Tempust85 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Good extensions to use for normal maps: _n or _nrm. Using an "s" for normal maps can confuse people into thinking it's a specular map. Archangel35757 and Omicron like this
Mandalorian Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Thankyou. I will try it out, rend2 kills my computer a bit but it looks great.
Boothand Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Actually I get stuck forever in "Starting up..." with the latest rend2 (got latest OpenJK and the redistributables mentioned). But I'm not in a hurry.
DarthStiv Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Er, sorry for such a silly question, but I wonder if you can post a link to the latest Rend-2 build?-I really want to re- edit my Kotorpack with the bumpmupping...
Xycaleth Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I can upload an updated version tonight. I've started introducing changes to require newer graphics cards (anything from the past 5 years should work) so people who could run it before might find they can no longer run it. If you can't, please let me know what error message you get and also what graphics card you have Mandalorian and Tempust85 like this

Xycaleth Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Here's a download link to the latest rend2: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/874909/rd-rend2_x86.zip So the only changes I've made are fixes to dynamic glow. And like I said before, I've upped the requirements a bit. If you have problems running rend2 now, please report the error message you're getting and the graphics card you're using! Archangel35757 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 @@Xycaleth -- what Shader model version is required to be supported by the graphics card now?
Xycaleth Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 4, but like I said earlier in this thread (I think?), shader model versions only apply to Direct3D.
Tempust85 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Updated to the latest rend2 fork code, compiled as release and placed everything where it needs to go. I then downloaded and placed this new rend2 dll. Now everytime I run openjk, it crashes upon startup.

Mandalorian Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I noticed that the first time for me it crashed and some maps it freezes while loading then crashes, besides that it works for me and looks great, amazing work !

Archangel35757 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 @@Xycaleth -- I humbly request rend2 normal mapping be incorporated into the ModView C++ source code so that we can pre-visualize normal mapping on Ghoul2 characters and vehicles (from within ModView)... I suppose the same request could be made for the MD3View C++ source code as well. Pretty Please... Stoiss likes this
Tempust85 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 That also requires a light source to be added. Someone really needs to merge md3view into modview.
Xycaleth Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 That also requires someone to code the changes And it seems like it's only me at the moment.
Tempust85 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Maybe you should get really really full so you can split into two Xycaleth's
Boothand Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 While Xycaleth worked on rend2, Boothand in secrecy, having in fact stolen several recent hairs from Xycaleth's arm, worked on a cloning device which would provide an army of developers, from mere DNA extracts + breakfast cereals, every full moon. Mandalorian Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 ok it crashes on kotor flight school. Could just be me. I'll have to test it more and remember the names of the other maps it crashes on. The nose of the rebel pilot stretches out like the luke model. Is there going to be a sp version of rend2?
Boothand Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I still get stuck on "Starting up...", although it could be specific for my laptop computer. The one I usually use is out of reach for some months. AMD ati drivers.

Szico VII Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Mine is also now crashing on startup with the most recent build Xycaleth posted.
