Atranoth Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 A Jedi Enclave/Militia Academy Map I am working on (Haven't Given it a name yet) I am working on the FFA and Duel version at same time. Entrance Of Temple: Tiny Version of Graveyard(This is for the Duel Version of map) : Entrance of Temple: Inside OF temple (These may not be the same textures on the inside when I am done): Inside of temple door exit: z3filus and Bek like this
IrocJeff Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 In the first image make the stone floor grassy texture only on the bottom. Then, re-texture those parts with your grass texture. That't look a bit neater. I'd also add some elevation to the grassy areas. You can use this method here and it works really well. http://jkhub.org/tutorials/article/92-hand-shaped-terrain/page-2. I'd re-do the temple front cause its kinda flat. Take whatever idea you have in your head for the temple and then take a peek at google images for temples. See what you like, what you don't like, and what your vision for your temple is, and try to work it all together.
Ramikad Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Agree with all IrocJeff said. One more couple of suggestions: use a grass sprite shader for the texture, and improve the water: http://jkhub.org/tutorials/article/62-realistic-water/I'd extend IrocJeff's suggestion to interiors too.
Atranoth Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 Please notethat the grassy areas are ment to be flat I will have other places in the map like this. the enclave/militia/graveyard area was flattened before the Builders built it. Also I can't get the wavy/see through effect for the water. Another thing the temple is not even close to being done I have much in mind trust me, this will take a while. Just thought I should share. Ramikad Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Also I can't get the wavy/see through effect for the water. Hmm. Did you follow the tutorial correctly, and did you add the new shader in the shaderlist.txt file?
IrocJeff Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Yeah, a grass shader would be good. That'd give it some depth. What I meant on the elevation was just like a few units up here and a few units down. That would give some depth to it. i didn't mean make rolling hills or anything.
Vulcan Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I'd say grab a pencil and paper and draw some scenes! I'm currently mapping too, and noticed it's sometimes best to stop working on radiant and think about what techniques and designs you like to use. When you have a design that goes from teacup to mountain you get great maps I'm currently making a design for a forest so I have to design the floor plants, small ferns, bushes, small trees and big trees for example ofc that's modeling and photoshopping mostly, but the same applies to architecture.
z3filus Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 To make it look more impressive, keep the front wall flat. Or add some detail to itas IrocJeff suggested. are those hologram bases final? Instead of brown rock, you could use the flag_base , see image below. And Im sorry for an off topic question; that standing animation looks cool, where can I get it from?
Atranoth Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 The animations are called clone wars stances v6 I took out the saber replacements And they are graves not holograms.
Atranoth Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 UPDATE!!!! Made the entrance room of the temple bigger. made side rocks to add detail. z3filus likes this
z3filus Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Looks massive, I like how you are facing the moon when standing infront of the Temple's maindoor. Will you add trees?
z3filus Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Any progress? Will u add something in the water aswel? Statues perhaps.
Atranoth Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 Update!!!! You can faintly see statues at the entrance
Asgarath83 Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Cools! can you set a better texture for outside wall brick of the temple? How many room you wanna put inside? However it's really cool
Atranoth Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 Like I said when I first posted.... These textures aren't the finished It depends on the theme of the temple.
Barricade24 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The vegetation is certainly a nice touch. Although a lot of the map seems very boxy. Although it is unlikely this is the final version. Anyway curious to see where this goes.
Vulcan Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Could use some shadows! Thought about creating your own sunlight sky shader?
