Star Wars Episode VII Discussion

@@DrXann They keep a lot as a secret. A Lego set, mentioned earlier, was leaked into Internet, where we can clearly see another starfighter, which can be a successor to the B-Wing in th OT. Many aliens, places and weapons are also yet to be seen only in the movies, even the TV spots haven't and won't show us these. Many Resistance and Republic characters are also unseen, including some from the main heroes (aside from Luke Skywalker). The sets have been finally revealed. Also Battle of Takadana, showing Kylo Ren without his helmet! I think the soundtrack list is incomplete. I remember, when I found Episode III soundtrack, it included only the most popular tracks, but not all. Episoed I also omited some music, which I enjoy (I call it the capture of the Queen, when we see Amidala escorted by droids with her handmaidens and troops to the Prison Camp and are rescued suddenly by the Jedi; this music plays in The Phantom Menace video game, when Obi Wan enters the old lady house and soon droids attack). So Episode VII has a basic soundtrack CD perhaps for now. A Complete OST would be released by Summer or later. And some more versions a few years later. Fans will surely rip off all the music from Episode VII much earlier. As we nown have a map of the Galaxy with new planets, interestingly some new location is where Ilum was originally... Update: Found some more info on characters. Supposedly this is a character played by Max Von Sydow, as stated earlier. We know, that he was referred as the Vicar by the production team, but aside from his name we now also know, that he is an Elder of one of the villages on Jakku. Early skecthes show him with many prosthetics as a cyborg. And here major spoilers from his appearance in the film. It also reveals more about others. And we also know the name of the planet, where Resistance has the base of their own. Oh, there is a shot of a space battle by the way. -

According to the SWU, there is a list of soundtrack of Episode VII. Some titles remind of certain rumors, heard previously. If we take into account, that sometimes the soundtrack is played the way it can be heard in the movie. Usually the main theme is #2 (like Duel of the Fates or Across the stars), but sometimes they follow one after another in the way, as events are shown. Here is a list of music, which gives some info on how the story can develop. -

There is a new Captain Phasma picture published by the Empire magazine. I guess someone will make a good desktop picture some time later, when a better resolution is available. With many theories regarding the plot, I am sticking more and more to the fact, that Kylo Ren is most likely not one of the Skywalkers, but is still related to them - being the first Jedi after Luke. Probably even his former student, who was the first to learn of all Luke knew of the Force and of the Jedi from Yoda and Obi Wan. However his knowledge wasn't enough to make Kylo follow the Jedi path. For some reasons (perhaps with the influence from Snoke) he turned to the Dark Side, joining the Knights of Ren. Some time later he would return to eliminate the Jedi with other knights, destroying what was established by Luke. It is possible, that Luke might have left his Order before that, remaining in hiding. Or perhaps the destruction of what he created as a Jedi Order, was the reason, why Luke decided to leave the known Galaxy. Who are they, the knights of Ren? -
I want to change the scale of the model .. problem is.. hitbox
NumberWan replied to Langerd's topic in Modding Assistance
Too bad, but this returns us to one particular discussion, why JA doesn't allow to change the scale of the NPC model via scripts. Dozens of times I tried various methods and commands, and it seems that only a pre-edited NPC file can work this way. -

This Looks really cool! I mean, the things you did for TFTCW are amazing, and I am pretty sure the new project will be equally great, if not surpass the predecessor. -

As crazy as it might be, but there are 2 more TV spots (how many are there now? Like ten?) Nothing truly special, as it can be just a recap of already known shots with some being longer than previously seen. For instance we a longer duel between Finn and stormtrooper in the ruins, and more interaction between characters, a few more shots from BB-98, as well as a longer scene with First Order Shuttle seen leaving the planet and going to the Star Destroyer. However one of the TV shots actually reveals the face of Maz Kanata! Yes, we already know her possible apperance, but here is a shot with her face. Also the film will have another alien pilot (Resistance seems to include lots of various humanoids at this stage unlike Rebel Alliance by the time of Episode IV), this time it's a Sullustan Resistance Pilot (possibly Nien Nunb). There is also a female pilot, seen in the comics of late - Jessika Pava. Source -

@ I also don't recall Darth Vader in Conservatoire in 2000s, and no Stormtroopers Exhibitions in Trade Centers. The line of toys was almost the same at the time, with Lego entering the stage with many-many sets, new action figures, miniatures and also the prequels made a way for Republic Commando, KOTOR and The Force Unleashed with Battlefromnt I and II. I think the reason is also with the development of the Social Media. It is amazing, what part this one plays in all the brands I know, be it Adidas, Nestle, Ikea or Star Trek. This new stuff allows you to write a message on Whoopie Goldberg's page and get a response, or "like" the picture from Meril Streep, or even learn where to meet one of the celebreties next week. These new oportinities, unavailable in early 2000s, contributed a lot to the fuss around Star Wars Episode VII. Personally I enjoy the trailers only, paying less attention to commercials on new Yoda burgers or Vader's Favourite Pepsi, with Kellogs delivering "cool stickers" with Finn, Rey and BB-8 to your breakfast. @ They said Corellia would be in Episode VII. However I am sure Han refers to Falcon as his true home. -

@ A picture for Kylo Ren of Kylo Ren - New Yes, they said, that making Snoke as a puppet was somehow almost impossible. I believe that it can be something really unusual, perhaps not even humanoid in nature. @ THere's been an article about what can ruin Star Wars in December: 1) if Episode VII copies A New Hope, 2) Snoke CGI won't be convincing enough as a character 3) a wrong character dies or a right character dies wrongly That's according to IGN. Many more reasons are named throughout the Internet by very different magazines and sites, as well as fans. The phrases common on Earth have been spotted in Star Wars more than once now. Captain Phasma is known to have one such phrase too, while we can hear a few in KOTOR series from our companions. Besides Han Solo says "Then I'll see you in hell!" in Episode V. And "Die, Jedi Dogs" was also somehow strange to hear from C-3PO. Well, there was an explanation, that some things from real life Earth do come to Star Wars - like apples (Episode II), mice (Episode VI), chicken and other domestics (Caravan of courage), and even a game of chess (not to confuse with Dejarik game), as well as earings and glasses on some characters. So a few other things will keep coming. I still guess "Bantha Fodder" and "E chu ta!" surpass everything else in Star Wars -

@ As I said, some believe him to be present among the Ren knights, though he is definitely not one of them. It is worth mentioning, that this scene is set during a different time, not during TFA. So Snoke can be there, but before what tragedy might have occured to him. Actually some of the things mentioned by Serkis remind me of a creature, seen in Lost in space movie. But I expect him to be as scary as this one from Dark Angel: -

@@Jolly It's a wonder, that so many things have been revealed with the trailer, but in most cases we still don't know what is going on exactly. Also they've hidden lost more - in that we can be sure. The Supreme Leader Snoke - according to some - has already been seen in one of the trailers. Spoiler Alert. Also there's been a discussion, whether Snoke looks like this or not. No info, where this screen comes from, but the artist tried to capture in the appearance all that is currently known about Snoke. -

Star Wars Episode VII Discussion

@ I think the same took place years ago with Episodes I-III... It was like that, wasn't it? I remember clearly seeing Episode I for the first time on HBO - it was quite a surprise, as I wasn't expecting anything at all. With Episode II I was more like attentive fan eager to see the film. I was collecting data on the upcoming plot and looking here and there, when possible. However for the most part I remember only a few ads on AOTC, like Yoda in MCDonalds and a News report on TV (I think this is coming this year too). Episode III had additional promo like games, comics, books and holonet news, which further developed the Galaxy around Revenge of the Sith. In case of Episode VII it is Battlefront, trailers, upcoming books and comics, as well as all this ads only. Not as much as previously. I think all this is actually in order, whether one likes it or not. Star Wars is a cinematic phenomena, a very special experience even for non-fans. So that's the reason behind all the noise here (same was with Harry Potter, LOTR, James Bond and others, as far as I recall). -

@ The whole ad ca,pain is somehow overwhelming. I see Star Wars everyday almost everywhere - on busstops and subway, as well os on Radio in the gym and on TV panel at work. Ads are everywhere, be it a new series of Lego Sets, a mere trailer or a Nesquik ad. While I am happy with the fact, that I would have a special "go" to the cinema, there is a feeling, that with all the fuss the experience isn't somehow unique and loses its mystery. The one I had when I watched Star Wars ANH the very first time in the childhood. -

Well, the lightsaber stuff has a few surprizes for us. One of the TV spots showed a stormtrooper using a weapon, similar to what we see in Episode III, when the Magna Guards are fighting Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi. This weapon is a bit different, but similar in nature of withstanding a lightsaber. Another thing of notice is that about a year ago it was said, that Daisy Ridley (Rey) took upon training in a certain form of combat with a staff. We know, what kind of weapon she uses, and there are plenty of bad guys aside from First Order and Kylo Ren. There are also pirates and some criminals, which will be an obstacle for Rey and her friends at some point. So there might a few unorthodox dueling in Episode VII. -

@@DrXann I think, this is a start. Just like in case of Episode IV and I, there are a few models for a start. In ANH there were X-Wing fighters and Y-Wing bombers. Episode V introduced Snowspeeders for Battle of Hoth, awhile it was Episode VI, which revealed the fully formed Rebellion Fleet with massive cruisers and many different ships, some of which can be spotted in the background only. For Episode I this was also the case - we see only one kind of ships for Naboo, and a few battle units for the trade Federation, like AAT, droidekas and the Droid fighter being the most prominent for that period. Now we have a new time era, so it's the start. We can assume, that in later episodes we'll see a new villain, which might be using a special craft of his own, like Darth Vader's TIE advanced fighter. Also there is plenty of room for pirates and mercenaries, so we might see new ships belonging to them as well. It would be fair to say, that some ships haven't been shown just yet. However there's been a Lego set leak, which included a new Rebel starfighter, which might just as part of the Rebel fleet as the new X-Wing. I am positive we'll see a lot of new craft and land transport on various worlds. And another TV spot (can't believe they release a new one almost every week now). watch it here. Seems Rey and Kylo are in one scene, when she uses the blaster and he - deflects the shots. -
Getting JA's NPC AI on par with JK2's?
NumberWan replied to Dusty's topic in General Modding Discussions
It was always funny, that NPCs could see you through the bushes, but if you place invisible brushes there, they will not. At least this logic works! As for waypoints - I never connected point_combat with waypoints, but placed them close enough for the NPCs to reach. I can't remember, but waypoints don't seem to have commands, like for the NPCs to crouch at certain places. -
Getting JA's NPC AI on par with JK2's?
NumberWan replied to Dusty's topic in General Modding Discussions
I don't think movement is of the greatest issues with NPCs' AI. I am speaking not front he point of a Player here, but rather as a modded. When you work with NPCs in GtkRadiant and outside of it, you have to deal with lots of things, regarding their behavior. When you make a room, you have to think, how this room will be perceived by the primitive system of "analyzing" the environment by other characters. A mere table can be a problem for an NPC to shoot you the Player. In some cases the NPC can be killed with a blaster, but they won't shoot, because the "table" or a crate are too high. In some cases they can't jump over seemingly simple objects, which aren't too high. Movement itself is also a problem, and though JA or JO doesn't exactly reveal this in their classic locations, this is a problem, that can arise, when you make a crowdy place in your own mod. More waypoints do help in most cases, but it doesn't prevent NPCs from getting stuck, if they approach each other from opposite sides. In most cases their "resolving" the path looks simply weird, in worse situations they are stuck and don't move. -

@ This time I wrote, it's 100% that Plaguies is not among the already known characters. That's different. But the idea that the Wise Sith Lord would come back appeared here and there as an idea, promoted by some fans, even after J.J. and Kazdan said, that Plaguies was not in their plans and there would't be Plaguies in Episode VII (a question directly asked by a fan during a conference). Some also assumed that Snoke is the old Sith lord from the prequels, even if the name is different, everything was possible. Also the fact, that Snoke could be someone else from the universe, either appearing as a cameo in the background in the films or someone from EU. Now we can also say, he is neither. Just a very new figure. The words of Serkis about Snoke's appearance, that it couldn't be done the way some other aliens could and his looks - well, this what intrigues me the most for now. -

So there is a new TV spot (so many in one week?). However this one includes a new dialogue. Watch the TV Spot here Also Han gives Rey some sort of a weapon, though I can't tell what it is really. Some sort of a blaster perhaps? There is also a room, where different characters gather to discuss something, a place similar to a command center on Yavin IV, though this is likely a different place. Not sure, but theforce.net published a photo of a Lego minifigure of Maz Kanata. Edit: as for Darth Plaguies theories, it is now set for 100%: he is NOT among the mentioned characters in Episode VII. Here is some info from SWU, which was provided by Andy Serkis himself about Leader Snoke: -
I looked through the recent feature on their website, where you can explore the planets, units, events, weapons and other stuff. Yes, it does look very good and there seems to be a lot of opportunities. They also pay attention to the species, so you can play as Duros, Rodian, Twi'Lek, Quarren, Sullustan and perhaps some different aliens, aside from humans, which can look different. However I feel, that all the effort went into creating these four locations - Hoth, Tatooine, Endor and Sullust. @@DrXann I am not sure about sounds, but the team spend a lot of time recording them at different locations, not just the image, but also sounds themselves, like in Iceland. For Tatooine they went to Dubai to include sounds of desert and winds, as Tunisia is no longer safe to do such things. Given the fact, that they worked so hard on making these 4 planets, I am not sure they will equally develop other locations such as Bespin, Naboo and other places - would it be worth for a team to travel far enough from the office to prepare a decent DLC with new places?
