Train your senses, and it will become a fact. Just like anything, sensitivity is something you have to develop. You can't expect to see a fire with your eyes shut. As for the suffering, you can see it as a way to learn something, to grow: not all tears come to harm. But I can see how that's not a satisfying answer. Don't know what else to say, other than I consider love a gift, due to the bonds of communion it can create between people. It's all a way to grow, when not misused.
