I got his body ready for paint n sculpt. Its all 1 flowing piece basically and it was a whore 3400 triangles so far without head. Higher than I was hoping for

@@DT85 I dont know much to anything about other programs... but to help this out in Softimage... what I would do is duplicate the arms skeletons... then animate one of them to do an action, and apply it with a Warp to negative X axis or whatever so you could duplicate it to the other side. I believe all 4 arms will use the same animation action if you duplicated them in the beginning. Then all you do is animate 1 arm to do all the different movements that you want from all 4 arms, store those anims as separate actions and apply them to specific arms at specific times in the mixer. eliminating the need to animate 4 arms. EDIT: Yeah, basically what this guy is doing https://vimeo.com/12101630 around the minute to minute 30 or so marks... but with all 4. after youve animated a nice set for the first ne... then offset those anims in the mixer to where you want the other ones going EDIT AGAIN: Yeah i just built a basic rig and duplicated and offset anims no problem. It wasnt exactly how i explained it but it points you in the right direction What wa different fom how i explained it, was you will have to store each separate tree's actions to have them separated. but its easy enough -
And heres a very quick and ugly example of how to get that mesh sculpted out and retopologized for JKA quick and dirty but these videos were meant for more concept stuff just to show off how easy you could be building in zbrush if thats your cup of tea. Giving you a final result like

@@Noodle I can do a more indepth build of a humanoid character if anyone is interested in building jka in zbrush base meshes are a breeze You can get a good start fairly simple you will have to go through and adjust everything... but its a great start Later ill finish this character all the way down and smash all of the videos into one and post it in the tutorials section or something.

@@Noodle thanks for the reference i was kinda just freeballing it tbh. @@AshuraDX i dunno lol i was just kinda winging it. i was just keying bones on the simplest rig i could build. i didnt want to get too insane with it, figured whoever wants it looking better could slap it in dragon or something and animate it. I get held up on the details and would just like to get a beta out. youre right though its why i keep posting it lol i felt like it was a bit fucky and subconsciuosly wanted someone to tell me what was wrong. If I stop whining and rebuild the rig it wouldnt be hard to fix. but im whining about it and wanting to move on. We'll see if i end up getting my panties out of a twist and just rebuild the rig like the good lord intended maybe i take a break for a day or so and revisit it and just hand animate it better in reference to ze reference. I shall break now

@@Noodle Thanks man. On this model I created the body in Zbrush and also created the base coat in Zbrush. I usually do everything in Softimage and paint in substance but this way was quicker for me. I UV unwrapped rigged and am animating in Softimage though. I'd love to start recording speed modeling sessions soon. I've always been rather speedy with modeling though. Even back in my less experienced days, which was a bad thing lol Yeah this rig looks like its going to work out great. Look how cuddly and happy he is to have bones =) Bottom of his feet are just a mess, the teeth, mouth, and eyes are all just a single color for now...but he'll have a texture overhaul before release. I'd say he's game ready but has no anims yet. Now I can relax a bit and create a buncha cool anims for him

@ I was completely wrong about the simple rig, it was a disaster =D So I rebuilt one a bit more in depth, and I'll try that now.

any texture artist that wants to give this guy a nice skin just let me know... ill be animating. he could really use a good skin, i have a decent base coat going right now but its just sloppy and i dont want to get held up on something like that right now current uvmap mesh info skeleton info let me know if im missing anything

nice and sloppy for now. ill model his teeth in softimage and make higher details this is just basically the base coat https://imgur.com/a/eNKOnk4 i think ill take a break from zbrush and jump into softimage... build him an animation rig and some teeth. i dont remember him walking in the movie... so what animals should i reference for his movement? im thinking legs of a crocodile and body of an elephant? @@ZanderNao I work on proxy from time to time. He just needs to be textured. I was considering releasing him with a checkerboard texture for the texturing 24 hour contest, but ill probably just substance painter him if it takes much longer. These ideas are great and should keep me busy for a few days. I'll post pics here soon Thank you all!

@@Lancelot well i dont mind animating as long as it isnt too crazy... i just started a nexu, sucks theres already one. might start a happabore then. thanks for the info though!
