dotXSI 3.0/3.5 Importer for 3ds Max / Gmax
Archangel35757 replied to Archangel35757's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
1 more down... 5 to go: SI_Model SI_Transform SI_Mesh SI_Shape SI_TriangleList SI_FCurve -
Are the poor shadows you're referring to the very aliased shadow cast on the ground by the left star-fighter? Or the backside of Kyle? Is there anyway to run a Gaussian Blur and an AA filter on the aliased star-fighter shadow so it's not so blocky?
-
Worked on this a little bit today... and will work on it again tomorrow evening after work... like @@minilogoguy18 said-- front and side references can only get you so far... so I'm using other image orientations I have for her to try and ensure the face has the proper contours. I'm just using the Editable Poly's "Vertex Paint Deformation" feature to do the sculpting directly in 3ds Max for now... primitive but it seems to be working okay.
-
Getting there... maybe you could share your code snippet for misc_model_ghoul with @@ensiform and/or @@Xycaleth... so they can help find the source of the problem (pun intended).

character HUMANOID SKEL PLAYER: Kyle Katarn
Archangel35757 replied to Tempust85's topic in Dark Forces II Mod
Try rendering a camera viewport with FOV = 40mm or 50mm... suppose to be close to what the human eye FOV is... -
Maybe you're missing something in hooking in the shadow code for it? Maybe @@Xycaleth can help?
-
So you can't give it a property to make it cast shadows?

Continuing to work on the Maxscript dotXSI importer... 20 of 28 total templates (for v3.0 and v3.5 support) are complete! Saving hardest for last... even if a template type is not needed/used it must still be handeled for skipping over. -
Awesome work DT!

I just said that earlier. And I see no reason (if he's alive) why Ezra couldn't appear in 7, 8, or 9. -

...and Ezra Bridger should still be around-- he'd be close to Luke's age, yes? And if he doesn't get killed off in "Rebels" ...do you think he'll have a part in 7, 8, or 9? -

Could Max von Sydow's character be Kanan Jarrus? Sort of like Kira's protector at first? -
@@Psyk0Sith @@DT85 @@Oobah @@eezstreet -- we should all collaborate and work together... define a common set of goals and cloth bones (for specific/unique cloth GLAs) that would cover: robes, capes, tunics, sleeve ends, etc. You can speed up your cloth Sims by putting a Blur transform cache controller on the original humanoid bones (it acts similar to point cache modifier for vertex animated objects).

Could you create a screen capture video and post it for viewing?

The saber blade texture image/alpha.
-
@@Rooxon -- what you can't see is my computer monitor and the transparency settings that show the eyes matching/overlaying the reference photos very nicely in both the front and side views. The lips are modeled to match the side, relaxed pose... and are not finished. It's still a work in progress.

But wouldn't be the same image/alpha?

How did that Ragnos Sith scepter workthat Tavion wielded in jKA? I believe this is JJ Abram's inception of a "Fire Blade" http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fire_blade -

To make it look like "rippling fire" is what is so absurd to me! Even Darth Siduous, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, and the Inquisitor had/have proper lightsaber blades. In KOTOR did they ever have such a blade? I think not... @@DT85 -- I strongly believe it's Adam Driver... from his lanky walk and how he stepped when igniting that atrocious "sword" -- Ever noticed how Driver's nose looks similar to the Inquisitor's? -
Those goggles are not the official ones... but the official ones seem a bit cheap as well (...if they're suppose to be infrared goggles): I may make a tweak on them and put an LED-type infrared light in center above eyes...

@@NumberWan -- I don't believe Adam Driver is Jonah (Han and Leia's son)... earlier rumors said it was Oscar Isaacs and he was the one piloting the X-wing. I believe Driver is the black-robed Sith we see with the suckass saber... because of his lanky walk... and the movies I've seen him in. -
Here's a side-by-side shot of the current WIP and her original front view picture (scaling between the two is not exact): Criticism of the nose is valid... the tip and bridge of her nose is a bit wider than I have modeled. But the nostril width lines up perfectly. And before anyone complains about the ears-- go back and read my earlier posts... the field-of-view/perspective of the front image impacts the ear scaling. In general a person's ears should be to the top of the eyelid to the bottom edge of nose.
