Lamented Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 XD So I was watching Pewdiepie's prop hunt videos and I was jealous because I wish I could play something like that--it looked so funny and interesting! What if someone was able to make a game mode out of this and remake Prop Hunt in a JKA fashion, using all of the regular JKA assets? I, for one, think that would be hillarious and a better way to have fun with other people. Who knows? Maybe a server named "JKHub - Prop Hunt" could be made later in the future! Honestly, I think everyone on JKHub is awesome and I'd love to see all of you ingame with just the kind of activity. Thank you for those who considered this! therfiles, Omicron and Fuse294 like this
Futuza Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) Hmmm...this looks hillarious. Don't think it would be too difficult to pull off either. Edited September 27, 2013 by Darth Futuza Omicron likes this
Tempust85 Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I think bounding boxes would be the biggest bitch here, but don't quote me on that. eez or someone would know more about that.
RebelChum Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Seems like it wouldn't achieve the same effect as Garry's Mod because JKA lacks physics on objects. Finding the "props" would be very easy.
hleV Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I find Prop Hunt boring in Garry's Mod. But then I find Trouble in Terrorist Town boring as well even though it's the most popular mode, so I guess I don't count for much.
Lamented Posted September 27, 2013 Author Posted September 27, 2013 D; So making objects compatible for a JKA prop hunt is impossible? I figured that since they released the source code...
Onysfx Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Lol this would be hilarious! But we would need custom maps with lots of npcs spawned randomly, with their models as crates and barrels. Lamented likes this
Lamented Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 XD Or we could always use the already-made maps in jka. No? Didn't think so. At least mp/ffa5, that map would be nice for prop hunt XD
Tempust85 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 A new map would be required considering most prop-looking objects are actually brushes.
Lamented Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 I see... So without any physics for the objects--so to say it isn't possible--a Prop Hunt wouldn't work?
Tempust85 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 It could, but it would be piss poor compared to Garry's mod.
Lamented Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 Still would be nice to have a JKA Prop Hunt with everyone on JKHub
Lamented Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 Imagine hitting chairs with lightsabers all day...
Onysfx Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 It is possible and it can be done. We would just need a lot of props that's all. And they would have to spawn randomly so the hunters couldn't memorize where everything is.
Fighter Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 There are a lot of Gmod mods that would be nice in JKA, Prop Hunt and TTT in particular. I remember discussing with @@Astral Serpent possibly doing TTT last year I think, but we felt it would likely be too difficult, at least for our abilities code-wise. Nevertheless maybe if I get the chance, I could try to do something, but no guarantees.
Lamented Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 Thanks, Fighter. Also, how's Open RP going?
Fighter Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Good. Recently put up some fixes and such: link. Lamented likes this
