If everyone made a thread perhaps they could use search and I wouldn't have to repeat myself, right?), I simply don't have time to reply to every single PM or take up every request. In lieu of telling people repeatedly "Maybe you should do this yourself? It's a one line edit, and everything you need to make the edit is on the Hub already", I've disabled PMs entirely.
  12. Not really? You said yourself that you remove ports automatically, I believe. That's not the same stance at all.
  13. All I'm saying is that I think the amount of sheer offtopicness and questionable decisions is really damaging this site's integrity. I can't go a day without seeing immaturity ruin threads.while I'm perfectly ok with some threads being a little off topic at times, there are truly tons of times where it would be much better suited for the nonsense forum. And then of course there's harrassments and stuff like that which I had to eventually disable my PMs over. I have a feeling that the staff just can't enforce their rules well enough. I feel like they aren't as tough as they could be.
  14. JKH shifts the responsibility onto the uploader, so I still have no idea what the problem is. You can either choose to say nothing and do nothing, or you can take action and remove all content with illegal stuff in it. It's a double standard to do what it is that's being done now. This is a Star Wars community; having content which is legally owned by LucasFilm being used repeatedly in sounds, skins, etc and yet these files are up, and widely shared/exported. If you choose to do nothing about a porting situation, then you should truly do nothing about it. @@Kualan that kinda implies several things though, and you could always rework things so that the rules state the following: "While our staff will not remove content which is ported, doing so puts the uploader at their own risk." * sorry if that was highly incoherent, Thursdays are truly awful for me.
  15. Except Google doesn't outright ban the content..
  16. You're missing the point of what I'm saying. The _downloader_ does not need to know that the uploader acknowledges the rules. It's kinda assumed that they "acknowledged" the rules, otherwise the site wouldn't host the file...so why even display that to a downloader if it's always going to be "Yes"? It's wasted screen real-estate as far as I'm concerned. And what's wrong with that? I usually write a simple readme like that too because I CBA, especially for simple PK3s. We have already shifted the responsibility of the file on the uploader, but that isn't always the answer, as Futuza said. Could end up being really messy. So what's the problem? You've shifted the responsibility onto the uploader. How could that wind up being messy? Oh? Because all I see is just a reworded rehash of the same thing. It says "Illegal content will be removed if our moderators find it" <-- this isn't the same thing as what I said at all, and it seems you weren't paying attention to a word I've said. Semi ported content = ok All ported content = not ok current rule, unchanged: ported stuff is not okay period Yet we still have skins with ripped sounds. We still aren't allowed to use ported meshes with modified textures. This rule is fundamentally broken and nobody seems to understand this. Hats off to this thread for making me actually agree with Ory'Hara for once. tl;dr version - "I don't comprehend what you're saying but I'm going to defend the Hub's actions!?!"
  17. You have to set the FLYING flag on them.
  18. Put my argument in the OP.
  19. This site and its staff are kinda ridiculous. The amount of off-topic bullshit that allows to occur in threads has reached maximum capacity, and people seem to be under the impression that the rules don't exist at all. I've seen blatant disrespect from people, frequent thread hijacking, and various other nonsense. Various people (it's more than one, and I'm not listing names because frankly, I don't feel like having this thread being fucking derailed like a million others) have caused threads to be pointlessly derailed, and yet the staff does absolutely nothing about it. No slap on the wrist. Remember when Ory'Hara was banned? I do. Does anyone remember that? It seems like the staff has their priorities all wrong. Instead of focusing on getting the community stable, we see voting on new backgrounds, "featured pictures", asinine tutorial categories, "tutorial days", and all kinds of other random crap getting thrown around, instead of enforcing the rules. And I mean, what about the Porting Discussion? The community brought up very valid points to the moderators, and everyone more or less agreed on one set of rules, only for the staff to just slightly rewrite their rules. I remember a discussion long ago (before JKH launched even) where people discussed the possibility of the nonsense (at the time it was called the Spam Forum) forum leaking out into other areas of the forum and causing people to become disgusted with the site. Does anyone else remember that?
  20. Original discussion went nowhere, staff just reworded the same rules. Like this post if you agree, we need to reach a different conclusion. My original point still stands. Ported material is okay, so long as the entirety of the project doesn't consist of a port. (Ported model with different texture = okay; a mod consisting entirely of ripped music = bad) If a company submits a claim against JKHub for the offending content, whatever legal penalties are incurred on the uploading party, not on the Hub itself. Remove "Acknowledged Rules" section of download page (Always "yes" so what's the point of telling the downloader this?) Remove lots of the required readme sections (don't include a template, it just confuses people)
  21. /me should stop reading this thread before getting ideas
  22. Aha, thank you for the clarification.
  23. ? Surfaceparms are used at runtime, not at compile, aren't they? So they ought to be irrelevant to vis/lighting and instead baked into the geometry.
