Awww… Thanks.

Hahahaha! I'm making this my wallpaper!

@@Circa, an update on this: I've figured out why I've had trouble -- I'm in Australia, and the time-zone of the forum is such that it cuts my limit of likes in half to the next day. The 45 like limit seems to be sufficient now, though. Thanks for making these changes.

ROFL, love it!
-
Wow, fantastic -- thanks! ("Video" for machinimas is missing.)
-
That's interesting. I think they've removed the version licensing system; that'd be why...
-
Ohh, where, what, how? o.O Thanks @@Circa. What are they? We should probably pin them all in a post at the top of the "Arts, Media and Technology" forum for reference (including any future ones we may add, such as fan art (drawing), concept art, machinima, etc.). It'll help to organise arts content better.

Bow Ming, BOOOOOWWWWW!!!

True, but if we're going to use the tags we should start now, because adding tags later to already published writings will be troublesome. I also think that the reason not so many people write is that there is no section for it really on the forums… XD It's a vicious cycle. I think WIP works can easily go without tags into "Arts, Media and Technology", but finished works published here should be honoured with the appropriate tag at least. Anyhow… food for thought.

Now I see what you mean, Captain. I was talking with low poly modelling in mind, but with high poly modelling that's a whole different issue. Modelling is interesting like that, it's as much art as science. You need a creative eye to be free and at the same time you need to know your shapes and make logical decisions. Funny enough I've found more tutorials for beginners with Silo than with any of the other modelling software so far. XD I like how the interface is clean to see and easy to get used to. It's kind of like a mix between the Photoshop experience and a professional 3D modelling tool. It'll do for the start, as an introduction, anyway. Don't worry guys, I'll continue practicing. Thank you so much everyone for your support. I'll try to keep you up-to-date on my progress here... The next challenge is lots of extrusion for the little arms and fingers, legs and tail: Or select face/polygon and hit "Z", then "W" and drag the axis you want with the mouse to extrude. (I'm trying to get used to using the keyboard shortcuts.) Thanks @@AshuraDX! I find that Silo really isn't a bad software (so far). It's buggy with adding the reference images on my Mac, but it works fine on Linux. It's also really easy to fully customise to your liking.

Thanks @@AshuraDX, @@Asgarath83. I'm sure I'll have a few questions as I get to the more advanced stuff... It's meant to be a cat-like creature, Asgarath, so that works well then, I guess. Thanks Captain. I find organic things quite challenging because there are shapes that curve all sorts of ways. Surfaces and solid objects are usually clean-cut and that means I can play neat with each point and adjust it easily.

Okay, I have absolutely no confidence yet in what I'm doing, so please be light -- very very very light -- on criticism. XD Here's a WIP shot of the first model I'm attempting to make. I've picked something as easy as I could in terms of shape, but I'm still having a lot of trouble figuring our how to add all the pieces together and extrude new shapes out of the main one. Once I'm finished, I would like to skin it, weight it, and get it working in-game. I may need some help with that later. For now enjoy my awesome creation -- hahaha, as if… Oh my… *hides in closet*

That'd do it! Then we can combine all written works to a page if we like later using tagged thread sourcing.
-
Hmm… tags would work. And that's easier to implement. Would we be able to then search all written works by searching the "Writing" or "Fiction" tag?

Well, it's a bit of a Pandora's box, but I guess it'll have to do... I was thinking more along the lines of a dedicated section to writing, as well as a profile role/"field" corresponding to "Writer", to foster new talent. Good writing is very important for more comprehensive projects that involve storytelling. It'll be hard finding good stories published in "Art, Media and Technology" among all the other content there. There's simply too much going on.
-
I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to have a writers' section for story-writing. It would help to encourage more explorations in storytelling, I think. Many of these stories can then end up in SP TC mods, or machinimas, if they're found to be good.

Well, he was never really a Jedi at heart to begin with, and the stealth gear doesn't make him a Jedi either, just more experienced/professional IMO. But I agree with you both. The old Dark Forces Kyle is the real deal. Perhaps he should focus more on his mercenary ways in the sequel, and only use his Jedi powers for practical purposes. He was never one to adopt the Jedi way, after all. He likes things practical.

No, I meant continuing JO storyline, not JA... We can treat JA as a side-story, since Kyle is rarely around with his students, anyway. He's not really interested in teaching, and he is continuing to concentrate on his own missions. He probably has good reason to. It's almost like Raven had left us space to work with to create a worthy Jedi Knight sequel. It would also explain why he is so distracted from the events in JA, and taken by surprise. If someone has way more pressing matters to attend to, it's not surprising that a peculiar dark-side twist home at the Academy would throw them off their feet and catch them somewhat unprepared.
-
You know, just a thought, but JKA has all the right tools to make a worthy sequel to the Jedi Knight series. It's basically JK2 expanded/improved. What's stopping us from creating a sequel SP TC mod with a brand new story and gameplay with Kyle in the spotlight? We can even modify aspects of the engine code, now. Just because Raven didn't do it, doesn't mean we need to wait and moan about it. We can just as well make it ourselves. In fact, we already have a new Kyle design that would fit the sequel. Not to mention countless maps and levels that could be used. It requires level designs, story-writing, model-making, and cutscene scripting, but it's nothing we haven't already done in the past. It's just a more serious project, requiring more work. We could also find volunteer/fan, skilled voice actors who sound very close to the original voice actors -- or better yet sound more like what we agree on better suits the characters. The SP engine is flexible and fully scriptable. It's totally handy for such a project.

Thanks, @@Asgarath83. I sure hope there will be. Story mode is fun!
