I use Norton, I love it

I realize the lacking of realistic space combat would bring down the quality, I suppose a project like this would be like a "Do at your own risk" type of thing.

Yep, I'm suggesting it.
We've seen a pretty good version of the Battle of Yavin made by some author which I forgot the name of, and it does have potential. So why not make a map depicting the epic space battle from Return of the Jedi?
I realize this project would have to involve "borrowing" or making from scratch a whole bunch of ships, but maybe theres an author out there willing to trade his work. Also a bunch of scripting.
Excluding the battle of endor map made for the Knights of the Force mod, there is nothing out there of its type. So heres what I suggest.
Map type: Siege (obviously)
Rebel Objectives:
1. Hold out until the shield around the Death star is disabled
2. Find an access point to fly in towards the main reactor
3. Reach the main reactor and destroy it
4. Escape the Death Star
5. Destroy the remaining Imperial Forces
Imperial Objectives:
1. Destroy all Rebellion ships
2. Protect the main reactor
3. Keep the Death Star from being destroyed.
I know the objectives seem a little too harsh for the Imperials since all they could do is slow the rebels down, and could easily ambush in the passageway going to the reactor, but I think this has the potential to be the biggest and best siege map ever. So what do you all think?

A bit of a story topic, what made you want to get Jedi Academy, was it Jedi Outcast? was it a magical game pixie? tell us your story.
Mine:
Buying Jedi Academy took multiple attempts, at the time I bought it I was using a windows 98 (aka piece of shit). I had played the xbox demo of the game multiple times at Wal-mart and I loved it, so I begged my parents to get me it, they let me, I started it up but single player would not work. Only multiplayer. So we took the game back to Wal-mart.
Fast forward a year later I discovered filefront for the first time, I downloaded a lot of mods for Jedi Outcast (Dark Alliance, Mace Windu: Party Crasher, prison escape, etc). Then episode 3 came out in theaters, I saw it, and I was amazed how many episode 3 mods were already out there, and all of them were for Jedi Academy. At first I tried running the maps in Jedi Outcast (not something I recommend you do). Then I finally decided to try Jedi Academy again, after a lot of looking it over, my dad found the problem and I could play Jedi Academy as I wanted to.

I keep hearing from multiple people that 1.4 is the best, I saw on the Mapping Video Tutorial that the person used 1.3.1.2, I've used 1.5 for a time. So I need to hear it from you all.
Which version is better?

Ugh, screw that!

Yeah, I'm Linken233, I consider myself an amateur modder as I have delved into the art of each branch of modding (except modeling). Sadly though any "large projects" I try to make end up not being done due to my short attention span (and a crappy computer ).
So yeah, hopefully I can contribue to JKHub in any way possible, I am available to help with mods, if not physically I can make pointers and give helpful advice.

I think that looks like a job for the guy who made the Gundam model for Jedi Outcast.
This frightens me.

Dear JKHUB, Please don't ban me for this post I am about to make
Linken233
I used to be a diehard KOTF fan, but after the disappointment of part 1, not to mention it being 4 years after it, I've pretty much lost all the hope I have. I might download it just out of curiousity, but after that, I'm done, but I probably should defend Tim on somethings he did. This is me speaking from my years of gaming experience (and college as I am majoring in Computer Science).
Copying the main assets: He had to do that for the sake of doing the startup menu, no other mod has that, not to mention its an EXPANSION pack, not an official one, but still is an Expansion. Like official expansion packs for legit games (Empire at War, Age of Empires) The game needs the original code and then has to build up from it.
Using other peoples work: Alright, during the glory days of when part 1 was released, a lot of people (including myself) asked Tim if he really had used other peoples work without permission, he said he didn't and had asked all modders. Even if he hadn't, I checked some of the mods, mostly skins, I know of that were used in KOTF, NONE of them said "You may not use these mods without my permission". Tim did give proper credit where it was due. Had he made all the maps from scratch, the mod would have taken SO much longer to make, even with half of the features it has.
Some of the other stuff he did (such as charge $100 for the DVD) is unacceptable and he should have been ashamed of that, the game after all was not his own creation, if I ever made a mod as big as that (and I sort of am in the process, shhh), I would never charge money, making a game modification for personal profit is illegal, as I'm sure it would be considered "soliciting money off the internet".
In conclusion, I don't support KOTF anymore, I might download it IF it gets good feedback (or maybe just for the star wars saga missions). I tried time and time again to renew my faith, but I just have no hope anymore.
Please don't ban me for the Hub for this.
