How come?
I just felt like I was neglecting a few real life responsibilities to check on these forums every day. I have a problem with self control so for me to overcome something like that I have to completely block it. I haven't been completely gone over the past view months, as I said before I occasionally lurk the forums to see what's cooking. I had that problem before on the Jedi Betrayal forums but I had blocked myself from accessing it and I haven't signed on for over a year (until a few days ago though because of the mod's birthday).

We can reset it for you, though you should already be able to.
I actually changed the password to something I'd never remember on purpose so I couldn't log in. I lurk here from time to time and I saw that you guys actually had need of my JKFiles mirror so I made the new account to post the URL of it. You can actually delete this account if you want, I just wanted to remind you guys where my JKFiles mirror was.

Forgot password?
Yeah.

If you try and make an edit to the file, it'll require re-approval by a staff to become public again. If you remove the link to the file and change the description to a deletion request, we'll delete it.
Made a few delete requests for my more embarrassing early mods.

How do you delete a file already uploaded under your name?
-
Just thought I would point out that, as my jk3files mod backup database gets bigger, you can download all of the filefront mods from there.
Note that 90% of the files I have downloaded are still uploading as I type this so barely any mods are uploaded ATM.
-
By the way, I'm changing the way that I'm hosting the mods to something that should be a lot more efficient. From now on they will all be hosted on one Box.com account that will be updated over time by me. In case you're wondering, the previous Google Drive host locations are still there and always will be. You can find all of the mods from a single link, which I have here below:

One other plus side of this is that you can browse through the database and download mods individually or download them in entire categories and/or packs if you so desire.

Bump
Any more progress @@spior ? I hate to bother like this, but we're so close to finishing this project. -
In any case. I completely see Corto's point. I'm not sure why I'm seeing a giant version of a texture with no additional detailing. Especially that small switch panel. I have no idea why you'd need to make it that huge to begin with.
Looking back I agree. I remember when I made the first of these high-res textures and I honestly though there was little to no improvement. I just wanted to post here to see what people thought of it, but the idea got pretty popular and I think I got lost in it. Still, either way I think it was a good way of practicing Photoshop skills.
No, I'm telling you. I'm not the only one who has an educated opinion, but the guys making this textures seem to be ignoring us like if we were trying to sabotage their project. They're doing doing it by themselves. This project would make much more sense if they started working on those textures which are horribly washed out in game right now and choosing a new texture size based on the amount of space they have to cover, as opposed to just making them unnecessarily huge. Also, instead of making the same exact texture with sharper edges they should re imagine those parts that look overly simple because of the small texture space the original texture has. High definition is not about higher resolutions alone, is about using a higher resolution to add much more detail.
Well, I took you're advice and closed the project. I didn't ask Master Ridley to help with this, so he's doing this of his own accord.
Meh, just do what I do and don't bother. Clearly some people need help, but there are a bunch of people waiting to jump down your throat if your feedback is even slightly not filled with rainbows and unicorns.
Getting off topic here, but...I do agree with this to an extent, but criticism should be handled with respect and should always be constructive. I also think there's a tendency for some of us to do the opposite of this and over-criticize. I think it's good to point out positive things as well as negative things, as a lot of negative feedback can get frustrating at times. One example is clear on the previous page. The first post after Master Ridley's texture is 7 different criticisms of the texture by DT. While I believe they are all valid, I would think it would be somewhat frustrating for someone who just spent several hours working on a texture to post it here only to intense scrutiny. Again, all of DTs points are very valid and I'm sure will be helpful to crafting another version, but finding at least 1 thing positive about it might make a lot of criticism seem a bit less offensive. Of course, praising something that's crap and over-complimenting it shouldn't be done either. This texture is obviously not that though and I think it is a good start. It is sort of a waste though since the higher resolution isn't going to really improve anything visually, as Corto said.

Just another FYI (and a shameless way to bump this thread) I've switched off my targeting computer and changed my main OS from Windows 7 to Ubuntu, so the next time I run spior's program it will probably be done through VirtualBox Windows XP SP3. Hopefully that won't screw anything up.
EDIT: It seems to be working in VirtualBox XP.

This is not entirely related, but are there OpenJK binaries for Linux? If not, are there Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy binaries for linux yet?

I have to change pretty much every str* function because of that. Do not want.
If it's any quicker/easier could you just specifically blacklist those files? I could download those manually, I can't imagine that that many files have strange characters in them.

Just played it for the first time. I've only played it for about 10 minutes, but I haven't found a major gripe with the controls yet. The graphics are exactly the same as the PC version, they don't seem stripped down at all. I've only beaten KOTOR 1 completely one time like two years ago, so this is a great way to replay the game. Also, the screen size on iPad mini is perfect. I feel like I'm playing it on a PC, not a mobile device, aside from the controls.
Looking forward to Manaan in the palm of my hands.
Will be very... nostalgic...

Of an entirely separate game from another genre which does not affect the feasability of a JO/JA port.
The fact that this game runs on iPad and has better graphics than JKO and JKA in my mind is proof that the iPad can run JKA, aside from issues with the controls.

Oh, and I ran the JK2 parameter and it crashed on "bridge_of_khazad-dûm_.zip," so I can confirm that it's the characters. Who was dumb enough to add that accented character to the .zip file?
-
@@spior I'm getting another crash, this one the program can't seem to get around. It's crashed at this point twice.
file 4317/6133
it has some unusual characters in the file name. That might be what is causing the crash. I think the file is called AescendingAngel.zip but with weird characters in it.

What I've done in the past with shaders is to copy someone else's shader text (sue me) and replace the textures with mine. Look through some of Sith-J-Cull's maps and if there's an effect you like, see if you can find the corresponding shader and use that.
BTW, I believe that your texture file entries (ex. env_metal) need to have a file extension with them.

All JKA mods are downloaded at this point except for the skins! Spior's bot is working perfectly aside from periodic crashes.
Has anyone burned the JK2 mod packs I previously uploaded to DVD/BD-R? It might be a good idea if a lot of people do it in case my mirror ever goes down. The point of all this is to effectively immortalize these mods so 25 years from now if anyone still plays JA they can have mods to go with it.

Just FYI it has crashed like 3 times now since I last reported any, but every time I re-run it it seems to get past the crash. 2200/6133 mods are downloaded now.

Haha, two years ago I thought about uploading a "purseless ugnaught" mod to JK3files. It would have required the editing of one line of a text file. I'm glad I never did.

Yeah, I think it was because my internet got messed up. It crashed again like 5 minutes before I wrote this and it was because my connection went down for a few minutes. Will re-run again, and it will probably work.
Is there any sort of fail-safe you could implement so the program doesn't crash and instead holds before trying to connect again? Re-running the program takes it a while to confirm all of the files already downloaded.
JK3 Files now unable to download mods

Yeah do to this account whatever happened to Moondog's account, where he just completely disappeared. Not my regular Syko account, leave that alone. Just purge this one.
