CrimsonStrife Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 As I think @@Szico VII is learning, I get easily distracted...although in my defense...this little spurt led to me deciding on a chair design for his map that isn't so...blocky... but that is not built yet... This is will be a series of WIPs...and I dunno that it will go in-game, which is why I am making this thread here...I am still to used to working in a stronger engine, and as such the head is roughly 1,000 polys and not quite done. But, made this today, while recovering from my 24-hour gaming charity stream <.< And now, I go to bed...I have slept about 4 hours in the past 2 days, and I have class in 5 hours <.< CaptainChar likes this
therfiles Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Looking really good! It looks very familiar, what is it based off of?
CrimsonStrife Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Liara_T'Soni
CrimsonStrife Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 Asari Head done basically aside from textures...just wrapped up the UVs. It is still around 800 faces...so if I were to bring it in-game I would have to separate the face from the head. Azatha and Garyn Dakari like this
CrimsonStrife Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Hand painting the texture in Mudbox....this will be my very first 100% hand painted texture =O also...moving this to modding section... CaptainChar, Azatha, Garyn Dakari and 1 other like this
minilogoguy18 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 The nose could use some more shape, mainly the nostrils can be a bit wider and rounder.
CrimsonStrife Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 Actually it was a bit off overall from Liara's face. Inyri pointed some things out I am fixing.
Cloud Senatu Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Either way its looking really great!Nicely done so far.
CrimsonStrife Posted October 26, 2012 Author Posted October 26, 2012 Edits to the jawline, nose, and cheek bones, also lowered the eyes and adjusted the overall width of the head, to better fit that of Liara,also...texture changes...Not sure if I am happy with this state yet, sorry for the blockyness...coming straight from Mudbox to Maya does that to it, I'll fix it's display settings in Max later.
Akimoto Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I must admit, the first thing that crossed my mind was However, it is good. Cloud Senatu and CaptainChar like this
CrimsonStrife Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 Why are you using both Max and Maya???I prefer the extrusion tools in maya and the rigging in max.
CaptainChar Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 you Know Aki, when i saw first conact after playing mass effect, i never noticed the design >.>; but more mass effect stuff, yes...
CrimsonStrife Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 sooo I didn't think this would see light of day...and it still may not...but I have to build a character and texture it for one of my finals before I graduate....and Liara was the choice I made...soo here is what I have after working today... She is a bit sloppy...but I only have a few days to do this, and it is for a texture class not a modeling class. CaptainChar likes this
CaptainChar Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 its better then no Liara, although its amazing to see the actual model next to the textures and smoothing process, hard to believe what is under the skin so to speak
Milamber Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Looks good imo. I noticed it seems her arms above the elbow seem to distort(direct front view) somewhat though, apart from that can't really see anything that's really off

I noticed it seems her arms above the elbow seem to distort(direct front view) somewhat though, apart from that can't really see anything that's really off There is actually supposed to be an armor pad there...which is why they are shaped kinda funny, to make room for it...I just didn't add it on yet...it was late and time to sleep lol.
minilogoguy18 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Body looks great IMO, I should learn some self restraint when making heads, I always go overboard on polies, yours has just enough for a JA model.

Milamber Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 In that case I don't really have anything to point out ^^ go for it. Texture it, get a good grade, add it to jka, go go xD
CrimsonStrife Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 I'm working on the UV Mapping today...or will be if I can stop being distracted.
CrimsonStrife Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 errr...well I did the head completely in like a day...and that was build, uv, sculpt and painting in mudbox....but then the whole deal got shelved for a bit..The body...has probably been about 6 or 7 hours spread over a couple days as I really couldn't get any solid time to work on it. But at the same time..that estimation includes time I was distracted by random shit...soo hard to judge.
CrimsonStrife Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 UV Map done...gonna start texturing.
